4:59 "And then there was a new, searing pain, like a fiery knife in his belly, and Nedry stumbled, reaching blindly down to touch the ragged edge of his shirt, and then a thick, slippery mass that was surprisingly warm. And with horror, he suddenly knew he was holding his own intestines in his hands. The dinosaur had torn him open. His guts had fallen out." ~ Michael Crichton, JURASSIC PARK

@jonathansmith8672
@jonathansmith8672 10 месяцев назад
@kennethyates I know. The book version is insanely more graphic than the movie adaptation. It was even more gross in the book when Muldoon and Gennaro were riding in the Jeep through the jungle and they came across Nedry's disemboweled body. A group of compys were also seen feasting on Nedry's leg. 😵‍💫😵‍💫

The book is a horror story, but the movie had to be toned down because it would have gotten an “R” rating, and to Spielberg that was bad because it meant more people couldn’t watch it. Even Arnold’s graphic death was removed from the movie, but we saw Ellie grab his arm, so we get a hint to what happened to him.

Not being familiar with this channel, I was surprised at first. Imagining what I was going to see was a clip from the film, I then thought, on seeing the animation, that it must be a section from some Jurassic Park-themed video game with which I was unfamiliar. What I got instead was a fantastic depiction of a chapter from Michael Crichton's original novel. Well done! When I got that novel at the age of 12 or 13 I cheated and read the "Nedry" chapter first, as that section of the film really stuck in my mind when I saw it at the age of eight or nine: more so even than the velociraptors in the kitchen or the infamous water cups trembling at the sound of the T-rex's footsteps, which are the scenes you are supposed to remember. Just the idea of being cornered by a creature without really knowing whether it's dangerous and then discovering too late that it is really stayed with me, so I thought I'd read the chapter from which that scene was based first. I am pleased to say you have brought back a lot of nostalgia. You've got everything: his opening the electric gate with his bare hand, his hearing something that sounds like an owl, then realising that it isn't, the hesitancy, his confrontation with the dinosaur and even the detail of his landing on the creature's foot when he collapses is there. Excellent work!

I was almost afraid to click on this, because as much as I love your work Nedry's death in the book was absolutely horrendous. Especially, I've always thought, because book-Nedry is a much more sympathetic figure than film-Nedry. InGen had repeatedly stuffed him over, badmouthed him to other clients, refused to fully explain what they wanted and then blamed him when their vague specs led to mistakes. What he did was reckless, stupid and wrong, but his motives were much more clearly established and understandable. I think this is an excellent interpretation, including scaling the dilo back to its original size and putting it a distance away as Crichton did.

If you think about it... that one we saw in the film might not have actually been full grown... probably an early adolescent. Nedry did say "You're not one of your big brothers, you're not so bad!" Could he have been referring to a larger specimen? or could he be referring to another dinosaur on the island... not that it really matters since he became Dilo food shortly after muttering that line to begin with. Inb4 comments about the frill.... IF it had the frill IRL, odds are it would've been either A: something for defense, necessary to intimidate something larger (like on a Frilled Lizard), or B: It could've been used by males only as a display for females. If the latter, than the one we saw was a young male who saw Nedry as a competing male for territory (before seeing him as food). If the former, it would've shown the frill because Nedry was larger, and wanted to try and scare him off... dinner being served was just a bonus in either case.

Yeah, I see, in ‘The River’ we could already see the work you’re doing on facial expressions, keep it up!

@@ali-awadaWhat I hear a lot of other animators do is that they do the facial animations last and to quite the level of detail. In particular a lot of good GMod and SFM animators do this.

As a huge Jurassic Park fan, these are amazing- you really nailed down the tone! I would LOVE if Universal made a show with each episode being a self contained Jurassic Park story.

Definitely a more accurate death for Nedry than the JP movie was able to show, and still keep its PG-13 rating. You're doing such great work!

This is so cool. I love these videos. You should do one with the troodons from Jurassic Park: The Game where they drag somebody off and lay their eggs inside of him.

Some of the comments here are absolutely out of touch, it boggles the mind! The creator of these videos doesn’t work on commission for you, yet some people feel the need to tear on the animation as if he owes you these videos! He doesn’t work for Pixar. He makes these as a hobby. Pull your heads out! I for one absolutely adore the animation of Nedry and the giggly chin is the cherry on top, emphasising his chubbiness. The level of detail is astounding and I hope you don’t take some of these classless comments personally because they only highlight how entitled some people believe they are! Loved the vid, shared it and donated! ❤

Thank you for the kind words! You have made my day. I agree that some people enjoy leaving nasty comments under the guise of “constructive criticism” but that is the nature of the internet. I’m not a professional animator still trying to figure things out. Appreciate the donation! You are a gem

@@ali-awada Don't let it get to you. Things like animation will improve with time. You already know how to tell a story really well. As a matter of fact, this video inspired me to actually start reading the original Novel, and I'm having a blast. Thanks for that :)

The way I see it, it’s nobody’s business leaving “constructive criticism” unless they themselves are professionals in a particular field. Otherwise it’s simply an opinion, and opinions are a dime a dozen! You continue to entertain me with each upload that I’m shocked you’re actually not on the official JP writing team

@@Intrepid42643ah yes! The old “what about me and my opinion? What’s the world going to do if they don’t hear my opinion?” Anything to get your daily dose of being offended 😂 obviously nobody is saying you can’t give your opinion, genius. Just don’t be deluded into thinking that weather you liked or disliked something somehow constitutes constructive criticism. The two are VERY different. My comment is in reference to the entitled folk requesting a remake because they wanted to see something other than what was on screen
