Located in Southern California. Run a commercial tree care and landscape maintenance company for over 20 years. Started offering Junk Removal services to our clients about 2 years ago. Start off when I was walking a commercial property with the property managers and they said that they needed a call 1 800 got junk to pick up a couch that someone illegally dumped and when I heard how much they charged to pick up a couch I told him no problem we can handle that Now we handle all that junk removal at our commercial properties that we maintain.

I also recommend you get non skid/slip and steel sleeve that runs along the bottom of the boot to protect yourself from stepping on that one nail that's almost a foot long with the steel toe. They may be heavy, but when you step on that nail and it doesn't go through your feet will thank you and your walking on wet asphalt during or after you will be thanking your boots that you can go back to work the next day.

Think your video of what tools is needed. Was the best I've seen. Just 1 thing to add. A 🔋 power leaf blower. I have the Dewalt 60v. It goes with all other Dewalt 🔋. So save you on 1 battery for every tool. Plus you can us it indoors.
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 3 года назад
I agree! There are definitely situations that leaf blowers work and do not work in, but I would not consider one necessary. The can definitely make life easier thats for sure!
@junkzombiesllc3259
@junkzombiesllc3259 3 года назад
@@SteveConroy1 very true about the leaf blower. But having the right tools to get the job done fast and done right is alway better. I just don't believe in waiting for the tools you need. Because yes you can wait and get it for free. But some tools are definitely worth the extra money to finish those jobs faster then to work 20 more jobs and spend 5/20 min extra of work. Rather then invest in better tools. We will be investing in a dewalt 🔋 shop vac soon. Tool is not necessary. But drywall in landscape rock is a pain to pickup. But a customers seeing you go that extra mile pays off more then not to have the right tools. We always get compliments when we break out the Harbor Freight nail finder. To walk and pickup nails after we clean it up. Especially shingles from roof pickups.

Been following for a while. I am about to retire from the Army after 20 years and I want to finance a large Dump Trailer and just dive into my local area. I tried my hand at junk removal as an independent contractor just working with my truck and i made some good money. I had business cards and paid to advertise on Next Door app... Started in my neighborhood and started to expand. I couldn't put the time i wanted into it because i was working full time Active Duty in the Army at the time but I found the work fulfilling and made tons of contacts so fast. I also love flipping random stuff on the side. This type of work IS MY JAM and i can't wait to do it full time. Thanks for the content and free advice. Church bulletins GOLD advice like that my friend... I think i'll call it "Clean and Clean and Clear Junk Removal" also plan on doing dirt and gravel deliveries and maybe some landscaping/power washing..... Fayetteville, NC is HOT for junk removal y'all

I don't recall the brand name, but sledgehammer wise if it's a fancy looking tough rubber/ plastic kind that says unbreakable on it, it's garbage. We broke tons of them out in the oilfield lol. Granted we did more swinging there than you'd do in junk removal.
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 3 года назад
I believe it. For the work we use them for, I'd be shocked if I broke one. You might use a sledge hammer once or twice a day to bust up furniture that cant be broken down be the old smash and kick routine.

Great video, looks like we are doing alot of the same things. I like the smaller Brutes also, they fit through doors easier. Go through alot of those Husky bags myself. I found a glove that doesnt rip and we usually throw them away because they get so dirty. They are from Quill and are gray with the blue rubber grip. Cost is about $17 a dozen but worth it. Thanks for another great video!
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 3 года назад
Very true about the barrels. We used a Firm Grip glove for a while, lasted a good amount of time but was $10 for 3 pairs. These green ones were using now are $7 for 10 pairs. They have some grip and are thin which is nice. I cant find any decent gloves I can order in bulk though.

I gotta ask you, is it always fun to demolish furniture with the sledgehammer? Lol this is one of the reasons I want to start a business in this field.
@SteveConroy1
@SteveConroy1 3 года назад
It's fun for sure but it can be extremely annoying as well lol. The new furniture breaks the second you drop it. The old furniture can sometimes remain fully intact after multiple swings and smashes with a sledge. Making the phrase "they don't make them like the used to" 100% accurate.

I heard from junk removal authority. Hard plastic wheels on dolly mess up the flooring of customer, so Lee recommends soft plastic wheels. What are your thoughts on the hard vs soft plastic wheel situation? Have you messed up any of your customers floors with the hard plastic wheels on the dolly?
@hashtagandrewharrison
@hashtagandrewharrison 2 года назад
In my opinion it depends on where you are. I'm in Arizona. I lost 4 sets of inflatable wheels to thorns in a month. Soft, inflatable wheels are better if you can keep them inflated, but hard wheels will last a lot longer. I'm rarely inside the home, and when I am it's almost always tile floors, so hard wheels are my go to. Nothing worse than pulling the hand truck out for a heavy item like a refrigerator only to have to drag it out because you're flat.
