I would like to suggest you to disable at least the auto white balance from you recording camera. In this way you can really show what are the differences in light colour. It can improve you quality video too since you can make some really cool effects setting the two lights to different temps. Said that thanks for the review.

To mount the led light vertically you should remove the plastic cap on the light stand, the black cap on the tip of the stand. It should become more stable that way.

There are so many types of lights for shooting! I also have two. Recently, I use only godox instead of neewer ... The video was very interesting! I will come to play again. With love from Japan :)

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but your old lights are fluorescent light bulbs not halogens. They are also adjustable since their position can be changed, (which will change the intensity of the light hitting the surface). I also own these lights (fluorescent) and you are meant to include umbrella diffusers, which you haven't bothered with. If you did, you wouldn't require new lights since you wouldn't suffer from glare. I think Mr Geek Street already knows this but would rather convolute his video. Basically if you want more colour temp options beyond 5500k, barndoors to control direction of light and a controller; possibly go with Neewer Bi-color 660 LED Video Light & Stand Kit but also shop around. 👍

I’ve used light panels from neewer for over a year now and never once realize that’s why they have that hole in the middle of the clamp. You just saved me having to buy an adapter so I can tilt them down while using a soft box.

Great info.A questions - can the piece that protrudes form the bottom of the light and which fits over the tripod for mounting be removed to reveal threads on the bottom of the light fixture, so that the light can be screwed onto a different tripod?

Oh dear, the same problem applies to demonstrating light levels, turn off your auto iris on your video camera and set it to appear normal at say 50% brightness, then also announce this is what you have done and then you can show to some degree brightness lowering and increasing, obviously you can only show effect and not the actual brightness you experience, for that you would need a light meter at a preset distance from the light source and show the meter reading versus settings so people will know how effective they are or are not.

I just bought two of the older model, arriving today. I also bought two 480 RGBs, arriving tomorrow. I got these 660 bi-color JUST to light up a green screen, set up a very decent distance behind me, like 6 feet, or 2 meters if you’re not a Yank. Since you can’t dial in temperature on these old models, if I have both yellow and white at 100% for maximum brightness, what temperature am I at? Split the difference, and I’m at 4400? Also, on the newer model shown here, I assume the reason those dials don’t have hard stops is because they CAN’T. They have to be continuous/infinity potentiometers since you ALSO have the temperature control, which is going to override the individual yellow and white dial settings.

Those original lights of yours are compact fluorescent lights and not halogen, that is a far superior and very different light type. In my opinion fluorescent light of any kind should not be used for photography purposes, or for reading or fine detail work

If you wish to show light colouration differences you need to turn off the auto white balance on your camera and set it to something people will know like 5500k or 6000k and mention this setting you have chose before demonstrating the colour changes, you also need to turn off other light sources like the rear desk lights and the original lamps and block out any daylight if there is any entering the area, then as you change light colour it will show in the video, this is basic stuff. You really should know this or have researched it before attempting to demonstrate it
