@@baltasargutierrez5366 Not completely true. The text of the Japanese hymn is indeed (much) older. The music however was first written in 1880. Furthermore was the Dutch anthem specifically written in order to explain why and how the Netherlands became an independent sovereign country.

It's a country with: - politicians with no backbones, they like to kiss up to EU / USA - no ancient imperial pride (except for some overseas territories) - history build on slaves - no honor's in time of despair, ww1, ww2 (surrendered after 5 days of "fighting"), cold war, Bosnian war, etc. - genocide on Indonesian people (very cowardly) - people who are scared of muslims - citizens who are scared to stand up against the government - Feminism and Gay pride as trade mark - no nationalism / patriotism - an anthem only about the founder of the Netherlands and not about it's people and country itself Still proud?

Well, it was never intended to be an anthem, of the hundreds of Dutch patriotic songs they made during the Dutch war of Independence, they chose this.
