Welcome back!
This week we are checking out the tenterfield and Glen innes regions in our Next Gen Ford Ranger and Roadstar caravan. First stop is the tank traps and Thunderbolts hideout great couple spots to explore. We get stopped by a water crossing in Deepwater ironically.. on our way into camp. We then learn of some bad news that a hard drive has corrupted and we lose a years worth of footage. heading into Glen Innes to see if it can be recovered. Another stop along the way is Thunderbolts cave which is a short walk to explore the bushrangers camp. After that we head into Uralla to the Golf course donation camp which is an awesome spot to stop and explore Armidale and there art museum.

So sorry that you have lost your hard drive - a good lesson for us all. Love Juice - he is obviously an absolute character. It is amazing how quickly pets become another family member. Absolutely pissed. I used to thoroughly enjoy your happy-go-lucky weekly videos, then darn YT canceled my subscription!! It took me a few weeks to realise that you guys hadn't flown the coup (moved back to reality) but were still making your way from one wonderful town to the next. Now I have some catching up to do - that's my Sunday filled! Keep up the great work guys.

Yeah losing data sucks. I would suggest a NAS box with 3 or more drives which you can back up your data locally with failover redundancy. Then get another one at a friend / family place to backup to. Then also setup an archive plan for long term storage.

Sorry to hear about your hard drive. Always have 3 backups, and check them. My opinion in your situation, one backup in your car, another in your caravan, and another in the cloud (even a NAS connected to a family members router to access remotely). Also use a backup program that will automate it.

Some great camps there guys still loving your videos, we met you guys at Southend a couple of years ago, just after I hit the gate post with the caravan on the way into camp. The free camp at deepwater when we stayed there had platypus in the creek, again great video 👍

One thing I do to back up important stuff is to burn a couple of DVD back ups, portable DVD burners are pretty cheap to get. Thanks for sharing your journey again, and it is finally cooled of a bit in Perth now :)

DVDs get scratched. They're not much more reliable than a HDD

Sorry for having a giggle when you talked about Guyra, which is pronounced “Guy-rah” (guy as in boy), and it’s the coldest place in NSW other than the Snowy Mountain areas. Oh, and there’s nothing bad about a chip butty; we’ve always made with hot chips and packets of chips (crisps). For a special treat, buy a bbq chook and have a bit of chook and chips on your butty; protein as well, 🍗🍗🍟🍟

There are more tank traps on Waterfall Way Ebor. Unfortunately, entry can be hard to find. There are no signs showing access. Quite an interesting spot.

Hi Bryce, Chelsea Thanks for sharing Aussie with us. Aren't you guys heading in the wrong direction for this time of year? Hey Bryce, we have a Ford wiltrak and noticed your towing mirrors. Do they fall off at all or move when trucks pass? We are looking at towing mirrors and not sure whether to buy the you beaut ones or the kind you have. Are you happy with them?

Hey! Yes we were heading the wrong way because we had some business down in Victoria. If you watch the next video (tomorrow) we explain it a bit more 👍🏽😃 The mirrors are Milenco and have never come off in 4 years of travels.

I used to work in a data recovery center many years ago. Recovery is almost always possible in some part but it is always expensive.

Helpful hint back everything up to two harddrives, then copy transfer the episode you are woking back onto laptop and rebackup when finished, two both harddrives, footage is a pain to keep safe,

I back up all of our images and data on Google drive. You can setup your laptop to auto backup at set intervals. Google drive charge small monthly fee. it cheap security. We leave our diesel heater on all night on low on cold nights. Love your content, keep up the good work. Give JUICE a pet for me.

This has happened to quite a few of your fellow travellers as well. Can be devastating for the lost footage, but as others have mentioned - multiple backup sources will protect the data.

SSD Drives are the best for backups - basically just a BIG UUSB they do wear out over time but less prone to data loss as no mechanical parts. Something like SAMSUNG SSD T7 1TB Portable External SSD. depending on storage capacity. best having a few 1TB drives to share the data. try Crucial X9 Pro come in 1,2 and 4TB capacities. Ya get what ya pay for....:-)

Great video. I feel for you losing all that footage. I have a documentary I made of the South Australian Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club on a hard drive that I just cannot access. I have a copy on a DVD but it is copy protected. The hard drive also has hundreds of photos of our kids when hey we’re small. Backup, backup, backup is all I can say.

I don't trust the cloud. I have my files backed up twice on 2 separate Seagate portable 5TB hard drives. Suggest it's a cheap option as you can pick the drives up for about $200 each from JB Hi-Fi. Hope this helps. Love your videos.

Sorry about the hard drive, Darren at DJ'S is excellent and very busy because of that. Bit sad you didn't show the streets of the towns you have gone through. This is my local area. As always a great video. Yes, live and learn re HD. Personally I have two very good quality external Hard Drives that I back EVERYTHING onto. Not just all my videos and pictures from when I was a child until present day (I am now 68 lol), but I also back up all my important documents/scans/emails etc. My HD's also have a password just as an added security feature. The reason I have two HD is simply as another backup albeit overkill. As the old saying goes. if your house burns down you can always rebuild but if your photos/videos are lost then you just cannot replace them. Personally I don't like "cloud" etc as I just am not sure about it and the cyber attacks happening these days. So 2 x good quality HD do it for me. On another matter how have you found the Milenco Towing Mirrors? Have you has any trouble with them blowing back at all? Stay safe and happy travels.

Great advice on the hard drives, we need to be more pro active I think! The milenco mirrors are great, been using them for 5 years now and no issues at all! Never had them blow back on the triton or ranger! Thanks for watching 🍻👍🏽

My great great grandfather was held up by captain thunderbolt returning to Glen innes from the tenterfield races as he was a musician with a band and he said to thunderbolt we are just poor musicians and thunderbolt said if i get someone richer later on i will return your money so he took thier addresses and a few weeks later he returned there money😊👍❤️

Shop around there are a.ot of data recovery outfits out there with better prices than $900-$2000....I would be fuming at losing a years worth of data...

We are regular viewers of your channel. We just feel your videos are becoming a bit too vanilla, just to nice and fluffy. Surly there must be more there never seems to be any disasters other than the hard drive and the rain. I get the feeling we are only shown the good bit of your journey.
