Nothing but control but come to a stop using the front brake with steering angle? Should always bring a bike to a stop with the rear brake especially slow speed manoeuvres
@@lices you're not clever. Just going backwards would not have accomplished this so easily. Do you call everything stupid just because it's different and efficient?
@@lices "...that I won't try with my 650 lbs Triumph Trophy SE!!!" Because you're right!!! Try to explain that damage to the insurance company, if dropped trying this, eh! The side panels alone on my Triumph Trophy SE are $500 each!!! And a bitch to remove, and reinstall!!!
Lol he had it under control...that is a relatively light bike. From the perspective of a non biker I could see where they may think he almost dropped it lmao
I guess you guys didn’t notice he had the bars turned and hit the brakes a little to hard and he’s tip toeing. Easy way to drop a bike. But he didn’t which is why he said ALMOST 🤝
I can always tell someone is still new to riding when they do that look down when coming to a stop. Veteran riders come to a stop from any speed and keep their heads up. Maybe a quick glance down to ensure the kickstand is going onto a clean surface.
Boss move. My brother worked at a dealership and showed me that trick. I always thought bit placed too much stress on the kickstand so I don’t use the maneuver
Actually I did not see a near drop , in fact is a standard procedure to turn around a bike , pivoting in the main stand . Well if you have a street fighter , you can not do that 😂
No, sir, a kickstand is not made for maneuvering your motorcycle, it's made for resting your motorcycle while parked. This guy is just another yuppie with an expensive motorcycle that doesn't give a damn about abusing it!
I think every rider absolutely must drop their bike every 2 years or so. It smartens you up real quick. I have been riding 50 years myself, now on a 2022 BMW r1250Gs. Dropped once when new. No shame.
Yea, a little risky on the front brake part. The thrning part was done well. Had he slipped all those bikers would have helped him just to keep from seeing it fall. Bike community is bad ass. Always help each other. How ever you may go to do that one day, and since its a newer bike you could damage the kickstand sensor, and the bike wont start because it thinks the stand is down.
I've don't this a few times and try not to. It's a lot of weight on a component that has a lot to do with your bike shutting off or not mid ride, lol, unless you're already bypassing that switch
RU-vid and social media has made people think its cooler than it is... What's really cool to me is riding and maneuvering your motorcycle with a leg on each side and the motor running! I think this rider had ample room to move, but just like he had to get the matching BMW jacket, he wants to display a certain image...
@I Like Turtles agree 100%. I know that side stand move is an old biker move used in extremely tight situations. But this dude clearly trying to impress someone but looked like a complete tool in the process.
Never do this with a running engine! If you have bad luck, oil pump is on the right side, and you give the bike too much angle it runs dry of oil, your engine is done... And no driving corners with the same or more lean angle isn't the same, the centrifugal forces pushes the oil pretty much straight down in the pan there... There wry many broken engines because people dropped the bike wile standing and didn't immediately turn the engine off..
pre much every moddern bike auto shuts off after detecting a fall for this reason and others... so it wouldnt matter, itll shutoff by itself if it needs to
@@Drunk0nCustard well yes and no.. If you do not fall like this guy, you engine won't shut off, but the angle might be enough to let your oilpump run dry, if you ever disassembled a motorcycle engine you will know, there is a good chance of running dry if you bank it to the left 45°+, and most of the engines have their oil pump on the right side.. I personally wouldn't risk it especially when there is no need whatsoever to keep your engine running, except for thinking you look cool maybe.. And tbh. Most bikers I know don't onw 25k€ post 2018 bikes with IMU, most of them drive 5 to 20 year old bikes.. I personally drive a 2005 Fireblade, and most modern bikes have a hard time catching up because there is no traction control or ABS slowing me down 😜 despite being 20 horses short of the newer bikes.. Actually I think all the electronic helpers prevent many people from riding better, it makes sure you don't kill yourself that fast but you never experience the true limit.. Well this is getting much to philosophical here... 😄
@@Drunk0nCustard I wouldn't generally say that, that heavily depends on the placement of the oil pump and the level you're supposed to have in the sump. the lean angle you achieve by putting it on the stand an rotating it, is much higher than what you would normally achieve without dropping the bike - you're right there is quite some security built in, but it wouldn't bet my money on it risking a 30k bike simply because I'm too cool to turn the engine off..
Nothing in the world required to do this trick which is very useful thing by the way. In a confined space or when don't have enough room to do U turns.
I don’t know if anyone knows this but did you know kickstands were absolutely not designed to pivot at that angle as well as support that level of weight? One day someone’s gonna film there kickstand breaking
