@@ArtbyPaulClark It appears to be one that may have been mixed to create, you know, another color! I have an old friend who's decorator did that on her new house-which they had to do a few times because of the different lighting in the new build. But it's lovely. Brand name maybe? Oh well, it's quit nice. Thank you. Have I bothered you enough for one day? Just got into a rhythm. Thanks for all. Terri
Your voice is very amusing to hear, that is one of the main reasons that I love your videos the most.On Every Wednesday watercolor I get to learn many things.
Thanks again for another Wednesday to look forward to! Cows, a duck or a ostrich were things I never ever thought I would paint. Thanks to your fantastic tutorials they have turned into some of my favourite paintings! Ferns and mushrooms, here I come!!
Thank you Paul. I love your paintings. Very grateful for your generosity in sharing everything with us. One of the few 'real' artists who do. Thank you, again. ♥
I'm enjoying your wonderful videos! So informative, and I am enjoying your way of presenting each subject. You exude kindness and empathy which is so appealing. I live in a small state in the USA, but feel I would be more at home in the UK.
dear Paul, thank you for this great tutorial and for the tipp to using the masking fluid. Great color mixes. And yes, you make it look so easy. I want to give it a go. I do my best. Thanks again.
"A small piece of toast" you said??? 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄 How nice!!! I'm going to try those beautiful leaves. Yellow is my favorite color cause yellow is like the sun....it's the light on earth...light...sunshine!!!!☀️❤❤❤🌤❤❤❤ I'll try the mushrooms, too!!! I'll add a little bit of salt before cooking. Love the mixing of colors you made for the soil where the mushrooms grow. Love it!!!! Thank you.
Paul - thanks for this simple tutorial explaining this very useful technique. As usual you have shown us how to create such lovely effects with simple and practical approaches! I am looking forward to trying to incorporate these in my paintings.
This tutorial was wonderful as usual, Paul, seems I never have much time for them nor painting anymore, but so glad I could watch these today, thank you 💜😊🎨
Paul, as always, a wonderful video and very timely for me! I’ve been painting with watercolor for about a year now and while l’ve been aware of negative painting I have never really knowingly applied it. Now I have two perfect ways to practice! Also, I have to confess I had tears welling up during the part when you were painting the fern background and the “always home” song was playing...beautiful! The joke about the eraser looking like a piece of toast lightened the mood tho😂
I also used old brush but I found that my brush could be used once only... too difficult to wash it. yup... Now I knew the tips of it. Washing up liquid! I will try it. Thanks for sharing that secret.
I love these loose paintings. I somehow can't do it, it always end's up as super detailed and photorealistic. With all the other mediums I work in, that's the goal - but with watercolor I would love to paint more flowing.
I love autumn paintings, will definitely try the mushrooms! 😁 Thank you. Your masking fluid seems so much more liquid than mine, and we have not become good friends as yet, but I shall try again with these plants ... 🤔 Will we get a/some lovely Halloween paintings this year again? Greetings from Berlin Germany 🤩🤗
Loved watching these techniques and I’m looking forward to trying all of them. I especially liked when you negatively painted down into the ground below the mushrooms to make grass. That was brilliant. I look forward to trying both of these paintings. Thank you so much for everything you do.
This was so informative.....loved it! Thank you Paul, you make the painting experience a fun one - and the background music is always superb....Margot's doing? The fern is absolutely gorjus.............
Test both mask and rubber pickup on the paper you plan to use first... mask can be problematic but I've also had rubber pick up paint off certain papers as well... specifically Bockingford 140# rough.
Lovely music and amazing video. I find it so difficult to keep the paper wet while working wet in wet (maybe I am too slow). When you spray clean water on the paper, the paint barely moves while with me colours pool☹️. Maybe a tutorial on how to rewet the sheet. Can we use watercolour pencils instead of pastel pencils?
Very beautiful, I was looking your seminaire in Paris and Normandy. You will be in my town Conflans ste honorine . It's really a beautiful town excellent choice. Any help let me know. A fan of your work
Paul, I really love your paintings! Your tutorials are always very clear. I'm in love with your mushroom painting! Some time back you made a fun spooky Halloween painting. It was really impressive. Do you plan on doing another Halloween painting this year?
Loved the colors on both paintings. Thank you for the introduction of the new techniques and, the tip on the soapy water for the masking fluid. My first watercolor painting was also magical mushrooms 🍄 many years ago. I don’t think you will ever be a negative painter or negative anything !😀
Again, this tutorial was very helpful. May I ask if I understood correctly that when using the masking liquid, you should always dip the brush in the detergent water first?
Is “washing up liquid” the same thing as regular dish soap? Or hand soap? Also what was that last white pastel pencil on the mushroom painting? I couldn’t see it very well.
"...it doesn't mean painting when you're in a bad mood..." You sure you don't want to go on the road with me as a comedy act? I'll even be the straight guy, so to speak. And, Margot can come, too!
True story, I never go anywhere without my trusty #3 rigger! Okay, that's a lie but it sounds very comforting though. But sometimes I wake up from a nightmare where I was lost and my trusty #3 rigger was NOWHERE to be found. People around me in the dream kept saying, cmon man, just use a #4 round brush and I kept screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOO! It was horrible! Well, that was all a lie, too but Mr. Clark.... I have watched your videos for a couple of years now. Two I think... and I have never commented but I want to say that I've enjoyed your vids and paintings and lessons and humor. Thx for uploading these for people to learn from. The advise you give in the voice overs during the paintings is invaluable. It is good to hear wise advise more than once so I'm glad you repeat yourself on many of the key points because for me it helps to remember them. Tips like not overworking your painting and not making your edges precise like a ruler etc. great vids and pantings!
Wonderful video, as usual, Paul! Both the ferns and the mushrooms are a must-try. I really loved the colours in both. Good grief, what an inspiration you are, and every week to boot!! No happy accidents, just happy Wednesdays ❤️
Great lessons. I was really drawn to the fern. I send out cards to a few family members every month or so and the fern will make an awesome card. I might even try the same technique with Maple leaves since they are so common here in Nebraska, US. Thank you so much for the video and inspiring me to try new things.
Me too, I make cards for all occasions and this negative fern painting would be wonderful to create. I have been painting for over 10 years, but Paul still gives me new and inspiring ideas, he is a great teacher.
Hi from Alberta, Canada, Paul! I'm a prairie girl and love the grasslands and woods in the fall, and just loved this fun video. Thankyou for sharing your talent and knowledge with us. I always look forward to your videos & have learned so much about handling watercolors. It can be one of the most frustrating mediums to use but your videos are so much fun they taught me to loosen up and just let the paint do its thing. Thanks so much.
Wednesday is a Bonus day for watercolor painters, thanks to you, Paul. The two demonstrations were excellent; seeing all the possibilities that your demonstrations provided! Another great feature of your tutorials is you explain why you are adding that feature. Thanks again for your inspiring tutorials.🎨
Woah. I haven't seen negative painting like this; usually, the demo is drawing leaves and painting a wash around the first layer, rinse and repeat until your paper is destroyed. The bang for the buck is quite "negative". But these were nice (especially the mushrooms!) Also, you should have a director's view showing your face and biceps while you paint. You know, so we can see you as you work. For inspiration and whatnot.
Love all your tutorials, it's just what I need after painting and getting lost in details! Your videos remind me to loosen up! I love fall and taking a daytrip to Vermont today to get some more inspiration!! Thank you!
Verry nice i love the simplicité of It i will try that to and i Will try not to spell masking fluid on My clothes i did à big mess yesterday🤪 and always like the white space you live in your painting i have to work on that the white on the mushroom is fabulous thank you verry much and by the way thank you for your comments on the photos i sent i will give à go Always à pleasure waiking up on wednesday and saturday To see what you paint have a Nice week To you and Margot🥰❤🥰
Oh Paul!! I’m your new biggest fan from Canada! I was a beginner in 2005 and dropped my brush. Now I’ve picked it up again and going to consume ALL this lovely content 🎉😊
Hi Paul and Margot, Thanks, great tutorial, love the magic mushrooms 🍄 🍄🍄 Would love to join you on the cruise but too many hoops and restrictions one has to go through traveling these days...”very negative”. Would like to think it will ease off, but sadly just cannot see that ever happening now. (I hope you manage to go ahead with it!) ‼️
Thank you for all your video's. I love them all! I never really used this before as I always start with my lightest colours. Guess I better get practising negative painting (while staying positive).
