You'd think fans of mr bungle would get this...seems like very few in the crowd did. Like, im listening to the album California now, and it just seems like people who like off the wall music like this would understand neils set.
+Kev Craven I've been going to shows for the past 8 years(not a brag, just a fact) and I can say with certainty the majority of music fans are dumb. I'm not even talking taylor swift or nickelback fans, either. Music fans in general.
Is it me or does it sound like he had a backing track of hecklers playing through the PA? Also with the football crowd wailings.well I guess if you're expected to get heckled...drown out your hecklers with a blaring heckle track! That's kind of ingenious actually if that's what he did. If not, then I claim cred. 😬
This feels like a completely different act with more emphasis on him not being funny, Neil's later material is actually funny imo because of his delivery, like Norm Macdonald. I think this is hilarious too but he is butchering the jokes here, and imo he basically sells all these jokes now.
Think this is at Selina's, Coogee Bay Hotel, Sydney. I was there and remember him getting spat on and coins thrown at him. He took it like it ain't no thing haha!
Gregg Turkington was born in Australia, is a vegan and animal rights activist, used to hang out with dudes like Will Shatter of Flipper in the worst parts of San Fransisco, and is a super nice dude, so he is hell of a performer to have created such an alter ego, that actually has remained relevant, perhaps more now than ever when most comedians bring along fucking life story acts. He is an Entertainer, and part of the Neil Hamburger facade is trolling how dumb most entertainers and comedians are. Its actually refreshing coming back to Neil, a comedian who doesn't bring a fucking biography of their life and experience with them. The Secret Chiefs shows I have gone to in OZ are filled with fucking moronic Slayer and Faith No More fans. Most music fans are moronic pieces of hit, even the Bungle fans.
Mike Patton needs to collaborate with Tim Heidecker. You'd think with his connection to Neil Hamburger/Greg Turkington that it would have happened already.
