Building new home is easier because you start fresh. It costs more money to correct mistakes in old home during remodeling phase.

Thank you for your Honest answers here. IM in that situation now. I love the area as I used to live in the neighbor hood so it very safe and nice. The arangement of a few room in my opion are out of position, and I think I can reaarange by movng some walls. Thank God its a single floor house. I want just want to be sure because if the house is 265,000 and most other homes are 350,000 would it be smart of me to do so. I think you gave me the answer I need. Thank you

Hi , I am looking an answer for if I buy the house right now which is 1760 square foot build up area but the lot area is 8000 square foot , is it wise to demolish old house and construct 3 new house on same area , like condo style with hire general contractor

Deal breaker for me is remodeling to get what we want. Taste & over renovating can cause the cost to exceed new construction. We have built in subdivisions with a builder few times. I believe growing up on acreage in FL has help want to open space for a bigger area for garage/pole barn & office with entertainment space in MI. They don't charge Sq ft living space in a basement or attached garage. Now location & utilities on right size lot is more important on a stand alone compared to a subdivision & HOA fees which is a big draw back to us. A lot that is over 1 acre with city amenities is a hard find but after looking the last few yrs we landed on what i believe is the right spot & still close to access of freeway & main rds & shopping. We are living in a home we lease right now. Love your break down. We have looked at well over 100 lots. Definately interested in taking look at the owner builder class.com
