I can't believe no one has commented on the fact that that car flew about 50 metres over a beach with no ramp. This doesn't quite reach the heights of the Stingray chair death season. Love it.
Right? Like, how fast was he driving? Also, I love how the editing makes it look like he *sped up* after noticing the bend in the road. Truly one of Neighbour's stupidest moments.
+AusMade Yeah I saw it too funny as you can just slow it down in settings . Ramp must have been in the most perfect/inconvenient place whichever way you wanna look at it . Also you can hear the tyres lock up but then they start rolling . Hilarious
Cracks me up that the car ploughed through a road sign, whilst firmly on the ground. Next thing you know... the car is at a totally different angle flying through the air!??!! Like the thing took off as a plane would... cracks me up.
Toadie "She's probably hiding or something, she's gonna come back and she's gonna be in big trouble!" - he didn't know it at the time, but how right he was!
donnn 0666 yes, and the car was allegedly tampered with - surely the forensic exam would have picked up on that, as Toadie himself claimed. Another plot hole, if I recall correctly, is Andrea and Dee being twins; when Andrea first came and tried to con Toadie that she was Dee, didn't she not only take Nell's DNA and pass it off as Willow's (to try to say Willow was Toadie's daughter), but also find Dee's old hair brush, take some of the hair on the brush (claiming it was her [Andrea's] hair) and that sample got tested against Dee's sister Cecile's DNA (the claim being Cecile's DNA was on file somehow) and were found to be a sibling match. That doesn't fit - Cecile and Dee would NOT be a match as they would not be blood relatives (Dee was taken away from her mother and twin sister and given to her adoptive family at birth according to the story now said)
@@kaceyanders6599 yes exactly well spotted. The writers actually admit that is a plot hole!! Also we still don't know how Andrea found out about the truth or dare kiss. And the time of dees sister funeral has also changed. But. with all the twists and turns of this storyline there was always going to be some mistakes! Lol
donnn 0666 Then the continuity checkers on plots should be fired! I'm starting to think this storyline has another dark twist on the horizon - I don't think that Riley character is what he has claimed to be; the story portrayed him as being controlling over Dee (any jobs she applied for while hiding as Karen had to go through him), why didn't he save Toadie after the crash, how come he wasn't charged for wasting police resources (if he knew Dee had been saved, the police were searching fruitlessly for her body) I don't think Dee is being totally straight with Toadie either - she could easily have gotten in contact with Toadie once the Zantucks were in gaol, but she left it over 7 years. Yes she wanted to let him live after he had moved on, but I still feel she should have gotten in contact with someone.
cant believe this was over 10 yrs ago. thing that pissed me off most was the body was never found and that is a classic sign that the character will return unexpectedly from the dead a year or more later. if you see the bit where he dives to the car, she isnt in the car and so she clearly got out even though her door is closed...odd really
Classic Australia Soap Opera trope: If the cast members are in a car that looks like it was brought wholesale from the wreckers for $200, they're going to die IN THAT CAR. ( why destroy a new car for 10 seconds of mid afternoon screen time?)
Who's watching in 2018, when we're at the point where the mystery woman in the psychiatric hospital in Hobart claims to be Dee? Let's hope it is Dee! Though the woman on the bench with the mystery man was definitely Dee
What's more shocking to me is that it's been 20 years since this storyline now and it's already been 7 years since the fake Dee storyline...where does the time go?
Toadie should have been charged with manslaughter. When you're driving a car you're responsible for everyone's lives in the car. Unfortunately, there probably wouldn't be enough evidence to result in a conviction, but it bothers me that he got off scot free.
I heard Dee might be back so that's what brought me here. He wouldn't be able to formally charged with manslaughter anyways without seeing the body of course. But that's if they would, and yeah it is a t.v. show lol.
Dee's letter to Toadie is so sad. The part where Toadie explains to Bob "I can't find her mate..." choked me (cut from this video) and then he goes to read the letter and it's like :'( ...they really knew how to do emotional scenes back then!!
The Andrea/Dee storyline has had some good, sometimes hilarious scenes like when Andrea and Dee came to Toadie's house and both were trying to convince Toadie they were the real Dee, especially "don't look at me, I don't even know you" to Willow, her own daughter. But I do agree with you overall. The storyline was rushed and it caused quite a number of continuity holes, like when Andrea got hair samples from Dee's old hairbrush in order to pass off as her own, which were then tested and found to match Dee's sister Cecille's DNA.But that doesn't now work - Cecille was not Dee's blood sister so the DNA wouldn't have matched. Dee and Andrea are twins separated at birth! And I don't like the real-life consequences either. Eve Morey, who played Sonya, got made redundant - she was told Sonya was to be killed off, she did NOT want to leave herself - yet they essentially give the job back to Madeline West, who plays both Dee and Andrea, after West decided to leave in the early 2000's.
Just imagine if she came back one of these days and it was reveled that someone she survived but had like memory loss or something and although Toadie remembers her she has no idea who he is...
I am watching this on December the 15th 2016 - I never saw it back when it was on but I can't believe they never found her... is it going to be like Harrold coming back after all those years ??
I wouldn't call it genius, the way I see it is that the writers at the time intended for the character to die, not finding her body just made Toadies grieving process a bit more interesting, 2 years later Serena and Liljanas bodies were not found and there has never been any real doubt that they died, the writers for that storyline obviously did that to tie in with Harolds grief over the coming weeks, not because they wanted the characters to return.
I watched Neighbours from 1991-2007 here are a few thoughts.... 1) Toadie was punching way above his weight with Dee. 2) I enjoyed this story/episode/s immensely because I am a sadistic bastard. 3) It made NO SENSE at all that a) Toadie would come off the road at that speed/angle and hit the water b) that her body would not be in the car when Toadie dived down, and c) that her body would never be found. Totally implausible on all counts. But hey, that's why we loved it- getting to see Toadie's misery. :)
Man, I'm torn between Dee and Sonya. Dee's one of the best girls in her days. I guess most of us are happy with Toadie and Sonya, but when I see Dee I become nostalgic. I just want her to come back and be with Toadie again.
Man, when this first aired I was so sure she would be back in like a week or something. I just kept expecting some blonde lady to show up and be all like "Dee, who's Dee."
Just to add, I found this video because a newspaper columnist wrote about how hilarious she found the poor editing of the accident, that she recorded the tea-time repeat in England especially to watch the glorious farce in slow motion.
I don't understand how Dee wasn't in the car - she must have swam to shore - she can't be dead as her body would have been down there but it isn't. I bet she'll return one of these days.
Toady should've just pulled over and stopped before looking @ Dee and kissing her. That's what I'd do if I was getting married and driving whilst me and the wife are on our honeymoon. As some TAC(Transport Accident Commission)ads have said, it's in your hands. Concentrate or kill.
I still hope everyone involved with that character, change their mind and bring Dee back. I loved the character. Using the classic storyline's of she's in a coma at some hospital or washed up somewhere with amnesia. I know cheesy but it would be great!! I personally feel that they should've had a body to offer finally of her character being dead, but that's me. Still loved the character's in the early noughties.
So the explanation for Dee disappearing was Riley was following them when they crashed, jumped in and rescued Dee. How did Toadie not see them swimming away ? He came up straight away.
and have heard on the grapevine that she will return in her role as a nurse when the fragment of bullet in toadie's back causes problems for him. also heard something about robert robinson returning to the show to cause more trouble for paul and ramsay street. though these rumors are often just that - had heard years ago that harold's granddaughter serena and daughter in law lil would return after the aircraft bombing but now that harold is long gone, that aint gonna happen.
Dee had to "suddenly" leave as she got run over by a bus! She said before neighbours did hit it's 25years being on, she would love to come back, i think one day they should bring her back would be awesome, but i doubt it :-(
i don't know why I watch this show every night, when all I do is laugh and then cringe at the terrible story lines. the acting is below par at the best of times aswell. dees character hasn't changed from andrea one bit its funny..
