The saddest part about p-chan not being real is whenever you're given a dialogue choice in the game, that means Ame is actually thinking about and coming up with every single one of those choices herself; even the fucked up ones where you tell her to kill herself, those are just her thinking she should kill herself

I thought it was weird that "p-chan" would always watch Ame through her webcam until it clicked... it's her own computer. She's looking at herself on camera to check that she looks good. She's the one opening the social media windows and reading through them. She probably created a fake account for "p-chan" so she could text herself on her phone and reply back on her computer

The true horror is how she keeps baiting the corned beef topic and always gets interrupted. The real happy ending is the one where she finally gets to talk about corned beef.

My theory is that P-chan is a pun that represents her computer: P-Chan => P.C. The toxic relationship of her coping with her vulnerability through the internet by having her actions dictated by the internet.

"I talked to god" "No you didn't i didn't say anything." Now that's a moment.

The fact she complains about over 200k subs in 30 days makes this sillier because 200k in 30 days with today's algorithm is fucking amazing.

The internet overdose ending, was one of the most harrowing things I've ever seen They way she just spirals, and manly trying to keep up having to slog through mountains of vanity searches to try and get back to her and it just keeps going and going, for days. darker, yet darker It caught me off guard considering all the other endings were like... just like a text box, or a very short sequence

The reason why this game is well made, the writer actually wrote a book about menhera types in Japan, and is in general really deep into this subculture (if you can call it that).

More than anything else, Needy Girl Overdose is both a tremendously heartfelt love letter and a cynical admonishment of nearly three decades worth of internet culture. We can even see this in the win98 aesthetic and old cult classic games that clearly represents the 90s, all the Steam achievements/ending names are blatant references to 2000s Japanese memes and popculture, and finally it very much embraces the hyperstimulating insanity of 2010s internet where we all fall into our own rabbitholes of endless hedonistic online escapism. Whether it be lampooning parasocial relationships with people from across the pond or finding comfort by shitposting in random image/messageboards all day about how disillusioned you are by reality, it's the whole shebang and then some. It's a celebration of Japanese cyberspace as seen through the eyes of a mentally deranged girl who despite seemingly starts out as a simple menhera/landmine archetype increasingly shows a level of characterization that's indescribably relatable. Ame herself encompasses dozens if not hundreds of like-minded anonymous internet addicts that can't escape the cyberspace deathspiral most of contemporary society find themselves in. Don't forget, you're here forever. Both the "secret" Happy End World and the True End are fantastic capstones for the game. The latter being a culmination of Ame's own character arc and the former for quite literally forcing the player to disconnect themselves from the internet. Meanwhile the twist itself is not only foreshadowed well but also recontextualizes the entire game to really hit you with that thinking cap. This is a fucking glorious game. And the localization is absolutely top-notch as well, you could tell both the writer and the localizer fully drowned themselves in the variety of internet subcultures the game had. You don't see this kind of shit often but god damn did the devs hit a homerun. I'm going to Ame. BLESS ps. Thanks for the fantastic playthrough. I was waiting for this.

I didn't expect a part 2 of this honestly considering the many endings it had. But this game is extremely sad.. once you look into the game in a deeper manner. Especially when it said "Love and online numbers are her coping mechanisms" The reason you shouldnt overdose with love is because she starts relying on p-chan, which is assume is a voice in her head, not an actual human being. Which just makes an unhealthy relationship with herself. Not to mention whenever she gets high the whole screen also goes crazy. She also ends herself after she has a break up with p-chan. P-chan, despite basically the reason why she lives, is not good nor evil. P-chan gives hope and courage, but could also be the voice to tell her to end herself. And the reason she gets bored of living with p-chan.. is in reality she just lives alone in a big house. You'd think she's happy about it, but then again, approval and attention are her biggest coping mechanisms. And since its such a big house, she's being reminded that she's alone. I think the only ending which is good is when she says that she doesnt need p-chan anymore. That she can decide for herself and doesnt need a voice to dictate her anymore. that she can uplift herself without anyone needing to be there. ((she also said something about making a new, better p-chan. Which i assume is her saying to herself, "I'll set a better mindset for myself" )) Edit: Do people not know women mast*rbait aswell ? The bad end at 28:41.... the name is actually a pretty deep cut. Rainbow Girl is a song by あにー (iirc, might have been a cover though) which is from the perspective of a female visual novel character who is in love with the player, and shows her heartbreak over the fact that she can never cross the boundary of the screen to be with him. It was a popular song on NicoNico when I was growing up with the internet, so at least a decade and a half ago. Edit: oh Manly got it in the comments! I’m glad that people still remember that song!

I have a ton of respect for people who can make games like these, where the game slowly turns more and more horrific as it progresses. It's a different type of fear than other games and it requires a lot of ingenuity to execute properly. Edit: wow tysm you guys made my day coming back after 8 months ❤

To me, the most interesting detail about P-chan is the restart section. The processor is called "raincandy", so It's basically Ame. When she had a breakdown and "restarts", P-chans computer restarts. It a small detail but the heaviest implication.

If anyone was wondering, the video title at around 1:42:00 says "Welcome to the Internet Angel's Stream!" (the letters are shifted) and the ending pop up dialogue says "Now, she is truly happy"

The little "Henshin!" during KAngel's opening gives me life. It's the little things that make Manly's streams great.

I'm curious as to where the blood came from with the 'Internet Overdose' ending. Then, I realized that she did tweeted about a cat and I'm wondering if instead of 'shoo-ing' it away as she mentioned, she'd 'accidentally' killed it much like her former pet guppy? Unless, it is just curry.. Very red curry.

It makes sense that p-chan is the computer, since ame is very dependent on p-chan, and she’s called the Internet obsessed girl. She’s obsessed with P-chan, which is the source for her internet. I’m guessing that the ending where she breaks her monitor is an ending you can only get after going through the other ones, cause that’s when she breaks free from the Internet, and tries to become her own person, separating from her addiction.(the secret ending)

It felt more painful seeing how the people reacted to what Ame is going through, rather than Ame's breakdowns itself. It's pretty scary, and sickening. The people behind this game really put a lot of thought into the interactions.

Even though Manly plays so many horror games where terrible things happen to the characters, it's clear to see he's a super compassionate person with all of his choices/responses. Somehow the offering ice cream choice stuck out the most to me, because it's something to do to distract someone from their thoughts, as opposed to the other option of asking how Kangel's doing, which could just get someone even further stuck in their problems. He also like, apologizes to her whenever he leads her down bad ends for views(and is pretty consistent about that in other games). Manly's just such a wholesome lad overall, and I'm so glad more people are getting into his content.

Ame's character is that one people in our life who we can't bear but somehow we felt sympathize. Her character is so stoic, narcissistic, egoistic, oppurtunist, and yet deppressing and relatable in some point. We've been in a time where we fear to work other people, where we deplete our energy into hatred and internet, where we crave love from others cause of the lack of it, and where we get so burnout and we lost interest into everything. Her behaviour is hatable, but we can't find in ourselves to hate her.

I love the running joke of KAngel bringing up corned beef on stream but never finishing whatever she has to say about it. By 1:26:12, Manly is getting deja vu from it lol

Random Thoughts From Playing The Game Some More Major Ending Spoilers Below Don't Click Till You're Done Watching - . . . . Aside from the obvious signs that P-Chan doesn't exist, most of the media and references KAngel makes are to other works with your life is a fabrication stories like Fight Club and a visual novel that she plays that the secret ending is named after. All of them have the motif of someone imagines another person or more. The other interesting ending is Rainbow Girl which is a reference to the Rainbow Girl vocaloid song where a boy and a dating sim anime girl carry respective lyrics about one wanting to be with the other and the anime girl lamenting being a 2D Girl. In The Rainbow Girl ending she talks to you and touches the computer screen like the Rainbow Girl MVs and the other works she tends to reference or comment on have to do with being controlled or living in a simulation or game. The store page under P-Chan mentions "Maybe it's you?" so aside from P-Chan being something internal that doesn't exist P-Chan could exist but be you the player aka Player Chan not Producer or Perfect Chan. That would also explain why Ami can find new ideal P-Chans.

I like how the best ending is her just living her life on her own, despite ups and downs, just taking everything as it is without depending on anyone else. It’s nice and a sudden subversion from relying on the player of the game to get the “best” end.

Internet Overdose is the most 'stop it she's already dead!' thing I've seen in a while

Rainbow Girl and Electric Angel are both very old and kinda well known Vocaloid songs with Miku vocals, and KAngel's design is likely a little nod to that as well. the song that plays during her good 1 mil stream (~1:01:30) also kinda has a motif similar to Electric Angel's chorus, so I think it's safe to say the creator of this game is a huge vocaloid fan, huh?

I love the double meaning of the ending where she stabs the monitor, it can either mean that she's stabbing the relationship she has with her dependency on the Internet, or it could mean a fourth wall break.

That final "true" ending, where she talks about making a new P-chan and leaves with a picture of her and K-Angel at the end? I don't think she's making herself a new P-Chan, I think she actively wants to be someone's P-chan. K-Angel isn't who she wants to be, it's who she wants to be with. She constantly talks about being a housewife or leaning on P-can. K-Angel and Ame have seemingly opposite personalities. She's dreaming of being that supporting anchor to someone living their dream, but since she can't find anyone like that, she did it herself. No wonder she's an emotional wreak... At least in the "true" ending, though, she seems to have realized it was a game, and maybe she's going to make K-Angel real? Her moments of "talking to God" and the angel theming make so much more sense under this context because she IS god, in a sense, and god created angels. She already created K-angel on stream, she why not off stream as well? Weirdly optimistic for a 4th wall break ending, but I'm here for it.

I think it's actually genius that she breaks down although she has a good, realistic ammount of followers after a month. Like, she's really obsessive and not right in the head. Pretty much everyone would be happy with 200k subs after a month of starting their career, but not Ame. I can relate to this because I have something similar as a disorder, if I don't reach my goals but still did good I'm not happy. Although I don't get suicidal, but you get the point.

P-chan is a coping mechanism and it is a computer IMO ! Because when she stabbed the screen we died

Considering the perspective of the game is seen through her computer I imagine that P-Chan isn't a real person but just her PC (Which would explain the nickname). She uses her phone to text her computer and then responds to her own messages. Also is the reason why she stabbed her computer when saying she was going to kill P-Chan. I saw a theory in here that P-Chan is also her mindset which I like the idea of a lot. Overall the game seems to be ambiguous, whether P-Chan is real or just something she made up is up to the player.

I thought the way endings slowly filled out that bar at the top of the screen was really cool. It looked like a loading bar and totally fed into the idea that all the endings were "true" endings in a sense. Anyways, after finishing both videos I wanna say it was great to see a LP that didn't immediately go for the shock factor route of "cute anime girl does scary things," Manly's always a great creator to watch for that reason.

For Utopian Parody you have to select the correct option when Ame talks about her story on like day 15 night. It's one of the five listed topics below. On your run you seem to have gotten the "neglected as a kid" story, so that would be the correct option. You'd get a slightly longer version of the ending had you chosen correctly. Also, the same thing is used for Needy Girl Overdose. Answer all of the questions correctly and you get an alternate ending where you don't die. It still ends the game though.

This is especially relevant for female content creators. People can be monsters with their biggest excuse being that the people they targeted daring to have a life in front of others. They're cowards, bullies, and worse. It would be nice if someone out there played (or watched someone else play) this game, thought about what they were seeing from the other side and maybe decided to not write that next nasty comment for no reason other than to tear someone else down "just for laughs". Hopefully the game doesn't just make more people like that decide to be monsters because there is that side of the coin too...

(WARNING: *SPOILERS!* and *PERSONAL INTERPRETATIONS* !) So, turns out that the message of the game was the same as Dead Money in New Vegas (which a heckin weird crossover when one thinks about it): It was about letting go. Or in the case of Ame, it was about letting go of both P-Chan's "guidance" over her and choosing her own destiny and her need of acceptance by the public and that she should follow what would truly make her happy instead of following what would make her popular by her peers. This is best show by the fact that in the endings where she is "free" from one of those but refuses to let go from the other are still bad for her: In "Internet Overdose" she starts making her own decisions after deciding she doesn't need P-Chan anymore but goes absolutely bonkers with her ending by destroying her Ame personality and "becoming" KAngel because she refuses to let go of her obsession with being beloved and adored. On the other hand, in the "Labour is Evil" ending she seemingly lets go of her obsession, but still shows an attachment to her "current" P-Chan, leaving it ambiguous if she is truly free and happy or just using them as a "confort blanket" for her issues - which might break at any moment given how she snaps at them both in other endings and in gameplay. Only in the the ending unlocked by completing all of the other ones is she finally able to be able to be who really is while not being dependent to her "P-Chan" - which, as show by the text.txt file, is heavily implied to be her imagination creating someone to comfort her and help coping with her own desire for aproval, since even in the seemingly happy "Happy End World" she still appears one last time in the Twitter feed - implying that even though she became a "real angel" she was still left disappointed by the real world - needing to become a "fake angel" - her persona, once again to fulfill the craving of love and attention she is unable to fill in "reality". After experiencing all these possibilities when giving control of her life to P-Chan - most bad, some coated with just enough sugar to make them seem good, we reach the "completionist", and we are showcased to Ame taking reins in control of the game herself - and when she finally realizes this pursuit is nothing but a blind obsession as she makes these choices herself, she accepts she doesn't need P-Chan or her KAngel persona anymore and leaves - or rather, P-Chan "leaves" Ame's live alongside KAngel - with P-Chan being her need of an "introverted" attention and obsession which manifested in her giving them complete "control" over what she did, even if this attention and guidance came from a literal imaginary friend, and KAngel being her her need of an "extroverted" attention and obsession which manifested in her self-mutilation, both literal and metaphorical, of who she was in order to bring the public's love to her. Only when she lets go of these obsessive cravings does she become able to choose her own future and do the thing she needed to do from the start - touch grass. You are not at fault for desiring to be happy and loved, but when this pursuit becomes an obsession and you destroy who you are, without being able to live happily with anything less than a spotlight on yourself and the audience clapping at your performance as you slowly throw away who you are to keep the attention to you, you can have entire religions and countries at your foot, and it won't matter because nothing you gained from this journey will fill what you lost: Yourself. TL,DR: Being codependent is bad kids. On a side note, i noticed the David Bowie reference on the "Ground Control to Psychoelectric Angel" ending. And another reference to Frank Sinatra in the "Fallen Angel" ending description: It says "Fly away now, fly away now, fly away..." which is an obvious word swap to the lyrics of Come Fly with me: "Come fly with me, let's fly let's fly away".

This game is heartbreaking...the kinds of terrible directions life as a streamer can go through are all too real here. P-chan is the most surreal entity ever and KAngel i feel is going through so much suffering and stuff, especially in that rainbow vomit route, she kept on returning to streams everyday despite the haters and abuse which was too sad to watch. I felt very sad watching this game and seeing how isolation, unsupported mental health and internet can be a deadly cocktail sometimes I got dangan vibes from this at one point

this game has a huge impact on me since im literally like ame but im not a streamer since i dont have enough money for a setup, what she goes through and what she thinks about the futures (the endings) are somewhat something i thought before, like drug addiction and such this game is so sad and horrific at the same time, its so realistic for me

i think one of the things that explain ame the best is when she actually gets help, she moves on from the idea of streaming to focus on her real life, and realistic goals. i kinda have to agree with manly's theory that all of these endings are "real" in the sense that she is going through every scenario in her head. she honestly seems like the type to do that. i gotta agree also that p-chan isn't really a real person. p-chan is an ideal, and the reason some things are odd with p-chan not being real, is these are all ideas and simulations in ame's head. i think you can also argue that ame somehow created some kind of actual computer simulation for her to work through, but i doubt it. in data 0, ame finally realizes that p-chan and everything associated with them was never needed. you see how she lives her life when she takes control back, there's ups and downs, she suffers and struggles but god damn it she makes it work. she is living. she's finally learning to accept the parts of herself she didn't. i think her toxic relationship with p-chan is in a way, a toxic relationship with herself. i think it's also demonstrating how unhealthy her mindset was. she was obsessed with this idea of someone who could do everything for her, make life easier, the perfect partner, the perfect producer. but again, data 0 allows her to let go of that. she is getting better. i hope ame got the help she needed, too.

The whole plot went over my head in my playthrough lmao, it was a 9 hour 1-session caffeinated playthrough, plus I'm also denser than rocks. Reading the comments, watching this video, and taking a look at the game again helped my understanding lol. Great video as always.

God damn this game turned out to be much darker than I expected. The "internet overdose" ending genuinely made me feel uncomfortable.

ok so after watching this let's play when it first came out I'm finally playing the game myself and when I got to the Internet Overdose ending I ran into a glitch where I just got stuck on the final stream with Kangel's bloody face staring at me. I had to go back to this video to see if that's actually what's supposed to happen or not but I spent like 15 minutes making awkward eye contact with bloody kangel before I figured it out. It was horrifying ngl.

I think in the end this is a retelling of Fight Club in the context of the internet, where the Fight Club IS the internet/twatter. In the end she just arrives at the same conclusion as the main character in that movie. It's putting it a bit simply but I feel like that one stream she does about Fight Club is more than just the typical artistic nod to something that inspired the author, it's a flat out hint that this is a homage. And the developers are likely huge fans of that movie.

Yooo I realized this upon the drawing, but Ame, P-chan, and Khangel are all different, but they're really just the same, huh? Identities to get where she needs to be. Different roles to suit a purpose.

Props to the creator(s) of this game, it takes talent to get people hooked for 2-4 hours of content that isn’t split up into 100 ten minute vids.

That whole sponsorship ending could've been easily avoidable is she just glanced at the deals and scripts for a second before hitting record. I understand it's not in her character to ask questions but come on she could've done _that_ at the very least

I can see alot of influences in this game. Lain, Oyasumi Punpun, Welcome to the NHK, and many many scifi VNs. All right up my alley, and frankly, the creators did a fantastic work with this game

rewatching this, i kind of like the idea that maybe p-chan was a maybe chat-bot/ai Ame made, one that can control her PC. someone she could talk to for advice without having to connect with real adults since, as we've seen, she thinks all adults are disgusting i've seen theories about p-chan being Ame chatting with herself by texting on her phone then replying on her computer, but i think a chat-bot/ai p-chan makes more sense. it's why you have a limited amount of responses, and why most of the time you can only reply with stickers. it's not a very detailed chat-bot, but it's still someone for Ame to talk to. and it still follows Ame's notes about how she'll just 'make a better p-chan next time' it's her saying that she'll make a better chat-bot. one who'll understand her more, but not one who'll control the things she does. she wants to live for herself, she doesn't want someone that doesn't exist to dictate her actions.

This is the type of game that makes me wanna think about it all day long and understand how much it has, and how big it is. The fact that this feels so realistic, even tho its not real makes me wanna question life and if we really are inside a video game ( referenced :) I can say for sure that all im going to do now is sit on my bed while thinking about this game. No reason to go next, stay here. This game is so deep its amazing. And the way Kangle always acted and the comments being so real, with us not being real and yet still her without being her - and the fact that is still laughed and cried in the same demm hour just bc of a game. Shoot. To the point - this game is truly amazing and i was not expecting it to be this deep and to make me think about life that much. *Bouns point; the music is AMAZING 🔥🔥🔥 and the artstyle fits perfect. Overall this is definitely a gem 💎 with a score of 10/10 for me.. In so happy i found out ab this game.

I think what P-Chan is varies in each playthrough, aka P-chan is defined by how the story goes rather than how some think P-chan is always all in Kangel's head. Sometimes You're real, sometimes you ARE one of the funny voices in her head, sometimes a God like being (in the perspective of Kangel). It depends.

_Felt bad for streamers_ RU-vidrs and streamers really a strong fan base who enjoys their content to give them needed support. The internet otherwise is full of trolls and people who are just hoping to see other people fail. I think the other real challenge is separating your online persona from your real person and maintaining privacy. Ame became kind of "me, myself, and I" with P-chan being a third persona she used for internal support, an imaginary friend she could love. The game was deeper than I thought it would be. While these sims are not my cup of tea, it was very well done and well written. A true love letter to and indictment of the internet and idol culture.

The "morpho butterfly" reference REALLY got me! It's a symbol of a specific ED sub-community, & I can't help be feel it references a specific problematic streamer. I wasn't expecting them to go there.

I'm scared to know how the creator even comes up with all these super realistic ending and things. The true horror is much realistic this is,it's not some cliché suddenly going insane kind of thing but rather a slow genuine downwards spiral

P-chan being not a real person is a bit surprise but isn’t unpredictable. That maybe also why affection reach limit doesn’t seem like a good thing

This game is so sad,but when you finally get to see KAngel/Ame happy,it feels nice,peaceful,just great to see her even slightly better.

To me in the internet overdose ending it seems like she killed the person who came to her house. The thing she posts about the cat represents it. She knows the trollers will get more views and attention than her, and they’re outside (though her window), so she kills it and presumably makes them into a curry. That’s why her room is only bloody after she starts streaming, because she made whoever it was into a curry and made a mess. Then she falls into being paranoid that people are watching her. I don’t think her final stream is real. It’s representative of the death of Ame, her old self. She’s no longer Ame, she’s KAngel, and she knows she’s falling into a bad place, that’s why she says calling someone God should be worse. I imagine she probably kills herself via overdose to match the name of the ending. Just my thoughts tho Edit: the final stream could be her illusion while going through her overdose

A range of endings, from bittersweet to downright disturbing. This was fantastic, from when it's been funny in a snarky way to making me feel awful. I'm so glad this game is doing well, it deserves the success. There's a shocking amount of polish and little details throughout this, I'm seriously impressed by it. Kudos to Manly for the boatload of editing this all took, I appreciate it. As well, kudos to the developer for doing such a good job.

The gibberish text at 1:40:44 and 1:42:53 is actually a somewhat basic substitution cypher, and when using the alphabet NOPBRSTUDWVYJAFCQEKGHIXZLM they read "Welcome to the Internet Angel's Stream!" and "Now, she is truly happy."

1:10:33 "I think Stress has nothing to do with endings" (*extremely pained laughter*) 1:20:40 - you know, even knowing she's pretty terrible herself, I do feel like there's a point here. The way people say she loses if she engages... so she's just supposed to exist as a punching bag for people who say terrible stuff? She's right about the mask of anonymity and people feeling comfortable being absolutely horrible because they know there's no external consequences for their actions...

Honestly, the ending where she got a house and all her subs and you follow her alt account made me realize how toxic this character was. Nothing will ever be enough, and that's depressing because they don't seem one dimensional or anything, and that's an actual problem people have--achieving everything but feeling nothing. Even so, it still really grinded my emotional attachment with this game. Sure, not all games need to have a happy ending, but throwing salt in anotherwise pretty nice ending like that just felt like... I dunno if forced is the right term because it is realistic but saying it felt "Too Real" also feels wrong because it's not. I guess I'll just have to settle for the unplugged ending.

Wow. You sound really enthusiastic when you were ready to talk about the story at the end of the video. In fact I don't think I've heard you sound this enthusiastic before Manly. In one way other another, you must have really enjoyed this game.

I think the creator of the game said she has borderline personality disorder, which explains a lot of things.

Now I see why that warning is at the beginning, this does hit a few sensitive points specially those we relate to.. that secret txt file really got me lol, I normally turn my brain off so I didn't get the connection between p-chan and the pc immediately til then. So from what I understand kangel and ame (and probably pchan?) Kinda don't see eye to eye at first p chan being her support and kangel being like a happy go lucky gal, while ame is pretty depressed and the happy end world ending is ame finding balance between the 3 (or becoming one the same truly.) Interesting game to say the least, although I didn't understand all the references because I'm not a internet person (I don't look up alot stuff so normies and mageys I don't know what that means.). Really enjoyed watching this. (Even if I didn't fully understand everything.)
