Having more gears can help you turn. You don't only steer with your joystick, you can steer with your drivetrain as well and blast out of corners while you're still in the sweet spot of the powerband.

different engines definitely have different weights in this game... the engine you put in can have a huge impact on the way the car handles. try putting the 4.4 V8 in the M3 GTR... makes it handle differently (more turn in, better grip) than the stock motor w everything else the same

You can swap an engine into a VTEC V8 with turbochargers but you need to limit the gearbox that will only limit the speed to 220 mph
