I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a journalist. With that said, Mr. Hewitt is showing the perfect way to interview an Apostle. He does what a reporter is supposed to do.

Elder Maxwell ministered to my family with exceptional love and care during the loss of our mother to leukemia before his own cancer experience. He also fought alongside my uncle in Okinawa who did not survive. Elder Maxwell was deeply affected by his war experience and it was an important factor in shaping the man he would become.

what Would Elder Maxwell think of these last few years . what insight would he offer ? it seems perhaps the Lord spared him the sight of the his greatest fears manifest, for these are dark days in which we Need God more than ever . these are time where we must let our light so shine . we must show the world fearlessness offered to ones who are willing to submit to Gods will .

@@tonyjohnson2498 You are exactly correct. Elder Neal A Maxwell did see the resurrected Jesus Christ, that's why he is an Apostle. He constantly witnessed to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. You are absolutely correct. You are exactly correct - in order to operate the gifts of the God one must do as Christ instructed. That's true we are saved by grace. However, salvation is only the beginning. Jesus Christ gave commandments which are calls to use our agency/freewill to action only satan would take away choice and force people. God gives us a choice. Christ commanded us to be "even as I am" and "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Each day we all fall short of living up to these and other commandments, which is falling short of our full potential. Thus, the commandment to repent. Repentance is not a one-time event, it is a constant daily refinement of our character that leads us to the point of becoming a new creature in Christ and that eternally. We do this because we have faith and hope in Jesus Christ and His Grace which gives us the power to repent. His grace is what makes our time and effort of repentance worthwhile and of force. By thus using our agency/free will to act on the commands of Christ and come unto Him each day is "faith made perfect" (James 2:22). To what end? What is our potential? What did Jesus Christ say, be "even as I am" and "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Be like whom? Jesus Christ doesn't want us to only be saved, he wants more than that for us. There is more than salvation, which comes to all by grace, but there is also something else - Exaltation. He said, "in my Faher's house are many mansions", and the Apostle Paul was "caught up to the third heaven" and in his letter to the Corinthians (1Corinthinas 15:40-42) he explained that there are many different glories in heaven. We fall short of these commands and higher glories/heavens each day. Thus, the need for daily repentance and calling upon God. Why? Because repentance is the process of becoming who we really are through the grace and power of God's Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ showed us a perfect example of how to fulfill the commands of God. We do this by fulfilling the words of Christ to follow Him and do as He did through reliance on his grace to support and empower us to walk the path which path he made possible because He overcame the world so that the path would be available. We walk that path by our choice/free will and actions by faith in Him and reliance on His grace. Again, to what end? Christ commanded us to be "even as I am" and "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." By our choice we and daily development (repentance) we show God what we want to become and where we want to be after this life - many mansions He said - the third heaven, even the glory of the sun the Celestial Glory. It's our choice, God will not force us, we must show Him by your Faith in HIs grace through his Son by acting in our agency/free will. Faith is a principle of action that's how we show Faith is by choosing Christ each day in our actions. We are here to become more God gave us the path, example, and power to do it, now we just have to choose it, act on it, and rely on Him to do it. Thank you and God bless!

@@tonyjohnson2498 As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. All of them. We can't simply take bits and pieces of the Bible, one must take all the teachings of the Bible. God teaches that his Church (Apostles and Prophets) would again be upon the earth. We have a Prophet on hearth with 12 Apostles to serve with him just as in ancient times. We have a prophet, right now, on the earth through whom Christ leads His Church. Second, you didn't read my last message or you wouldn't have asked the question about working our way to heaven, because I answered that question already in my response to you. Let me repeat in brief, there is a difference between salvation and exaltation as explained in the New Testament and illustrated in my last message. We don't earn our way to heaven, we do however determine where we are in heaven by our actions and choices. If you say there is something wrong with achieving godhood then you are saying there is something wrong with Jesus Christ and calling Jesus Christ a liar. Christ said, "be ye therefore perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect." Jesus can not lie. When he said, "it is finished", it was that his part was finished to open the way for us to choose. Choose what? He commanded us to be "even as I am." What are Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ? If we are commanded to be like them, that can only mean one thing. We can't call God and Jesus liers. Their intent is clear. We are literal offspring of God (Acts 17) and heirs (Romans 8), and just like any child, we may grow up to be like our parents. In fact, good parents teach and train their children deliberately so that they can do just that. That is what mortal life is for so that we can grow and develop under the tutelage of an all-loving parent. When we fully embrace this tutelage from God and follow Jesus Christ by our own choice, by our actions, then we are fit for more (Luke 9:62). There are many different people out there with different levels of desire and obedience to God's commandments. For those who don't choose to follow this path will be in heaven, they just choose a different place in Heaven ("in my Father's house are many mansions." Did Jesus lie when He said that?). Either we follow what Jesus taught in the Bible as a whole, or we don't. We have to be obedient to all of God's commandments not just parts of them.

@@tonyjohnson2498 In the last message you sent to me, you said something about "lenses" and "interpretation". The modern Christianity reads the Bible with the lense of the ancient creeds that were made up by man and heavily influenced by Greek philosophy, not by God. You are beliving influenced by ancient Greek philosophy, not the truth of Christ. These people have perverted the truth so that they could come to some sort of agreement. That is the lense that most Christians look at The Holy Bible. They go against what the Bible teaches. People need to read the Bible and accept the truth of what it teaches not interpretations by people. We use the whole Bible we don't pick and choose. The Bible is clear that we are literal children of God and it also teaches clearly that there are different places in heaven, of which I showed clear evidence. True we are adopted when we are born again unto Christ. You're correct, we must accept Godly ways not man's ways, God's ways are higher, we must not accept the creeds as they were made up by men and Greek philosophy and not accept the perverted teachings of modern teachers based on those creeds. Man's ways are not God's ways. God would have us be like him as he commanded us (I gave the direct quote from Jesus) and reach our full potential. Man and Satan would have us not reach our full potential. I see no evidence anywhere in the Bible of your teachings. I have read the Bible many times, and I find no evidence at all of what you speak nor of the creeds. In fact, when I read the Bible, as did the ancient reformers who agree with me, find no evidence of the creeds nor of the perverted teachings. Everything The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches couches perfectly with the Bible. Today on the Earth we have a living Prophet and Apostles ("Elder" Maxwell was a modern-day Apostle a part of the modern-day 12 Apostles Christ has chosen), who were prophesied to come forth, whose job it is to help us understand the truth just like ancient prophets. When Jesus and other prophets tried to teach the truth of the ancient scriptures they were persecuted and killed.

@@tonyjohnson2498 First, we are not "LDS church". If you can't get that right nothing you say has any validation because that is a fact and you need to have your facts. We are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You may call us Latter-day Saints, or members of The Church of Jesus Christ, or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We don't call Lutherans - "Luthers" and we don't call Catholics - "Lics". That would be rud and inaccurate and it would show ignorance of facts. The are not "elders" they are Prophets or Apostles. You may refer to them that way when you want to stop demeaning. You put words in my mouth and are being deceitful. You lied or you didn't read my response which makes you dishonest and insincere in either case, exactly like those Sadducees and Pharisees in the New Testament. Just like them you have a conspiring agenda and are nothing more than a troll. You do not have the Holy Spirit nor do you have charity which is the pure love of Christ. You do not read the Bible and if you did then you do not understand it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To know more: www.comeuntochrist.org/ For the benefit of those who are honest followers of Jesus Christ and seekers of truth, I will respond to some things bellow. I am grateful for Tony for being such a good troll as to give me good space to teach the world about The Church of Jesus Christ restored to the Earth as prophesied in the Bible. 1. God did have a time when he was mortal and by following the principles he now lays out for his children he obtained all power and knowledge. He is God for us and there are none other for us. He is our Father and there is no other. The scriptures uphold this. 2. Lucifer was in the presence of God as one of his children. If you read the New Testament, the scriptures are clear on this. 3. You lied or you didn't read my response which makes you dishonest in either case, exactly like those Sadducees and Pharisees in the New Testament. I didn't say the scriptures were corrupted I said the creeds, which were influenced by Greek philosophy (which is accepted and proven by all gospel scholars, of all religions) corrupted the people's vision and interpretation of the scriptures. Even the ancient Christian reformers agree with me. You are unaware of history. 4. Tony is looking at the Bible as he was taught through the lens of the ancient creeds (after the apostles died) which were made up by man to define God without authority to make any such declarations. Only authorized servants of God may make such decrees. God revealed himself to ancient prophets and apostles who then taught people who God is and his will. God says in the Old Testament that he will only talk to the world through his prophets and in the New Testament, we are taught it will only happen through his Prophets and Apostles oh heald that authority. The creeds were made up by people who were after the apostles died and interjected Greek Philosophy into the creeds. They defined God and his will the way they wanted. For instance, the Scriptures clearly show that God and Jesus are two separate people, whoever, the creeds say that they are one being. To this day most Christian churches believe God and Jesus to be one being. This goes against the Bible and people continue to believe and take for doctrine the teachings of men from the Creeds. Thus, in this case, those who call themselves Christians at large are not Christians if you judge them as they judge us (very unChristlike, against the teachings of the Bible). They have a double standard. 5. Tony is comparing apples and oranges when he talks about other religions and is revealing that he has a double standard because he himself believes in Christ differently than they. As was taught to him by his preachers and hasn't through it through himself because he has been biased and has a prejudice against The Church. We are The Church of Jesus Christ and The Church is the only church on the earth that fits perfectly with what God caused to be written in the Bible. It is the only that does. 6. Tony also continues to demean and insulting the Apostles and Prophet in the last days, by continuing to call them "elders" even after I told him they were Apostles and Prophets. He doesn't even have the respect to call my church by its name even after he says he doesn't want to insult me and I have been using the correct name of my church. This shows he is not sincere and trying to deceive. You see if he did start using the correct name of the Church and to call them Apostles and Prophets he would have to start to accept the truth that this really is The Church of Jesus Christ. These are tactics of Satan to give things inappropriate names or different names thereby demeaning or being deceptive. 7. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Church of Jesus Christ on the Earth. God again, as was prophesied, has called a prophet and apostles as in ancient times. Just as in ancient times they were given authority to speak for God on earth, just as was promised in the Old Testament that God would only work through his prophets and by 2 or three witnesses. Jesus, as outlined in the Bible, is Jesus the Christ (the anointed one) who would redeem the world. He suffered for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, died on the cross at Golgotha, and resurrected on the third day. He lives and is enthroned on the right hand of God forever and ever. 8. If you pray to God he will answer you through the power of the Holy Spirit that what I have said is true. On of the purposes of the Holy Ghost/Holy Spirit is to witness of truth. You will know without any doubt that what I have said is true. You must first be an honest seeker of truth, sincere in your asking, and be willing to act on the witness of the truth of what I said.

@@tonyjohnson2498 You can't say anything about this man until you have gotten to know him or at least listened to him testify of Jesus Christ. You have never heard Neal A. Maxwell, and Apostle of the Lord, testify of Jesus Christ. You are being judgmental, you don't even know him. So, very unChrist like. You are being a judgmental, hypocrit. Seriously? - "...comments seemed to exalt a clearly intelligent man to the point of God hood..." - Give me a break. Rediculous. Don't be absured. You have an agenda and your comments are clearly an attack. He was an amazing person who did what the Savior asked, "feed my sheep". He turned people to Christ and that's all he did. We are very grateful to him for living such a life to be worthy to be called by Jesus Christ to be a witness to all the world. He gave up his life so that he could spend every day teaching of Jesus Christ. You have never listened to him testify of Christ and you should, becuase then you would know that he is indeed an Apostle of Jesus Christ, who has seen Jesus Christ. Your attacks here are the exact same ones, word-for-word, that I see everywhere else. I know you copy them from a book put together to attack the Lord's Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These attacks were devised by satan and perpetuated by people, like you, who do not seek truth and are blinded by the ideas of men. You repeat what other men say word-for-word. You don't even know religious history. Again, you are distoring things because you have an agenda and are a troll with lies. You are bing dishonest again. There is no short form, if you use a phone you can still take the time and curtisy to do it right. You could even vocally dictate it as well, but you clearly don't care.
