Probably won't come, unless Google allows it (Nearby Share is proprietary Google technology), and Microsoft wants to build it in. I can rather see Google marketing it with every smartphone in the future.
Dude! I sent a 10GB movie from my windows 11 laptop to my Samsung S21 Ultra and it took only 14 minutes at a rate of 140Mbps. This is the fastest transfer speed I've ever experienced between a PC and a smart phone. I must mention that both laptop and phone were connected to a 5GHz WiFi. I've been using Samsung flow but it's a hit and miss situation, Nearby share performed far better in my opinion. I tested from Accra Ghana so I believe it will work in any country. Thanks so much for sharing. 👍👍
I agree, I was also using Flow and I always had to open it, then wait a little while, then attempt to use it. Maybe it would do what I wanted it to do, maybe it would crash. But I could NEVER just open it and use it to do what I needed.
@@IStMl yes, but apple people will be either too dumb or too proud to use it and why would they go out of their "ecosystem", and linux people are so resourceful that they would already have workarounds for it
I got around 20-25 MBps (Megabytes per sec) on my pc and my S23 Ultra , very satisfied with this rate. I think it depends on your wifi adapter on your pc. It must support MU-MIMO (on the new WiFi6) to get the higher transfer rate.
@@prasoonkumar97 it may depends on what WiFi spec you have on both sender and receiver (PC to Phone / or Phone to Phone) On my PC it has WiFi6E adapter also S23 Ultra too (I'm not sure 23 Ultra maybe Wifi 7 or something), in result I cloud get a higher transfer rate.
My experience is inconsistent: in around 80% of transfers the app chooses Bluetooth transmission over Wi-Fi. I have a 5Ghz router in 1m distance and it's all fine with the network. When I get lucky and Wi-Fi is chosen for a transmission, I get around 30 Mb/s transfer speed. Good to finally have something like this (and shame we didn't have have anything from Google/Microsoft until 2023).
Finally. I was waiting for something like this for Android and windows. I share my files alot. And i always use Gmail as file sharing mediate to move file from my phone to windows vis-a-versa. It's a pretty headache to do that.
For many years I've been using a local shared folder in my Windows PC. I connect my phone using CX File Explorer and drop the files in this folder. The speed is the maximum your router can handle. Since it uses UnPn, the wireless transfer speeds are up to 90MB/s for me. My PC is connected through Ethernet.
Wait, really? CX Explorer transfers at max of 20Mbps for me super slow. Though I have Upnp disabled. From my laptop to the truenas Server it goes at 1Gpbs though.
I'm from Germany and I have been using this feature for quite some time on my WIndows PC... and it works out perfectly fine without any hickups or anything. The App is in German and can be used as you'd expect it. So the only rock in the way is to get the exe, because the site is geoblocked when you're from Germany. But solving this is so easy, just set up a VPN and change it to a officially supported country and the android download page will show you the download button. After that, you can switch off the VPN and set Nearby Share up as everyone else... it'll work. Also: This is some of the greatest things Google could do to the Android Ecosystem, this is such a mighty feature with such high potential. I absolutely love it and don't want to miss out on this for even a hour. It's such a timesaver. People, use nearby share! ANd google should advertise this way more so people know of this feature existing on their phones.
Well I used it about a day or 2 transferring big file is no big deal when done from PC to phone but when transferring the same file from phone to PC. Then the speed drops to KBps and I have used wird to transfer file from phone to PC
Didn't know I had to download the app until this video, thought it was embedded in Windows. So I needed it because I share lots of files between my phone & PC. The upsides are it was easy to set up and makes file sharing relatively much easier than mobile apps such as Wifi Transfer Pro which are quite cumbersome to use wrt connecting the two (although it allows you to manage and transfer files to exact locations). Establishing a connection and sending files is very easy with Nearby Share. The downside is it's ANNOYINGLY SLOW - well, for me it is - and this has adversely affected my need to want to use it. Anyway we'll see.
I really liked that this became available for PC as it was the missing piece to really connect my Android devices with my Windows laptop. Quick Share ia good if you have all Samsung (including the Galaxy Books) but my laptop is a different brand so Nearby Share is a pretty good alternative.
@@MrKodanNche Yes i installed it few days ago and tested it on two laptops one with wifi 5(ac) and one with wifi 6(ax) and it only worked on one with AX and still had issues 😔 But the time it worked it was much much better then nearby share cuase it uses wifi direct unlike nearby share which limits your transfer speed based on the speed provided by ISP which is absolute nonsense.
I found this thing, I used it and I came here to say A HUGE THANK YOU to whoever did this from the Google team. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you !!! It's fking fantastic fast and all it should be for my android and windows setup I can send files at 100+ MBps FINALLYYYYYYYYY WOHOOOO. Yes, I am really this happy.
i tried it. Its not as great as it sounds bcz the difference between the mobile version of nearby share and the windows version is that the windows version requires an active internet connection while the mobile version works offline
2:38 the "Send with Nearby Share" shortcut does not show up for me in my right click menu, is there something I have to do to enable this? Otherwise, Nearby Share works as expected
From my quick and dirty testing, it looks like it uses Bluetooth for data transfer (100 KB/s tops) if it fails to make connection via Wi-Fi or when the computer doesn't have Wi-Fi at all, like my desktop PC. When it does achieve a connection via Wi-Fi, I was able to get over 25 MB/s. Both devices need to be connected on the same network for Wi-Fi transfer, though.
after installing the exe file it is not showing to login with google id and also its app is not showing anywhere. When I am checking the control panel it is available for un-install
@@imarchit It was 500mb. Got a max speed of 26kb/s when transferring from mobile to PC. Though another file which was 1,6gb transferred with 10mb/s from PC to phone
@@horizodawn I transferred a 2.5gig file from my PC to my phone at about 70MB/s it was done in a minute or less, and the same speed transferring it back to my PC.
A Android emulator from Google will be heavily appreciated because WSA is still not available and Google services dependent apps are crashing So a official Google Android virtual machine/emulator or virtual chrome os from Google will be appreciated and this nearby share is a life saver and extremely appreciated
That already exists, though. Android Studio (development app from Google) has a good emulator. But you shouldn't use that one. With a bit of ADB knowledge, you can use WSA despite it not being available. Search it up.
@@Honza368 I'm using it wsa dedicated Android for windows will be nice or if Google becomes serious with a desktop os or making Android or chrome os desktop class that will be a good step
Mine's not working, It just opened that downloading Progess bar, said Installation complete that's it. I can see Nearby share in control panel uninstall section, but not when searching it in C:/ Folder or start menu.
Curious as to why using a Gmail account vs a goggle workspace account using your own Google domain name has anything to do with dropping the speed to kb's.?? Doesn't make sense.
Which means I'm no longer forced to use Samsung Flow. It was always trash, ALWAYS crashing. I just uninstalled it because Nearby Share from Google is waaaaay better and way more stable, even for a Beta. What's odd, is that my system already came with Nearby Share (on windows), I was just never able to get it to work.
getting only around 20MBps which is disappointing as the steam local network transfer nets me around 35MBps on the same device. I think it's because its using my PCs wifi instead of Ethernet connection to transfer
Brave browser block downloading and says "This type of file may harm your computer". But I keep the intallation file, during installation Quickheal Antivirus blocked this software says its a virus!
Warning! nearby share PC didnt preserve date taken photos data! All photos will stamped as today. Not good for transfer memories, when you need to know when it's taken.
EDIT: the speed became very fast after toggling Bluetooth off and on again on my pc. It transfered 100MB file in less than 10 seconds. It's easily better than using google drive and snapdrop. this is game changer! I tried this on windows and android but this is very slow... It took 1 minute 40 seconds to transfer 10MB file on nearby share but I can transfer same file for only 10 seconds by using google drive or snapdrop. maybe because It's beta but man... I was disappointed.
when i am transfering from pc to phone i am getting aprox 50mps but when transfering form phone to pc i am getting around200kb.......my pc is connected to wifi through ethenet and my phone is connected to the same wifi
Its not a game changer it has to connect with same wifi network Imagine out side condition where u can't find a wifi network then what to do Ot if i have network i will share file with wifi network on any app Then why i use near by share It need more improvement to share file without same wifi network
It doesn't work if you don't have wifi router. It doesn't transfer directly phone to pc. While sharing mobile automatically turn off hotspot and pc says connect to network. #NotUseable
Why tf is all footage shown here showing 20-50KB transfer speed? is this supposed to be to discourage people? cause it sure did work on me until I went to Reddit to read about it. Downvote on the video for sure
