Nahh dawg they gotta wake up at 5am or 6 every morning to go to work. Gotta feed them kids and if their kids aren’t from around here they don’t get no food stamps. I remember my dad would wake up at 5 and get dressed for work and I’d go with my mom to the kitchen where she’d make him hot breakfast to go a cup of coffee for the road and a lunch to reheat at work. I’d always beg for a sip of that coffee. Giving my dad a hug and wishing him a good day at work would fill me up with the best feeling ever. My dad and uncles have worked in garbage disposal for years and years. My dad's younger brother can’t work there anymore, his cartilage around the knee is mostly gone and he had to get another job. He’s in his 40s and still has kids in high school one of them is 14 and his knees are already damaged. That’s hard work.

Back in the days it was Memorial Park in Houston that was the hangout. White folks who jogged with money said, " O' hell no , gotta get these folks out of here." Houston PD ran them out. And as far as the hall is concern ; no one is gonna pay money to rent a hall. This is the hood .
