I don't usually simp in the comments, but... This channel is super underrated. 1. Neil is great to watch. Even though I'm older than him, I aspire to be like him, I really appreciate him (as a person) and his work. 2. Whoever is running the camera and editing, you are killing it. These videos have a great vibe. 3. The shop is amazing, dream material.

Let's be real, forging a kukri that well with that shape is f'ing HARD! I've tried many many times and never really gotten exactly what I wanted out of it. The problem I have seems to be in the pre forming and I think I learned a LOT from this video on how to move the steel out on the front of the blade to get the chunky part right. Excited to give it another try.

I dig the way you explain your process. I know F*^k all about forging, I am a wood turner. My point is that you explain things in a way that anyone can understand what and why you are doing something. Not everyone is a good teacher but you certainly are. Thank you brother.

Great video! Your way of teaching how to forge is so much more enjoyable than most. I’ve watched Jason do the same thing but your version helped me more. Your whole attitude and the banter in the shop is inspiring. Maybe after watching this one several hundred times, I’ll get it right😂. That blade has been scary and that’s probably why mine don’t come out right. I’ll try your method next time. Thanks for the great instruction! Keep it up. Also thanks for helping Mr Steve, he’s an inspiration to us all

Been forging everything tip to handle. Ive done a couple of kukri's but the next one will be handle to tip. Me thinks that is a mo easier way. I cant thank you enough for these vids. Uber inspirational and uber motivational. The educational value is unmatched, imo. Forging to shape allows you to enter that zen state when perfecting the profile. At least it does for me. Quick heats and uber light taps are a calming and peaceful state of existence. I happen to have 4 ft of 80CRV2 2" x 1/4" and Im now itchin to try another kukri but handle to tip this time! Forge On!!! ps I gotta say that your input on the Paragon kiln is spot on. I tried to use that touch pad and Im 6'1" and 250 with big ol sausage fingers. I cant even hit the right letter which was a nightmare trying to enter my WiFi password. Only took 20 tries and I could not hit the delete key so I had to start over and hit cancel when I hit an incorrect key. I notice there is a calibrate setting for the key pad and I really hope this helps with fat fingeritus. Kind of excited to heat treat to a specific Rockwell hardenss as I will test different ones to see which holds up to the most abuse without failure.

AHHHHHHHH😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 I LOVE SEEING A SMITH ACTUALLY USE THE PEEN OF A HAMMER IT'S SO RARE!!!!!!! There is no such thing as wasted metal, if you have a bit of excess, you cut off...save it in a scrap bin, and throw it in a canister later, or forge weld it with other scrap pieces, make something small out of it. 🤔... i think i make tips different than a lot of Smiths😅 its the last thing i do before beveling. i like to hot cut a section off so that section is the edge and then hammer it to shape i want it to be if it's too long I will do another hot cut. I hate having to grind the shape of the tip.

First off, thanks for the great content. I am curious how you can make your business viable. I've been making metal for over 10 years, and there is no way I can turn a profit that would make it viable. I thought about making some blades that are not forged. Just grind the shape. But, to be honest, it feels like cheating. Any advice? Sorry for any spelling mistakes. I can't find my glasses.

So much contradictory statements depending on who you watch. Some say if your blade curves upwards while beveling, you arent hitting it right. I wish i could see the old school smiths at work. I guess if it works its right?
