It’s because he never tells them that they are being pranked, even at the way end. And also he acts funny but in a way where it seems like that could be his real personality. Also he doesn’t do stuff that “too” ridiculous that gives it away, and he also isn’t mean or doesn’t cause any damage or do anything bad to anyone like some other pranks do
