This is one of my favourite figures in our modest collection. Maybe it's because when I think of the creature I picture him in black and white, but it just works. Hoping all the Universal Monsters are available in mono...and still holding out hope for a Creature From the Black Lagoon

Fraid very incorrect, taken from a film Historian "The thing is, for bolts, they could definitely be more… boltlike. Over on the Mandela Effect subreddit, r/Retconning, there are suspicions that where the creature once had chunky, hexagonal, none-boltier bolts, at some point it’s all shifted to something smoother and unthreaded, more like an electrode. The creature is brought to life by electricity, after all, and whatever the bolts/plugs are, they’re metal, so it would make sense that they were used in channeling the electricity into the body to power it. However, looking back at the 1931 film, they don’t appear to be connected to anything - if you watch the scene in which the creature is animated, it’s held in place with a brace on its head, and large croquet hoop-style barriers going down its body, but there’s nothing near where the neck bolts are. "

Frankenstein and the creature from the black lagoon have always been my favorite universal since I was little...so with Frankie I gotta get both of them!

Just ordered one of these, and seeing the side by side comparison you did, I think I'll only be grabbing the black and white ones. Colored Frank looks awesome, but the black and white looks the best imo. Also, can't wait for them to release the Wolfman! Fingers crossed they add Gill-man to this line soon too!

Both, the colored version and the black and white version of Frankenstein look really good. However, as you've already pointed out, the details stand out more when it comes to the black and white version. Otherwise, thanks as always Spot. I really appreciate the continued hard work. Keep it up!

I was all but sold on the colour version, but, now I've seen this one properly, I'm leaning more towards getting this one. The green skin has always bothered me. Whilst well aware that Jack Pierce did indeed paint him that colour, he did so because it read well as dead flesh on black and white film stock. If you look at more modern and better researched zombie movies, you can see that rotten flesh is never green. Were Frankenstein filmed in technicolour, it's a safe bet that even Pierce wouldn't have gone with that shade. The black and white version will at least allow me to see him as Universal intended I suppose.

Hey spot, been watching you for a while because I really got into Friday the 13th action figures and your reviews on them really helped me to know what it looks like, what accessories it has, and the articulation. Honestly you are amazing and I recently ordered a terminator action figure (tech noir) , I watched the video you made on it and it did help a lot! I didn’t know what material the jacket was because it looks rubbery but pretty cloth like, and you helped! Also I knew what accessories it had and the articulation. I love the backdrops you use because it’s not like a random wall in a house, it’s very smooth looking and very clear. You are amazing, and I know I have already said that but you really are helpful and you have a relaxing voice. You’re a great guy, and I hope you have a great day!

Ever since I started hoping Neca would do these a few years back I have been hoping they'd make the Invisible Man, I can even think of what accessories they could do. As good as the colourised ones look(this and I think Wolfman are the only revealed ones), I feel I'd get the Black & White versions for screen accuracy. Agree on the clothing colouring. I am glad the colourised version is more how he would have been on set as opposed to the cliche` green he usually gets done in which was influenced by Herman Munster from memory.

Got the B&W version delivered today. Stunning. Personally I'll be keeping to the mono versions for the whole collection as that's how I picture the characters, but that's just me. If only NECA could get Creature from the Black Lagoon as well

Although your review on B/W Frankenstein was months ago, I'm a new subscriber going through your videos. As you were talking about the color of the jacket on B/W Frank, I personally thought the way it looked was fine... then I looked at some stills from the movie and have to agree with you. I think the darker color used on Color Frank would have looked great on his B/W twin. Love your reviews!

this might sound stupid but is it weird i actually think they could maybe do a future re-release of this figure with maybe some lab machines or maybe some different alternate heads like one resembling boris karloff, and some resembling Bela lugosi, lon chaney jr and glenn strange's versions of the character, and maybe a son of frankenstein version, that would still alow for switching the heads and hands if you wanna change expressions or maybe even kinda make your own version of the monster, like lugosi frankenstein in the fur coat holding the flowers or something like that

I ended up getting the black and white one yesterday. But then again I didn't know there was a color one either because everyone I seen in. Stores around me was the black and white one I wonder if it's like a region thing or random chance. Whatever anyway I'm glad I ended up with the black and white one because you say. Frankenstein I think black and white probably because I'm familiar with the movies not the posters and things. I also agree this is the one time to release of a figure with two different paint Schemes is acceptable. For the universal monsters because like you said posters hes in color in movies hes in Black and White. So its only logical in a way to make one in color and one in black and white.

Seeing them side by side I have to wonder why the color version has the hair painted differently. The black and white has several strands in the forehead whereas the color version is just one single mass. B&W looks better to me.

Looks like he got less of a neck in the black and white one thab the colored one lol. Yeah lol too bad they did not do a angry one. He'd be getting angry with the shackles and fire lol. Instead of two happy or jovial expressions lol. I'd pick up either one. Doesn't make that much a difference to me. Definitely not getting both lol.

I did not read all of the comments, i dont know if someone has already covered this. But did you not notice that the front hairline on the color version is not painted with space between them. The BW does which is correct, where the color version does not. I myself had not noticed this untill I had watched this review. Wonder if Neca also only noticed it after production, and corrected it on the BW version.

If they were doing them all in BW but there is no plans at this time for that. that said I am doing color because I want them to match. by the way the way I know that there are no plans to do them all in BW is because I asked Neca.

Hate to be the party pooper here, but this has enough wrong to make me not want it. First off it's too fat, including the face. Second the hair lacks separated bangs. And third the top of the head is not supposed to be level with a sharp edge all around. It's supposed to slope downward from the front to the back with a soft roundening off at the back.

@@TheReviewSpot Because All I wrote was what I thought of this figure. Did you have more than one you tube page open and responded to another post by mistake? I've done that more than once. I made a vid of this Frankenstein too along with my much improved rehaul. Picture quality is poor, but you can see how mine is so much better.

Why does neca insist on exposing joints on everything.. least he diesnt have a diaper,but look at his arms.. almost as bad as Casey jones and April..why ..his arms looks like he has a second shirt on.. and April's legs looks horrible and casey John's arms..my god
