i wrestled for 8 years. 4th grade through senior in the mid to late seventies. it was brutal. no restrictions on what you could do to lose weight. it's not just a sport it's a way of life. other sports you go home after a game or practice and live your normal life. with wrestling, you go home and work out to cut more weight. you don't go party with your friends because you can't eat or drink anything. so by those standards i think it's the hardest sport

I also wrestled for 8 years and it molded me into who I am today. It makes you tough mentally and physically, which I use in my job as a carpenter. Sometimes carpentry can be physically demanding and I think to myself, no way will I quit, ever. That mindset has helped me throughout my entire life.

hardest sport indeed because losing is the worst feeling but a victory is addictive and sweeter than sex. sports like boxing you get knocked out it was easier for me to handle that loss because fighting is such a wild card. but you lose in a wrestling match you know who the better man is.
@stevenwilliams7041
@stevenwilliams7041 Год назад
@@swazzyjay I wrestled and started doing mma also competed in jiu jitsu and you losing in a fight is worse than losing in wrestling because wrestling is the true test of strength whereas an mma fight is the ultimate form of competition a man can go through. Also wrestling doesn’t work on multiple attackers, and that sounded a little funny saying a wrestling victory is better than sex haha

I still remember wrestling as a kid and we were doing bleacher laps for about 30+ minutes straight. Then we'd come back in the morning before school and run laps and do mat work and then come back after school and do mat work. Wrestling makes you into a man real quick. We had 2 girls on our team and I always respected them cause our coach didn't take it easy on them and they never broke.

wrestling is fu*kin brutal just saying. I think back to my high school days and ask myself how and why in the hell did I put myself through so much torture? I truly believe I tested my limits that most people will never reach. not bragging by any means but former wrestlers will understand where I'm coming from.

Wrestling is the hardest sport in the world carry you and the company at the same time with a 24 7 schedule traveling with serious injuries and no time off and screaming fans constantly in your face and in the airport to then have to do it all over again the same way tmrw
@justamurse5646

Worked/fake wrestling or sports entertainment is not the same as what he’s talking about here. Amateur wrestling is leagues different and totally superior and more demanding art. I can respect what pro “wrestlers” do to their bodies to tell a story to their fans, and the traveling you mentioned. And it’s no coincidence some of the best pro wrestlers are former amateur and catch wrestlers.

Wrestling is hard but boxing is even harder. Boxing is probably the most difficult sport I can think of
@justamurse5646

Have to disagree. Having done both competitively, the cardio it takes to do wrestling is far harder than boxing. Boxing has its own complexities as the sweet science, sometimes being more like a chess match akin to bjj, but sometimes it can feel like wrestling too-fast paced, setting traps, reacting 2 steps ahead, etc. Both excellent martial arts, and possibly the original western martial arts!
@Notnameworthy

@@justamurse5646 I agree with you that boxing isn’t harder than wrestling, but having done both, I’d say they require pretty much the same cardio/winning mindset

@@Notnameworthy mindset is similar for sure. Having done both as well and wrestled most my life, I always felt like wrestling definitely required more cardio. It’s a lot more fast paced with explosive movements, level changing, scrambles, etc. but boxing is close. Agree to disagree bruddah

Here is my take.. wrestling is harder because in boxing you can straight up,,, one punch-LIGHTS OUT! your opponent, where as in wrestling, you have to systematically defeat your opponent without throwing a punch or a kick.. now to argue against my point. In boxing, you do have to eat a combination that’s going to rock your brain. To that I’ll say, yeah but I’ve watched people get thrown for 5 right onto their head that would KO most people. So both have equal potential for destruction. . To end my Tedtalk, wrestling and boxing are very close in generalizing, “ what is the toughest sport” but wrestling is a more pure form of physical contact, as the aim is to defeat your opponent while still preserving their brains… I’ve trained mma with decorated pro fighters, a few big dawg ufc fighters, my main experience in martial arts is wrestling. First match I was 4 years old, and after 4 years in college, I went on to mma.. so I’ve done my fare share of combat sports. At the end of the day, nothing compares to wrestling. I wrestled 100+ matches a year when I was in high school. You just can’t do that many boxing matches. Brains will be absolute mush lol wrestling will always have the number one spot..

@@yeshuasage3724 Even then, it’s way more taxing on the body in the long term. My dad wrestled competitively for a shorter period than the average wrestler (he prioritised education) and still has back problems to this day from people sprawling on him so much. Cycling has always been a dirtier sport (not to say wrestling isn’t) but those dudes can still run and do rigorous physical activities long after the retired. You’d be incredibly lucky to wrestle competitively for 4 years (pretty short) and not have a knee surgery at one point.

Tour de France is an event, not a sport, first of all. It’s high endurance but low skill. Anyone can ride a bike.
@user-jr9dd1co7x
@user-jr9dd1co7x Месяц назад
Im tell you right know - you dont fucking idea what you talking about. By ESPN boxing is the hardest sport of all, not combat sport, but all sports. And lets be clear, what you mean by hardest, if you mean physically demanding, I mean cycling is most demanding, Its brutal, take, for example, Tour de France, guys cycling race 3.500 km for 21 days, that is beyond brutal, just see them legs after finishing professional carrier. But that sport is, for example, not technically demanding, its more physically. In some sport you need raw power, in some durability and power, in some both that and technique, in some all that and speed, and so many other thing. So, ESPN made 10 category (power, endurance, speed, agility, and so one) in which we compare being hard and boxing win by far. Not to mention that is not category for something like being punched in face and struggle with pain and so on. Not to mention that professional boxing match for title is 12 rounds, but wrestling is 2-3 max.. Also, boxing is incomparable harder sport when you take that you can be so strong but lose from someone who is much faster and technically better and so on. I have been training boxing for 15+ years, and trained so many wrestler who wanna try boxing a little bit, you would be surprised how wrestlers are weak when need to punch, they get tired quickly when they have to hit, they are slow and sluggish, they are more pushing pad then hitting, not to mention their movement, although they are much physically stronger than boxers, not to mention how surprised they are when they start to they receive punches in the face, don't be ridiculous that wrestling can be compared to boxing. You have boxers like Sugar Ray Robinson who looked like some 75 kg teenager and killed a man in a fight, that is he died tomorrow the day after the fight from injuries given by Sugar Ray Robinson in head which is recognized by many as the best boxer of all time. In boxing, if you have raw physical strength like wrestlers - thats is nothing - if you are not fast and technically perfect, to be a top boxer you also have to have a special talent, sense of rhythm and many other things, not to mention how much complete boxer are as athlete much faster, much agile, boxing is incomparable technically demanding then wrestling, that is reason why wrestlers give that much to raw strength and look like bodybuilders, but in boxing that literally nothing when you get gloves and go came in ring. Just look at Roy Jones Jr. and what he is able to as boxer, and not just him, but so many boxer legends, then show me same for wrestlers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pkMAf0ZHO_k.html&ab_channel=MuayThaiKimura
