Hah! @ilr, I didn't notice it at first while reading the comments until @Mikko Kurvinen Andersson pointed it out, but you really are responding to every single comment that defends Tim Pool's place on the left of the political spectrum. He's definitely on the political left. Libertarian-left, but still left. Personally, I'd consider him to be mildly authoritarian-left since he advocates for a mixed economy, but he's definitely not right. I've watched every single video of his on both of his channels and now on Subverse as well since finding him about 6 months ago, not because I agree with him, but because he's fairer than any other journalist I've found. And I've went back and watched a considerable part of his I just checked both his main channel and his opinion channel to see how many of his videos I've seen. I've watched every single video on his opinion channel, which was 3 videos a day up until about 2 or 3 months ago, and 5 videos a day now for the full year he's had the channel up, and every single video on his main channel for the last 11 months, and have watched the majority of the ones out to a year and a half out, with sporadic watches out to two years. The problem with your criticism is that you are not seeing the forest for the trees. The issue he cares about covering most is free speech and the related cause of honesty in journalism. Just the other day he covered the coastguardsman that was a white supremacist that was planning to execute politicians on the left, but since he cares most about covering free speech issues the overwhelming majority of examples he finds of people fighting against free speech are going to be on the left. The authoritarian-left, as he points out. His second-most-cared-about-issue is covering racism, which combined with the free-speech-related videos make up the majority of his catalogue. With this issue he stands against intersectionalism and other ideologies that judge people based on the color of their skin. Most of the examples of these people, who he calls crazy racists, are on the left, especially those in positions of power. And really, it's the far-left's own fault. If they had left him alone during any of the many times he's been threatened while covering far-left protests and not have gotten violent with him he probably wouldn't be focusing so hard on bringing them to light. So really, it's a question of whether or not you think being pro-free speech and anti-racism are positions somehow incompatible with the left. Also, I think it's unfair of you to assume that he's a "Dave-Reubenesque Koch brothers Plant" as you so sanely stated above. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that a journalist that worked at both Vice and Vox and who is mixed-race, can believe that preventing people from speaking and judging a person's worth by their immutable characteristics is wrong without someone sponsoring him. I'm right-libertarian, almost full-on anarchist, and I still watch him because I needed a news source that I could trust. That's his business model and it's why he's succeeding. When I watch his videos I know that I'm watching news (and even on his opinion channel this is true) that has been researched beforehand and is not sensationalized. And then I roll my eyes when he voices his opinion that the government needs to regulate the tech giants or why he his pro-choice or some other lefty non-sense, but I respect him because I know that I can trust that he's a real journalist.

The problem I have with The Young Turks is how crazy they have gotten with some far left insane views on some topics. One of the worst one is the guns topic. Their views have actually evolved from a more neutral view of getting mental evaluations included as a requirement on top of the criminal background check to their all guns kill people, get rid of them all view. This is just one example of how they have went from a left leaning centralist group to their leaning more and more towards the extreme ends of the left. And they did use to be less bias than before when reporting news. Now it feels like their news is how THEY view the truths to be and cuts out some facts intentionally that doesn't align with their beliefs. I used to watch them for a long time, but I did end up stopping.

Steven Crowder does the Change My Mind videos. At first glance it can seem odd and unproductive but once you start watching them you see that he is just trying to sit down with people (often college students) who really have no idea what they are talking about and just hear things but do no research themselves. It is interesting debate too.

I've watched him debate people with little knowledge one a subject, but when people with more knowledge challenge him he say the left is too scared of him. Lost all respect for the young Turks during their coverage of the migrant crisis. As someone who lived in an area directly effected by it, their coverage was utter and pure garbage. It opened my eyes to their reporting on several other issues of witch I knew little but had just assumed they were reporting the facts on.

We haven't for about 100 years, but I think the misconception has stuck around cuz one of the offshoots of our church (the FLDS church I think) still practices it.
