This has me laughing my ass off as a fan of both A$AP Rocky and Travis Scott. I thought it was a slight on Rocky. When I realized it wasn’t a joke it was even funnier
I thought I was the only one that didn't get the whole anime vibe this game has. It just does not work for me, well not in NFS at least. Maybe if they made the entire game cell shaded like Auto Mobilista (PS2 not the newer sim racer) it would have worked.
Unpopular take. Unbound is a return to form. The art, style, customization, and soundtrack. I haven't enjoyed an nfs game THIS much since Carbon. Heat was boring asf, payback just f*cking sucked, 2015 was a perfect return to form excpet for the handling model. I will say though, the dialog is cringe as fuck. Though I love Rydel. I hated every other character. I really dont care about story when it comes to games, especially not nfs. Personally Unbound is my favorite in the series. I love the direction they went with the art and the style. The comic and anime effects are awesome as hell
Travis Scott would've been cool in NFS game, I remember in NFS 2015 just by listening to his Nightrider track would get me excited. Heat was insane, Unbound is just... Meh, it made a lot of people to hate it including me because of Cell Shading and very much dull story and city that just has a same layout like Palm City. Criterion should continue on supporting Heat after Ghost Games got shut down, Heat would actually put the Franchise back on the track. Great video
Good review overall. Need for speed is sadly dying in my eyes. For me, my last good need for speed is NFS The Run. If only they made a sequel to it, with better graphics and a better physics engine. Cause nfs doesn't have a strong dialogue/rich story games. So for a story like the Run it would be easy for them to make it good. But what i really want from nfs is a most wanted 2 like the old one from 2005 game, with a better story and better cut-scenes (and ofc graphics and all the good stuff). Sadly, i don't think it will happen cause in this day and age, it's all about microtransaction and targeting a large audience even if it means altering the game (making it bad).
How they haven't scrapped the handling model that stems from 2015 is still beyond me. Sure they tweaked it and isn't as unbearable, but it's still not great. It definitely would've been more tolerable if it had a handling model that made driving much more satisfying.
I think Unbound’s gameplay and progression is easily the best out of all the NFS that came out in the last 10 years. But it seems more people will outright avoid the game just because of its art style or music. Which makes ask what exactly are people looking to get out of a NFS game?
I personally don't like the gameplay in unbound n heat. My friend group of 5 is split on these games, but I just don't think the gameplay FEELS fun or fast. I loved the 2015 game, and besides some questionable decisions playback was super fun. But I feel like the newer games try to hard to be realistic, making it not fun. (Highest I've used in unbound Is A rank). But i dont understand why ever rank A in under would purposely feel painful to play. Example drift builds in NFS heat are just disappointing and singlehandedly made me stop playing the game. And I'm not too hooked on the NFS franchise, as in I will play Forza Horizon to get a better experience.
I just wonder who the game was appealed towards. I applaud them for trying to stand out, but in my opinion I don't think it was executed as well as it could have been
@@kamuikross? It's art style isn't supposed to appeal to a certain group of people. What? 2015 is literally the same thing but with real people. Did you forget the city is based off Chicago? A city that's known for graffiti? That's the appeal, the city and what the feel of the city gives off. Not that hard to figure out. It's not anime either, they call it living graffiti. Which is a mix of cel shading and graffiti. Which leans more towards the latter.
A good review, IMO. I do agree with you about the 'anime' visual FX. To me, they seem wholly unecessary - they don't add anything useful, and their style jars against the good-looking photorealism of the rest of the game world. I'm not a fan of Unbound's cell-shaded characters, either. Not really because they are cell-shaded; more because I just don't think they are designed very attractively, and the shaders used on them (particularly the hair and skin shaders) seem a bit sloppy and low-rent. Unbound's game difficulty also seems way off to me. In NFS Heat, playing at the easiest setting, I could make good, steady progress through the SP campaign. I'm not a NFS afficionado; I just want to play and enjoy the game. In Unbound I jcannot win a single race, even on the easiest difficulty setting, in a very low-class unmodified car. Every time I run a race I lose money; this is a miserable, miserable experience for me. The difference between Heat and Unbound in this regard couldn't, for me, be more stark. Unbound is a huge disappointment for me. Too many things about it irritate or frustrate. Fortunately, I bought it (Palace Edition, XBSX) at a huge (90%) discount in a recent sale, so I don't really feel buyer's remorse - I just wish the game had been better.
Do you play Relaxed, Challenging or Intense? I have the feeling, that Intense is easier than Relaxed to win the races. Also you forgot to mention, that the number of Retries for the WHOLE day is limited. That's just stupid, especially in a street racing game with randomized traffic.
I played all 3 just to see the difference, but mainly challenging to get the most "balanced" feel. Also really disliked the retiring system, should have definitely included that in the review. Felt really unnecessary for them to limit that to the extent that they did during the day as well...
I really like this game, I like visual effects, i dont like the story, but I like everything else i like the map aswell, I like it alot more than the map in heat, its less poppy but more fun to drive through, but the city still feels so good to look at aswell, the mountain areas are *chefs kiss*
Everything abt this game is amazing but those anime effects just piss me off i wish we can turn it off. Some people agree, whereas others disagree. I wish they could also make it possible to edit the controls on console like☠️
did u say travis scott? ..... bruh i almost died ... i need oxygen.... anyways agreed. music trach, effects meh, gameplay 5/10, they lied about too much
I'd say it's worth a try, depending on your personal liking you may enjoy the game a lot. I wouldn't count it out completely, but definitely buy the hard copy just incase lol
