i feel bad for neil because his performance as hedwig is so amazing and incredible but people are too stubborn to just appreciate his talent and instead always have to say the original is better. im not saying you can't think the original is better, because it very well may be, but damn nph is still crazy talented.

Neil's a great actor (and a great Hedwig), that's for sure, but his voice doesn't have that... punkesque punch that made many fall in love with the musical. While he may have been great live, it's pretty okay here.

Neil has a broadway tenor trained voice and the lyrics can be understood. However, Darren Criss has that favored rock vocal delivery but not his words aren't clearly heard. So pick your poison.

I totally agree. When you have something to compare the original will almost always be considered better. Personally I find something about each that I love for their own reasons. They are interpretations of the same show. You should love them both for different reasons I think.

For Neil to take the huge rick of playing this role alone is amazing in itself, but for him to belt out this number with so much pure passion is just awe inspiring. There needs to be video of him performing this live, it's just so flawless

It's Actually an A-track, and it's a form of music played on a cassette tape. your A-track is a collection your favourite songs, on the other side is the B-track. that's your second favourite songs. while the B-track plays, it automatically rewinds the A-track and vice-versa.

Not going to lie... although I've been a huge Broadway fan since I was little, until Darren Criss was given the role of Hedwig I never really took an interest in this musical. Maybe it's because I'm stubborn as hell when it comes to what I watch... anyway, I've now seen the movie and listened to/watched all the performances of all the Hedwigs, and while my bias obligates me to say Darren is my favourite Hedwig so far, I worship the ground Neil Patrick Harris walks on and he is a close second. I'm looking forward to seeing what Taye Diggs brings to the stage after July 19th when Darren's run finishes! (Also, this is my favourite song. Hands down.)

Angelina Marie I agree wholeheartedly it will always be JCM, its his b.aby, he created and will always be the #1 and anymone else will be second. To me the question how much second are they. It took me 2-3 times and I;m sold on NPH, off a little a couple of times and the part before the singalong seemed a tad off..but that is balanced by the singalong itself personalized and commentary. Overall, I am psyched t see Neil do it some day

I honestly understand why. NPH clearly pronounces when he sings, where usually in rock n roll, you really don't. JCM doesn't pronounce the words and makes us feel them instead. Both are honestly great, JCM gets the edge because he knows rock n roll a bit more the Neil. But Neil's voice is beautiful

This is better. Riverdale often chooses songs or characters to sing that can't be handled by the actors, which tends to let down the few gems in the crowd. How Riverdale sets up their actors to sing songs not meant for their voices or when they don't have trained voices is unfair to the actors

A great version, but a bit too technical for my taste. Sounds too much like a singer from musical theatre trying to adapt to a rock setting. JCM managed to cross that bridge in an incredibly seamless way. Plus his voice has a certain "heaviness" that Neil's lacks.

What is Hedwig? Does she specifically identify as something in the show?

+keysnake123 Actually he's right. Hedwig is not trans. the writer speaks of his sexuality, gender and sex in interviews. While I can see how it is relatable, I think its important to acknowledge truth.
