" "Remember Me" is a gentle song of longing and memories concerning past friendships, past loves, and places traveled. The typical Diamond sound is expressed here to perfection" (Allmusic Guide.com) Beautiful song from 1978.
I have spent the past two months rediscovering Neil Diamond. Old stuff, new stuff, anything I can get my hands on here on RU-vid. Hours and hours and hours and hours. Family is getting worried, lol. This piece is one I had forgotten about--simply beautiful. Incomparable, inspiring, intriguing, inviting.
I as well used like hearing hear on radio but never purchased his works. Recently I made a point to see someone who dedicated life to giving tribute Neil . He has done yhis many years I came to believe has very adopted faith as Neil has publicly acknowledged that he is a man of God. I also consider that I am as well. So I am now going purchase as much his music because absolutely have enjoyed both the songs I have and I have not heard or did not recall remembering them until I saw this mans tribute. Very favorably felt it when I heard them. Neil was in the room.
I find myself doing the very same thing. Revisiting, hearing many Neil Diamond compositions for the first time probably because I felt it was “uncool” to love Neil Diamond. Here I am in the winter of my life, feeling every word, every emotion, having experienced virtually every lyric he’s penned over the years I’ve been away. I am discovering a Treasure Trove of beauty and emotion I have shut out. Thank you, RU-vid …
Not many singers (& songwriters) know how to touch others on an emotional level. You can actually feel love, longing, sadness, joy…mostly LOVE, in Neil’s beautiful voice. Thank you Neil for all the hours, days, years and decades of the most beautiful music!!
I have been revisiting, listening to several Neil Diamond compositions for the first time because I thought it was “uncool” to love Neil Diamond. Here I am in the winter of my life feeling every note, every lyric Neil Diamond’s penned over the years I’ve regrettably been away. I am discovering a treasure trove of beauty and raw emotion I shut out over time. Thank you, RU-vid ..
ND has done about three million great album cuts like this one, stuff that never makes the radio playlists but has a spot in the hearts and minds of his fans...
Yes Neil, many of us remember you from that far away beginning and will still remember when we're nothing but just atoms floating in the wind. Somehow the songs you have created will still be there flowing through that river you made with all the music you pulled from your heart and from your soul.
We love you Neil.
I sure do remember you! I can't forget you. I've been your biggest fan since I was 7 years old. I'm 60, now. For years, I bought nobody else's music but yours. I listened to nobody else's music but yours for literally hours on end. NOBODY compares to you in talent; and God knows you were always so very easy on the eyes.
Well i would say head too elvis has i have loved elvis from 13 teen and will do so and got in neal in my 20s so there it goes too great singers and had the lot whith it thats my view,
This song was the "B" side to the top 40 smash hit "Forever in Blue Jeans". It's too bad because this song could have easily hit the top 10 back in the late 70's.
Neil 💎 I will never forget you. You have been in my life since I was born. That's all mom ever played were your albums. Happy birthday on Jan 24 of 2022. Mines on jan20 God bless you Neil and your family. Love from Michigan. 🌹🙏♥️
Thanks for being a fan!! I just wanna appreciate you in particular for being a fan and you should keep supporting me it brings me so much joy that I'm able to put smiles on your faces and hearts.🌺🥰
Neil still IS a very good looking man, imho. I truly hope his forced retirement is productive--new songs even if that hellish Parkinson's won't allow him to sing them.
Neil's album cuts can be awkward at times, especially the ones done during his '12000 pc orchestra' period, but this comes across beautifully. I love the subtle and introspective songs, have been a fan since the 60s!
If there is anything better, if there ever was, I can't imagine it. Near perfection in the world. He is amazing. Forever will be. A great gift to us all. A well put together video. Unique. Thanks for it.
every song that he sings is just beautiful, his voice is special, gods gift just love him, ever since i first heard his voice way back in guyana south america, heard about your sickness neil,i will remember you in my prayer,
I LOVE THIS SONG. THAT ONE PART WHERE HE SINGS (IM THE BOY YOU GAVE YOUR HEART TO DON"T YOU THINK WE"VE BEEN APART TO LONG THIS TIME YOU"VE BEEN ON MY MIND) MAKES ME MELT EVERY TIME
YESSS! That lyric is my favorite in this incredible song. It didn't hit the Top 40. Yet it was a B side. We Diamondheads appreciate the magic of Neil's songs SO many have missed. I could listen for days. And have!
Although I have many, this has always been one of my favorite songs by Neil Diamond. He has so many songs that are 'obscure' that are SO wonderful. Nobody has the talent he has. Nobody has the beautiful, melodic voice he has. Nobody can write lyrics and music the way he does. (Can you tell I love him?)
Neil the soul that you sing from touches my heart in such a Beautiful way this internet allows me to see and hear so much of your special Gift I only truly have one wish. and that is to someday meet you you have picked up my spirits when I thought it wasn't possible .You are so very very Special You share so much Magic I only hope you know how much Joy you bring to so many Hearts ... I am also a singer and I also know you sing from your Soul ,May God Bless and Keep You .maybe one day I will be fortunate to meet you and go to one of your concerts .You Keep Singing Neil
I will remember you and think of you in every step you take. You are a man of extreme integrity who has shared feelings with the world. Many people don't feel anything but sad until they understand life through your words, actions, and pursuit of the future. Remember you? I live your words. Kitty Kelso
Neil your beautiful wood work would look wonderful in some of my Dad's buildings. I thought my Dad would never break silence and I was so overwhelmed when he did that he took my breathe away. I was so relieved and over whelmed. I am so proud of him and the whole family although I grew up out here and I love them so much and I am so proud of them. I wanted Christ Consciousness and my Dad said if that is what you want go for it.
...you r u, i am me...we may never meet yet, we r connected by moments of feelins, words, time, memories, beginnins, endins, music, passion, moments in time...i drift often yr way just to hold a memory never to be broken because of distance...the perfect relationship...and it is ours...thanks for the timeless moments in time of rememberances........
....3:12 looks so much like son Jesse....yes I remember...tnanks for going along with me all thoses years, your forever on my mind...and my man...thanks for the video
This is still my all time favourite from "You dont bring me flowers". I always smirk with embarrassment when I remember how I used to misinterpret the lyric and wonder what was Neil doing standing in line 4 and who was queuing in the other 3 lines . I would love to hear a live recording of this but I dont think Neil has done one. Neil always delivers better vocally in front of an audience as if the meaning of the song suddenly comes into focus for him.
He was going thru a difficult time. And we were to talk before x-mas. That call was never made. However he knows how much i loved him. And now i know that he feels it.
Another point of interest, "You dont bring me flowers" was intended to be a double album called " The American Popular Song" but with the success of the single with Striesand Neil was pressured into a Christmas 78 single album release. Consequently the following album "September Morn" was made up significantly of the cover versions of great American pop songs which would have been intended for the double album had he released it.
