I am not a Native American, but for some reason, spend time thinking about this particular erasure, which I find telling, in its implications: the truth of its ongoing inequities, and the huge land-grab it represents. I look forward to reading Ned Blackhawk's book. I also wish to comment on what a fine interviewer John Donatich is, equalled only by his exquisite ability to listen. My thanks to both gentlemen for time so well spent.

This is AWESOME!!!!! The ability to challenge, with factual evidence, the historical narratives of the colonizers that have been cast unto the world as being the defacto truth, speaks to the wonderment of these times. "Until the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter." ~ African Proverb Thank you for your scholarly endeavors.

I like how Ned doesn’t say “rewrite” history (sounds arbitrary). Remake or unmake. Yes, relevance and wider view are getting beyond ambiguity so we establish meaning behind nomenclature= YES FINALLY. For instance, I’d like the naming of sports teams to become a discussion about great Native American/Indian/Indigenous leaders (rather than a simple dropping of a name which might just lead to more of the same old same- erasure of importance/culture/people). I’m from MN and I am excited to read your book. We’ve got Pike’s Island and Minnehaha here. We didn’t give promised money (treaty money) and starvation led to the Dakota Conflict. We’re also the Dred Scott state. Anyway, here I go to listen instead of write. Thank you Ned Blackhawk. Ps I think I read you are Shoshone. Is Shoshone North Dakota and Wyoming? Or was that the end rather than the beginning of where the Shoshone might call home.
