I heard Neil Larsen the year I went to Berklee to study drums and percussion. His music and the awesome players he surrounded himself with helped form my playing style. It's still fresh...
Fantastic Album, Buzzy Feiton was a huge influnece on my guitar playing when I was growing up and this solo was one of my first real melodic fusion like solo's that I learned note for note. Great Stuff still listen to this album a few times a year.
I loved this album and the Jungle Fever album... Really good uplifting music and fine musicians. Larsen was an excellent keyboard player... some considered him a studio musician which is fine BUT he sold a lot of albums and had many appearances. I saw him live in concert and was totally blown out. His Guitarist was excellent.
This guy is So UnderRated. What a Unique Sound. I wish they had this Music on ITunes. I have the Vinyl in Pristine Condition. I need to have this in my collection. - Michael Caz - NYC -
Michael Caz "Jungle Fever" IS on ITunes ....of course you can only get the title song if you download the entire album but why wouldn't you, the entire work is great ! Enjoy !
Sometimes I think Neil Larsen and Buzz Feiten got the idea to this song while riding through Mojave Desert in an open top sportscar, heading for Las Vegas.
Tremendous song-this is one of those songs that can "transport" me back to my favorite years- (this song has such a great late 70's early 80's feel to it, it is unbelievable). This is why I love music so much- I think this era was the best for LA and NY studio musicians 1975-1983-by the way who played bass on this cut ?It sounds like Neil Jason(who did alot of studio work with Buzz and Neil. This could have been a theme song for alot of different tv shows from that era
Tried to reply but it went to the wrong post... indeed I am a Dan fan. I love those studio musicians too. Their age seems to have largely come and gone, but every once in a while, something old-school still shows up.
They should do an unplugged version in the Grand Canyon Acoustic see if they Have the strength Pump organ and a Daquisto oval hole Have Petra sing the other parts.
Wheres demonette.....a fine samba indeed, funky too...!...This brings back memories trying to put those Gadd 2 hand over foot patterns together....very tasty...!!!
Thanks for the info man I am a huge studio musician fan and I love to know who plays what-Abe was a monster bassist and what an incredible lineup-Are you a Steely Dan fan?
