Where do you get all the music from? Like do you have a rough idea of what you are going for and then surf the internet for it or do you have big archive at your home or some sort of libarary close to you?
Michael Page from what i’ve seen there’s hardly any jungle on NTS, one relatively infrequent show, maybe the odd one-off tune in someone’s set. To really dig for tunes like this, you need to listen to tapes of dj sets at live events and on pirate radio from 93-96. Love of life tapes, dreamscape, kool fm, kiss fm, list goes on. Fabio, grooverider, bukem, mickey finn, etc. many are uploaded on youtube but there are also many blogs who upload old tape rips. By browsing you can learn who played what kind of tunes when and dig into the sets. Then search the name and date of the set and there’s usually a track list on rolldabeatz forum or some other one. You can also dig thru label catalogs to find cutty tracks. Not to mention newer artists like FFF, Tim Reaper, Dead Man’s Chest, Equinox etc dropping vintage bangers in their sets (see distant planet tv and keep hush) But my guess is Ambiance has a nice drum n bass fanatic vinyl and cassette collection resulting from unstoppable passion for this music, simple curiosity or passing interest just won’t get you this far
yep like dilbert said. check out the blog deepinsidetheoldskool, they upload a lot of old tapes and kiss fm sets with tracklists. then use discogs to explore the artists you like, and explore the other artists on the labels that put out their tracks.
