If history is anything to go by - they will. They've invited Amelia Tyler, who voiced Malady (an NPC in Divinity: Original Sin 2) to a much bigger role of a narrator in BG3. Fingers crossed they will do the same with Mr. Newbon. Imagine listening to a voice of a narrator by Neil? Ugh, simply to die for.
@@DisEkript Jeah, Larian seems to be a really loyal bunch but i think that at least Neil cant really get a much bigger role in a Larian game, i mean Astarion was one of THE main characters.
@DisEkript Brian Bowles, the narrator of dos2 also came back to voice Sceleritas Fel, and Tamaryn Payne who voiced Lohse came back as Mizora (how ironic that the woman who previously played a devil possessed magic person came back to voice the Devil who was in possession of a different magic person)
Neil Newbon's anecdote about submitting audition for 10 out of 12 races just because he wanted in..... makes me remember Del Toro's Pinocchio and Kate Blanchett's story about it. KB: "I want in" GdT:"But I've only got the monkey left-" KB:"Give me the monkey!" It was fate ❤❤❤❤
Everyone would pay for a Baldur’s Gate DLC, it’s just up to whether Larian decide to go back to it. Buuuut they’ll only work on things they’re 100% enjoying rather than cash grabs (a big game studio with integrity woooow wtf)
Larian already had prepared the entire plot for Upper City but for some reason decided to remove it... And they also stated they don't want to do any DLC. Rumors have it Larian has big disagreement with Wizards of the coast because the latter fired all people that worked hard with Larian to develop BG3. Anyway, I would pay big amount of money to be able to play the upper city plot they already wanted to do...
My ideal would be if they did more of the animated shorts that are on the Larian youtube channel that they did as part of launch or console release announcements. They're fun very fun and funny, especially "Christmas Gift" which is still the most recent video on the channel at the time of writing. Point being, just seeing more of those kind of character interaction type things would be wonderful! ^v^
@thethirdrichard7787 exactly, he clearly knows what he wants to do or say and just goes for it. of course it helps that he's talking about stuff he's spent years doing or studying, so he's naturally got propriety to talk about it haha. and of course he's in good shape too, that always helps.
As someone from New Jersey the East Coast accent was startlingly accurate. I've heard that same guy yelling at a target employee, at a baseball game, and road-raging on the turnpike. Absolutely uncanny.
holy shit I never knew he was Kamski. Fuckin love Detroit Become Human and Kamski was one of my favorite characters in the game. Neat to find out that was Neil
For real, Neil is REALLY Versatile with his characters. His ranged is so broad and I love how he explained specificly in each character origins and inspo, showing how devoted and creative he is for his craft. The fact he also able to switch into his characters and willing to try as much as he could showing how he loved acting. He is absolutely amazing! ✨💛 He is my fave actor now✨ And that part he switched into Elijah Kamski and looking at him doing it in real life got me 😳
Neil’s versatility has to be his most impressive skill. I’ve followed multiple games he’s been in and never would’ve recognized him based on performance alone. That is true voice acting.
So cool to see him talk about all these roles. I feel so privileged to have him on my podcast last year. I feel really blessed that he was interested in being a guest. Such a kind and humble guy and I love him so much!
Neil, the love that is out there for Walker is insane. I'd love to hear a whole interview just discussing the character and the behind the scenes stories!
He’s my favorite actor and person for a reason, grabbing whatever opportunity they give him…I’m getting stronger in adulthood thinking about his experiences
Dear Neil, you can be 100% sure that I will never forget you in my life because I am madly in love with Astarion and also with your voice. And, as I turn 60 next year, my love may last a long time 🥰 That's sick that I've already played through the game 6 times, right? 😜
Oooh, silver gamer spotted. 😁 I‘m almost 40, and closing off my fourth playthrough. You’re fiiine. I‘m going full evil rn though, so my Drow is making Astarion feel at home AND suffer at the same time. Ascension is gonna be WILD.
I'm almost 68 and almost at the end of my second playthrough. There will be many more, hopefully! I love all the characters but specially Astarion and THAT voice. ❤
5:46 This role + personality transformation really gave me goosebumps!!!! Neil is really the most talented dubbing and mocap actor I have ever seen. His experience in quickly understanding the role can really serve as a textbook example for young actors to learn oh my god...
I could listen to Neil talking about his work and especially his specific skill sets and methods endlessly. I'm not an actor myself, but I hang on every word he says about all these things. He's so eloquent and the love and passion he has for his work is incredibly inspiring. Everything about it is interesting and fascinating to me and the joy he radiates when speaking about it is infectious. 🖤
Actors like this are the best to work with. That easy engagement, versitility, improv and character connection make sharing scenes with them such a pleasure to do. Neil is such a talent and his charisma skill is maxed out. Love him and his approach to his work 🥰
He's an actual lover of games and a real attentive studier of characters. How he instantly just goes to his Heisenberg mannerisms and voice is incredible.
Your performance as Astarion was brilliant and I am so happy they selected you for the role! I would love to see you play Astarion again, but I will continue to follow your career and see where it takes you! And I am sorry for the loss of your friend.
Neil’s flexibility in his roles and the way he drops into characters is so inspirational! The ability to adapt and broaden your skill tree is something so many artists need for growth. Thank you so much for all your hard work Neil🙏
Duuudee, why did every hand movement make mental and visual sense to me? In a dream alternate universe I would have paid so much money to learn from a teacher like this.
he's such a versatile actor! i hope we get to see him in more projects 🤞🏻 and yes, would definitely love to see him return as Astarion. there's only one Astarion in my mind 🤭
@@eggchompBecause everything gets turned into live action nowadays which often loses the original charm and heart a piece of media had. Not to mention how animation and animators get treated like absolute filth by companies more than ever atm. I believe if Baldur’s Gate got an adaptation like Arcane got, it would take the world by storm
@@mrbusinesss1 I honestly feel like Baldur’s gate could do well in a live action, and I’m usually against live actions lol. I do love arcane, and I don’t doubt it would hold up well in an animation, but I wouldn’t mind either to be honest! I’d just be happy for more BG3 content lol
He quickly picked up on what game was and even considered the possiblity of being Icewind Dale 3 (the forgotten sibling of adnd games). The guy knows his games
Neil is just the most wonderful, skilled and wholesome human bean ever. I love him so much and all the laughs, as well as his craft, he shares with his community
Best VA in BG3, a game already full of exceptional VA’s. Damn I really wish the stars would align for you to play Astarion again, such an incredible performance!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Honestly, Larian should create a game in Avernus to finish out Karlach's story; and that way, Neil could replay Astarion at some point. And also have Wyll, Raphael, and Mizora in it. And Zariel would be the end boss.
This man is so amazing ! Brilliant actor, his voice is a gift he shares with such fun ! And you can say he loves challenges, improv, exchanges... I am definitely not much of a gamer, but I finally happened to play a bit of BG3 and Astarion clearly had me staying. Such a rich character, I can't wait to discover more... And you can feel how much fun he had with him, the passion for his job. We are blessed to have actors, voice actors, transcriptors, translators, writers, a whole team of passionate people like him to create games, books, movies... Don't let AI and the appeal for quick cheap results ruin this. We need awesome humans like him behind our digital heroes !
aww beautiful beautiful man. . .His such an amazing Actor , I really appreciate that he gets to take us on his journey and how things happened in the back ground. . because most of the time celebrities never really say "whats what" you know? Neil is so open and honest that i really admire how he works and what he do. You will not just like him for his looks, you will love his hard work and dedication 🥰
Seeing Neil work with Santa Monica, Insomniac, Naughty Dog or Bethesda would be a dream come true!!! I'm very much looking forward to seeing where Neil's career takes him, cheers mate! 🎉
Neil Newbon came into the industry and nails his roles! Resident Evil 3 Remake was the first game I knew him from and it's incredibly inspiring how he dives into his roles and approaches them. It's incredible how quick his career has grown in the last couple of years and I wish him good fortune in future projects.
Maggie Robertson (who voices Lady Dimitrescu in RE8 and Orin in BG3 alongside Neil, as well as many other roles) actually ALSO voiced apes in Planet of the Apes!
astarion is definitely neil's most iconic character, but my favorite character he voiced is zeon from xenoblade 3, and im sure his voice was a big reason why i liked that character so much
