Great interview, the interviewer was very prepared which makes all the difference. I love how open they are with their ups and downs in life. God bless them.
Yes, but, awkward moment when they're discussing 'No Excuses' and interviewer says, 'so nobodys cheating now, are we...?' Band is like, 'uh yeah, all good, now.' Interviewer is a little too loose for my liking. He's pretty good overall, but personally, a bit too loose, especially that weird moment.
Addition.... So eye opening to who they are and what their songs are about . Their Reckoning album got me through one of the hardest times of my life.... I can't even explain how.
It was great to hear the stories behind "Hard Love". Honestly I have not heard of your band, but my good friend just went to your concert tonight in Denver , CO or nearby there. My friend is my age and really likes your music. I am rather old fashion and love the old hymns. But, I am also a piano teacher for 32 years. My sons learned some piano but I really did not teach them too much. But the younger had some special gift from God and played through his senior year in high school. He loved the video game music in his teen years and watched you tubes to get the feeling of the songs and read the music and then memorized the music for the recitals. May God continue to bless your music ministry and your families that God would be glorified. My piano students are my harvest field and just yesterday by the Holy Spirit God used me to lead a second student this year to Jesus. She is Indian and I even had permission from her mom to share Jesus with her. God can use us wherever we are as this is my Jerusalem!!
Easily the most insightful interview I've heard with NTB. Thanks for giving the band a forum where they could just talk, be comfortable, and share with their fans.
well...now I just love them more. I just got the album a few days ago and I am singing along with the songs already! I love how open they all were about their faith and how it is interlaced in their music...there can't be anything better than a great band giving an awesome God all the glory.
My Mom loved Sandy Patty too and I didn’t care for her when I was little. I just found her old record at a thrift store since my Mom passed away and it surely didn’t stay there. I snatched that puppy up. Church kid here too! I guess that’s why I love Needtobreathe so much. We seem to be kindred spirits
Wow, this was seriously a God send. Their song 'More Time' has been a very touching and encouraging song for me ever since I heard it for the first time a month or so ago. I asked God "How much longer?" And not even a minute later this song came on. Knowing that Bo wrote it for his wife just makes it all the more meaningful to me in the current situation I'm in. I don't usually take the time to watch long interviews like this, but I'm glad I took the time to watch this one.
I wanna join their band, and play the guitar soooooo bad. They are just so inspiring and they all seem to genuinely love what they do. something most rare in a band these days.
just found this video. When talking about the golf tournament and how they would like to get an all sport tournament for bands it made me think of my hometown Shadyside Ohio, about 4000 people. Several former athletes started a fundraising LLC called Tiger4man. 4 guys register for a fee and then they play golf, basketball, volleyball, slip and slide, cornhole, etc.(it changes each year) proceeds all go to local sick children. It has grown to include many people from within the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference, the largest conference in the nation..
To me Hard Love is about my walk with Christ. It is a Hard Love. We make it that way when we let the world make us stumble in our walk with Him. It takes courage to say to the world that you believe what you can not see. It's hard to love Him when your world is falling apart around you because you are human and you find yourself trying to scramble to fix what is wrong in your life instead of just giving it ALL to God. I'm not even sure if I'm explaining it right for it to make sense to anyone but myself. Ever felt like that?
feeling like that right now. feel stagnant, hopeless, and purposeless. everything i’ve ever dreamed of hoped for, tried to achieve, all of the brokenness is really hard to bare. i’m even struggling with my relationship with god and feel as though i’m letting Him down. thanks for reminding me that He’s here sticking it out with me and hope is still out there 😊
Amen ! I was looking for a comment like this . This song explains my walk with Christ! It is very much a hard love… we have to stand firm in our faith and know that He knows exactly what He is doing. He’s making a stronger better version of ourselves by cracking our worldly shells off of us…
i love them, and i'm very glad for them, they all look very happy!! even though I think it's really sad that they're not an exclusively worship band... because they make beautiful worship music (wich is the best kind of music... I mean, you worship to the creator of music, there's nothing better than that!!). Anyways great interview Justin!! it was very personal and made me happy to know them a little bit more :) xx
Chula, Georgia...meet a Moultrie, Georgia gal my friend....God Bless you Justin Paul. I'm a year off for sure because I just heard this song for the first time just a few days ago and WOW I sure missed out not being able to hear it back last year. I lost my 4 year old grandson to a drunk driver in 2014 and it put me in a very deep dark place and I'm still trying my best to see more light at the end of life's tunnel (so to speak). I love Christian music and I have used it a lot since that fateful day to keep myself feeling "alive". This may be to forward to ask but would you please keep me in your prayers? I believe so much in the power of prayer and I truly need all of them I can get. Thank you in advance and thank you for this little interview with Bo, Bear, Josh and Seth. I love their music so much. God Bless
We're so sorry to hear about your pain, but so thankful you're finding encouragement through your faith and through the music. Yes, we're praying for you today! You might love the Prayer Wall on WAY-FM's site. It's where you can post your prayer requests and come alongside and pray for others. You can choose to be notified when someone prays for you, too! www.wayfm.com/prayer/
The fact that you change things up with each record is original and very commendable. I've been a fan since the first, so you're doing something right!
OMG SETH WITH THE "iiii sont think u should listen to that...it just feels a little anger..." IS SOOOO MY LIFEEE STORY when i was a teenager! I listened to DCT and could only listen to christian music from the christian stores too! 2)why Bear did u have to put yourself to shame like that? Your past aint no one elses business but Gods! 😭😭😭😭
I SURE LOVE ALL YOUR GOSPEL MUSIC SO DOES MY YOUNG STREET CHILDREN .THE DARK WORLD NEEDS THE LIGHT YOUR MUSIC FOR GOD BRINGS HOPE TO THE ONES WHO DONT HAVE HOPE .THE YOUTH NEEDS HOPE AND IN YOUR GOSPEL YOU BRING LIGHT TO A DYING WORLD .LOVE YOU YOUNGINS AND YOUR IN MY PRAYERS .KEEP SHINING FOR JESUS 💕💙💕💙💕💙
Great interview love Needtobreath... someday I will get to see them in concert💜 I live in Louisiana flooded out of my home Needtobreath music got me through it 💜 someday I will get to see them 💜
I had to laugh when the guys talk about growing up and not being able to listen to 'secular' music. My 3 daughters are the same age as these guys and they were not allowed to listen to secular music either. In high school, they would bring home the secular music (borrow a CD) and I would break it in half. The rules we had in our house, they thought were ridiculous (they could not stay overnight at a friends house), they were not allowed to go to party's in high school, and I made sure I knew where they were going and what parents would be there, they called me psycho mom because I was so strict. Now, they have their own children and guess what?? They are just like me.
Bear: whatever people listen to when they are 8 years old is the thing that lasts. Me: I heard quite a bit of y’all’s music on the radio and now I’m a huge fan of y’all so when I realized y’all sang those songs I was really surprised and happy 😂😂 like WHY DID I NOT KNOW THIS BEFORE
Needtobreathe keep on keeping on Bc it shows you're latest albums r the best and can feel the Sprit of God and I love the messages stay close to Him ur doing great. Aw man the long haired one is married heheh oh well
I pretty much grew up in possum kingdom, i had a friend who lived/lives there and I would go to his house pretty much every weekend to hunt, fish and ride 4wheelers, i probably have met them before, it's a tiny town where literally everyone knows everyone .. lol
Why are the guys distancing themselves from Seneca, SC? Bear and Bo lived very little of their lives in Possum Kingdom (7 years max for Bear and less for Bo) Majority of their life was in Seneca, SC. They both graduated from Seneca High School. They literally grew up in Seneca.
They don't seem to be distancing themselves from Seneca. "Possum Kingdom" is just such a memorable and fun name of a town, so that's how they kicked off the conversation about growing up!
Weird, in this interview Bear says that Randall was the one that recorded secular songs over Christian tapes and sold them at school. But on the their live album, he says that was he and Bo that did that.
The antagonism put between "secular music" and "christian music" is so striking to me and I am especially dumbfounded (appalled even) to hear (and read in the comments) that some Christian parents don't allow their kids to listen to "secular music"... I do find the interview interesting, though. And "Hard Love" is absolutely brilliant. I am so looking forward to the day the band comes and play in France (and I'm happy that, as an atheist, I allow myself to listen to all kinds of music...).
It is truly ignorant. As if God is not in anything but 'church' music or worship, gospel or whatever. Ridiculous. Some Christian music is simply not listenable, while many times, God will be present in what some calls 'secular' music! If God is in your heart, you'll hear and feel him when he is in something. Just my opinion.
Hi! I'm a Jesus-hugger who grew up listening to both. From my perspective, I love how creative God is to make these beautiful people who so reflect that creativity whether they make songs that are "sacred" or not. I believe that's a human-made category and the holiness of God is infectious, not the other way around. Fear can get human-people doing silly things some things, forgetting our own beauty and that in those around us.
A few Comments on this interview. What I didn’t like was how the interviewer kept prying on the fight, old news… and they love each other they said it already but he kept prying . Also how the interviewer ignored Josh through most of it. That was rude. I hope you were acknowledged after the first 34 mins . I had to turn it off. I feel like the band was kinda disrespected, especially the hillbilly thing being repeated …. Enough 😩 As a fan these are not the questions I want in an interview for a band I I love. thanks guys for remaining positive and shifting the negative back to positive. That’s why I love you! ❤️❤️❤️
Can we just talk about how adorable teen Seth was tho? Not sure if you guys have seen it but I’m pretty much in love. Too bad he’s all grown up now lol
How many drummers do they have? Why do they go thru so many different drummers? Ive seen 3 different ones? I don't think Josh is with them now currently is he?
Great video. Thx for sharing. I just came across an up & coming musician similar to this that's worth checking out... Mikey Wax... Search his song "Helium". Really catchy.
Most guiltily, I feel you TheOnslaught616. I've loved these guys since I was thirteen years old, always a huge fan, but this album has been just a bit disappointing to me too. Even putting aside that the sound is completely different than what I'd have expected from them, it just feels like the albums they released in the past were very weighty-- in that they had deep, rich lyricism and gorgeous metaphors. You took something away from the message they gave! And while I'm so ecstatically happy that they are all in a good, healthy point in their lives, and certainly I view the songs in a different light now, many of them ring a little more hollow to me. Perhaps because I'm not personally keen on love songs, and that seems to be the foundation of this album. Almost like a hodgepodge of them each responding to their wives about the past. But I'm still thrilled to go to their upcoming concert in my area and keep watching what they make next!
Whoa...someone else actually agrees with me...I LOVE NTB (I even like their independent stuff), but this album is definitely a step back from what they're capable of... it feels to radio-ish. I kinda like Hard Love, Happiness, and When I Sing, but that's really it. 'm still super pumped about their live show coming to my town soon!
Love their music, but seriously, God? Wake up, shed religion and bring piece to the world. Every religious human sounds brainwashed. Muslim or christian, all the same, blame human mistakes on something else..BAN RELIGION
