Couldn't agree more, when you start using 15inch and up monitors, your images come to life! It's hard to explain but you see so much more and focus on the image. I just got my hands on the sumo! Its come on way more shoots than I thought It would have.
Its amazing how much client perception matters on set. Big monitors, video village with fresh fruit and the DOP having a big camera are all things that subconciously sell quality and trust to the client.
For 1200 $ this is a great directors monitor for sure. The main benefit is the V-mount. As long as I have DC power on set, I use my old graded BenQ 270 10bit (27 inch, 400$ on ebay). A portable power station like the poweroak 500wh costs about 500$ and it`s weight is about 6 kg.
I don't care if I need this monitor or not man, If I had the money I'm buying it because it looks cool! lol. Thanks Jason for showing us this kind of a monitor. I really didn't know this thing exist. haha
Awesome monitor maybe I can tape it on my G9 lol Obviously not for me but an amazing device for professionals or even in your RU-vid studio. I like it!
Great info!! love it. Can you do a video where you show what equipment you use to get the wireless video broadcasted, as well as the setup etc. I (or more like WE the subscribers) appreciate these videos 💯
Great video Jason.. that monitor is for real men.. I only recently picked up a ninja v... And it's been life changing.. don't know why I didn't have a monitor before.. its very useful
Hey man! I see you're using the CineEyes transmitter system. I've loved it until I started plugging it into a bigger director's monitor (17"+) and noticed that there is a lot of banding and artifacting. Is this something you've noticed as well? Perhaps it's just the nature of the compressed video feed. I've occasionally used a Teradek system (which is uncompressed) and have never had this issue. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Awesome thanks for the review on this bad boy! Does it cross convert the signal from hdmi to sdi? follow up question, are there "vesa mount" holes on the back of the unit?
Have you loaded your own LUTs into the monitor yet? If so, how did you do it? The manual doesn't tell you how to format your USB drive, nor does it say what kind of LUTs the monitor can read.
What if I shoot something in 4K 120 and my wireless video transmitter sends the signal in 1080 to this monitor. Will it still recognize the 120 fps and not display it since it’s capped out at 60?
No one doing these RU-vid reviews on OSEE monitors is touching on the fact that their website has been down since last year and brand is listed as discontinued on B&H 👀 not inspiring a lot of confidence in buying into the brand .
