Just watched through several of your videos in succession. Beautiful tutorials. Opened my mind not only to logo but design in general. Was always taught that white/negative space is extremely important.

This is awesome. I actually once created a logo with negative space without even thinking about it, and it turned out well. But haven't attempted to make another.. lol. But the part about researching really does help.
Thanks so much Tom, I'm trying to like and share your material as much as possible - you really have been instrumental in my learning of illustrator. Great video and many clever logos. I have never used compound path before, and found the hard way about getting too deep in a design that had destructive effects (multiple pathfinder layers) going back to what I had liked before was near impossible. Thank you for the tips!!! I will now continue creating the new logo, for a friend, I created last Friday. When I saw an image, of a meme, that has negative space I immediately opened Illustrator and applied the idea that I have. I hope my friend will like it when the logo is done.. haha
@@SatoriGraphics Actually I was doing two designs but I was so focused on completing the first that I forgot to continue with the second one. I'm also so excited to give the logo right away.. haha The sad part is, I felt so sad when I saw the new logo he used on his website, it so professionally done, compared to what I did.. hahaha I didn't mentioned the logo to him but I still posted it to social media anyway without the logo name, just the logo. At the end of the day, it's a win-win situation. I was able to come up with a logo design plus I learned something new. Thanks to that meme.. haha.. and to you also for some wonderful tips..

I need a negative space logo because I need it for personal branding and watermarks with my Photography/Videography freelancing. A quality logo that looks good in the corner of a picture, or a big watermark, or on a business card. I'm struggling with a concept, however. Should I go symbol/icon or use some typography? My name isn't exactly easy to use for such things. Been battling for months. I really love the new Juventus FC Logo.
I personally would go for a symbol logo as they are more simplistic than a typographic logo, and that can transfer well over to a watermark and icon for social media etc
Regarding avoiding pathfinder, there‘s a trick where u can hold down alt when hovering over e.g. the subtract shapes button and this is non-destructive

please make a tutorial on how we should provide our works to clients. i mean when i outline strokes and regroup them ..... when after finally its done as i make it small to see it ..... itbecomes unreadable.
