Glad to see that you had your dad’s and grandfather’s hand saws displayed in the cabin. My dad had a bunch of my grandfather’s old hand tools as well as a lot of his own older tools when he passed away. My mom passed away in 1985 and my dad eventually remarried. Needless to say, when he passed away, his wife and her side of the family, changed the Will and took control of everything.
Jesse, your sister is such a great sister and helper. You lucky boy! You could make a small timber frame memorabilia shelf in your basement, maybe with the Maine videos on a USB stick next to them! Just a suggestion.
Great to see you posting again! I am looking forward to ceeing more progress on your home, Don't let the trolls get toyou! best wishes from Jindabyne in the snowy mountains Australia
Great video. It was nice to see your sister again. Brought back a lot of memories of your early projects. I'm glad you are repurposing the original cabin and not getting rid of it.
Are there any update videos on the project, in its entirety? It would be nice to see where you guys are at with it all vs a few years ago when all the videos stopped.
Perfect little Air BNB or guest house for spillover when they don't all fit in the house. (or want a little privacy). Later on a playhouse for the the little ones maybe.
Got a good laugh, you are funny Jessy! "she aint much to look at, but she got a heart of a lion" and "when you work with reclamed materials its a lot of work and in the end when you are all done it looks pretty good... in the dark... from far away"
yes I would keep making like good storage shed maybe add on to and attack after making an Arizona room and on an open side so ya you will have expanded it a little but it's fun
OMG!!! Y’all are back!!!!!!! We just got notified!!! From our house to y’all’s, ❤ you guys!! You are the reason we continue to have the dream of homesteading! Thank you for your work and for sharing your lives with us!
you have proven to be a handy fellow. that shed would make a nice little Black Smithing shop. hint, hint..an anvil shaped object, a forge and a hammer.. thanks for sharing, and have fun! o by the way, have you kids found the siding you like for the house?? its been a while sense ive seen it. be well and have fun!
Glad to have you back and posting here on YT. You have been missed. Hey you are grumping over a 1/4 inch of sag of the cross pole that was only supported at the ends with a center load on it... I'd say you rightly did a good job with your design work!
Wow, guys, I'm in shock that you still have the shed/house. It looks to still be going strong, as for your sister still being around and helping you with your house build, honestly, that's just awesome to see and I hope you're still using the wood milling machine between the two of you. The last thing I have to say is simply that I'm really glad that you decided to return to uploading videos to RU-vid and that you didn't give in to the bullying people who were making your life hell . As alway's guy's 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Looks like a planting shed to me. If you put the metal structure back on, you could make a quick greenhouse attached to the garden/planting shed. You have heat insulation and electricity. Couple of shelves with lights and a DIY heater mat (wood and Xmas lights) and you're ready to go. Use the planned for doorway to ventilate and heat the greenhouse. You could even use it for a wee woodworking shop.
Good to hear a little one giggling! I do miss the days when you were first getting the place put together. I still remember when I figured out what exit you were passing as you went through Bend Oregon, was fun to see that you passed some place that I knew. You guys moved to Idaho as I was moving to Oregon. I did think that it was a bit crazy to make that trip on Labor Day weekend! And here we are, almost eight years later. Hugs to you all! ❤
Wow! That feels so good to see you guys here again. I look forward to the stairs build and cabin evolution. You guys are amazing. I too was thrilled to hear your child's shriek. Beautiful.
Enjoyed the video and the flashback history Jesse. Sorry y'all have had so much trouble. Glad you're saving the old cabin. You all take care and God bless.
Jesse, you are proving the old saying Waste not Want not. If you had used materials from the modern era building that shed instead of 100 year old materials materials it would have been in the burn 🔥 pile. Lol 😆. The truth is you guys have come along ways in your journey and that is something you can be proud of. Thanks again for the updates. Prayers for you 🙏 guys.
I’m really glad you guys are back! I’ve missed your videos!! Glad to see everyone is safe and thriving. The cabin is amazing!!! If you were ever needing a RU-vid studio, that might make a great one!!!
That cabin would make a great putter shed/hand tool workshop. A great place for some pull saws and some hand planes. Maybe a smaller stove and you could re-side it with offcuts from the sawmill.
So many things I wanna say! How cute your kids squeal is in the intro; how this feels like watching your old videos again. I'm definitely feeling motivated and inspired again. Also, hows thay dewalt weed trimmer?
The memorabilia blocks are a really neat idea. Hopefully they will have a place in your new home. The cabin can be used as a he or she cave, guest quarters, or even just storage. Plenty of uses for a sound structure.
I love that you also use the traditional tools of the trade: Using a plumb bob is often faster, and more accurate, to mark longer lengths for vertical than using a [water bubble] level. The same applies for getting the horizontal over longer distances, and especially around obstacles: a water filled hose is faster and less error prone than the string level.
