I will hold the image of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman walking through NYC singing "Shoehorn With Teeth" close to my heart for the rest of my life.

I love that Terry Pratchett was singing a TMBG song very near Brooklyn. I wonder if they know he was a fan.

Neil Gaiman's impersonation of his friend is so brilliant :) You can also tell how much they remained true friends throughout their lives, especially when you see the bit in the Back in Black documentary where he talks about how much he misses his friend

I can't believe that even with an Alzheimer, he still managed to remember so many details of that day. You just got to love him.

right? I mean look at the discworld, all the characters hundreds of them, and they all intertwine, I cant even begin to explain how human death is . He is brilliant, absolute brilliant and I admire him more then tolkin.

Yep! He travels on the Overhead in our websites... Anyone who has a WordPress website can install the GNU Terry Pratchett Plugin. And Users of Firefox and Android can install the add-on that puts a Clacks card on your toolbar, so that when a website is sending Sir Terry's name on in the Overhead, the card will light up... and you can wave him on Terry Pratchett you live forever... >>>>> Sir Terry Pratchett >>>> Always Going Home On The Overhead! >>>> addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/gnu_terry_pratchett/

Currently reading "Witches Abroad" and oh boy, best Pratchett book I red so far. Granny does not fuck around. Most bad ass female fictional character i can think of. Imagine her in the Harry Potter universe :D She'd just tell Voldemort to be kind and he'd be happy to do so.

I have never read a book voluntarily, of course I’ve read all the books they forced us to analyze in school and I think that’s what turned me off of books for so long. Somehow small gods was put in front of me one day and I started reading out of pure boredom, after an hour I realized I love reading! Small gods is awesome so far almost done with it.

I guess a man with Alzheimer's can still have a good memory, just maybe not all the time...
@kwgrid
@kwgrid 6 лет назад
I tend to believe that they're still 'in there', but the difficulty is getting the 'in there' to the 'out there' due to mechanical problems, if you get what mean.
@Galastel
@Galastel 5 лет назад
The memories are there, it's just "finding" them that stops working. A person might remember they have a daughter, but be unable to recognise her, and keep looking for her while she's there.
@swiftlymurmurs
@swiftlymurmurs 5 лет назад
That, yes, but Terry also had rather peculiar Alzheimer's symptoms, that degraded his short term memory much worse than his long term, save the smaller details.
@josephteller9715
@josephteller9715 5 лет назад
@@swiftlymurmurs It happens... some lose the short term before the long. I had a friend who's mom developed it... both short and long term became spotty. Could remember when her library books were due but could not remember if she ate breakfast that morning or what it was.... and the last time I saw her my friend had to tell her several times who I was (I was there to help him move some of her stuff into storage as she was going in to an assisted living situation and he was selling the house for her etc.).
@lehelisbored
@lehelisbored 4 года назад
@@swiftlymurmurs The most common effect of Alzheimer's on the brain is the inability to store memories on the outer layer of the brain, which atrophies. Long term and "emotional memories" (i.e. remembering the way something/someone makes you fell, but not remembering the functional details about them, like their name) are stored in the amygdala, which is usually not damaged by dementia. Terry however had posterior cortical atrophy, a rate type of dementia which is somewhat different, but generally similar to Alzheimer's. In the late stage of his life he did however show the most common symptoms of most dementias - aphasia, or the loss of speech skills (even though he knew what he wanted to say, he couldn't find the right words) and decreased concentration, or being "muddled" when having to sequence tasks.

did Gaiman, Pratchett and Adams ever meet together in the same room at the same time?
@Elsenoromniano
@Elsenoromniano 7 лет назад
Probably, Gaiman and Terry were close friends and they were all part of the H.P Lovecraft Holiday fun club (A group of sci-fi/fantasy authors who were in every gathering). and Gaiman definitely knew Adams, so it' wouldn't be weird for them to coincide in one conference or such and have a nice talk. And I would pay a spleen to be able to have been there.

THEY comforted Terry before he died and told him everything would end well. THEY conveyed this message to many people. Maybe someone will be interested in this information, comfort someone else. Someone else can laugh. The services take it all seriously .The people who work there are not big fans of religion, God, Gods . Furthermore, THEIR rules are a joke for many of them.
