For my own home I use both a 2 stage and a single stage depending on the storm. Sometimes just a 48” wide shovel.

The sensible reason to have a small machine is you can lift it into your bed without wrecking your back or falling off ramps....

I agree with you. The part that got me was when he had the audacity to tell this young man "you know you gotta do the sidewalk all the way around." Dudes driving aroung so he can brag about himself

All I use is a Toro single stage. I put studs on the paddles and it's even better.... chews through ice piles pretty good.

I'm from Iowa but was stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina when I was in the Marines. I noticed some things that most people don't realize that makes areas like that much worse in inclement weather. The roads didn't have much if any crest to them, and there are no storm sewers to take water away. Also, they don't salt the roads, they don't have plows, and people don't seem to pay attention to their type of tires or amount of tread. It's a recipe for disaster if it snows.

Northwest Jersey doesn't have that much snow most of the times either. I do remember a couple of snow storms when things got interesting. I didn't have a snowblower for the longest time, so I used to a snow shovel. A couple of times I got lucky and a kind gentleman ended up giving me a hand by clearing my driveway with his snowplow. He never charged me any money, and obviously I always thanked him. One day I was out and when I came back my now ex told me how the gentleman had cleared the driveway and then charged him $20. I figured the gentleman must have thought, "I always see her shoveling the snow, but never him. is he really not helping at all". which he wasn't. I ended up dumping the ex, and my kids grew up so they began helping me shoveling. I then got re-married and with the new husband we also got a snowblower a couple of years later, tho up to then he had been shoveling the snow with me and my kids :D Sorry for the random story lol

@@Matty06001 my wife's family has a store. I'm part of it. When we get snow, I'll get up hours before her and make sure she can get out, get our last child to school on time, and meet me at the store and go about business. In the summer, fall etc, we do the mowing and raking etc together. It's just fun. In my case, working with my better half makes a miserable job fun.

Yeah, that one pull was impressive for sure. Makes me wonder if any mfgs ever made lightweight 2-stroke snowblowers. For examples like this might have been nice being light. But for sure they need some weight to work also.

It's magical when it's nighttime and snowing steadily but no wind; you go outside and it's so quiet. You watch the streetlight through the softly falling snow.

@@barbrn There really is meaning to the Christmas song 'Silent Night'. Every time it snows I go out at night and watch the snow falling and it's so silent and peaceful outside at night. There's no activity going on. Everybody's in the warmth of their homes. It reminds me of the song.

That's the only thing I didn't enjoy about it...the constant manual moving of the chute and the lack of self-propulsion.
