I don’t think this choice is better than JDM but I think that Ben Afleck would have fit this role. His body type is more similar to Negans in the comic.
Keep in mind that this is a TV show, of course the events are exaggeration. But the character of “Negan” is actually showing the audience that the villain is the hero of the other side. Just because we knew Rick’s crew and saw most of the show from their perspective, doesn’t mean that there are other people who’ ve been through the exact same problems. Negan mentions this when he talked about the “Satellite Station” with Maggie. His character, on a deeper level, stands for that there is good and bad in everyone. This is my own analyse of course, thank you for letting me steal a good 25 seconds of your life.

Carl was right to tell Rick to just spare Negan. Rick knew that during season 9 Negan would someday be redeemed and yea he did. Negan threw away Lucille, he helped save and care for Judith, he helped Daryl and Carol. He worked together with Gabriel and Maggie. Can't wait for him to fight side by side with Rick, Ezekiel and all the others during the final battle.
Lemme put it like this just once before negan killed any of ricks group they killed over THIRTY SAVIORS in which negan only took two it was a fair deal some of the ppl ricks group killed before they met negan were just like Glenn had ppl they loved but were killed
