So grateful for the pts who’ve offered negative feedback or reacted negatively to one of my “masterful” interventions. For those who stuck w me, our connection became richer as I grew wiser. Those interactions result in indelible learning opportunities that forever impact my work.
This speaks to your openness. By receiving and responding to negative feedback we have a chance to facilitate a repair, which, as you point out, makes the relationship ever stronger than before.
Thanks Patricia. Great video. I try very hard to get feedback from my patients. In fact I ask them to tell me if what I'm doing is helpful or unhelpful. I even encourage them to not be afraid to be critical of me. I want honest feedback even if it's negative. My issue is is very suspicious and don't believe them when they give me positive feedback. I am more prone to believing the negative feedback which I do try to work on.
That's interesting too. Our brains have a negative bias. We tend to look for what is wrong and what is missing. Course correct by making sure you acknowledge and celebrate your successes too. Pay attention to what is working, as well as your learning edge.
