I just bought a Neje Master 2s Plus with the N60460 laser module. Then downgraded it to the Neje 30W module I had on my Ortur Laser Master 2 and use it only for rotary work. The 40W on my Ortur is for engraving and cutting and boy does it cut. I haven't tried anything as thick as the 18mm but I have several sheets of 6mm I want to use for projects. Thanks for the video!

Hello Zakaria Khouni, thank you for your comment. Yes, that is certainly doable, and apart from physically changing the aluminium profile and the belt, then it's all about the firmware. But, the short axis will need to be supported to avoid excessive deflection, also depending on how long you would like it to be you might need the extra motor. Hello MD HABIBULLAH, thank you for your comment. That is an old model, I cannot really tell you whether you will be able to simply plug it in and use it. I am sure that if it is not directly compatible it can be adapted with the adapter board that they provide with the module, where you can provide the power directly to the Laser and connect only the control line to the main board of your machine. For your reference the documentation list the NEJE's machine directly compatible: Master 2, Master 2 Plus, Master 2 Mix, Master 2 Max, Maser 2s and 3 series. Unfortunately in don't know your exact model, therefore I cannot tell you, yes or not but my explanation should help you, bear in mind that laser module works also with other machines from other brands, and even with custom-built machines, therefore you should have absolutely no issue with it. I would like to know where to find the specs of this module. All I can see in the NEJE website is an output of 15W for this model. What I've missed. Or maybe there is a formula for this conversion. Thank you

Unfortunately, there is no formula, as already explained in other comments, the advertised power is the overall absorption of the machine the actual optical power output is much lower like in the case of the Module upgraded in the video. The module number is A40640, and it is a dual diode laser of about 40W but the effective optical power output is 15W which in other words is double the power of the 30W module which instead has an effective optical output power of 7.5W. The two laser modules are very similar in fact, the only difference is the laser compression technology used, so the A40630 has a longer Depth of Field which allow you to cut deeper overall, in addition, you have a smaller focal point which effectively concentrates the same 5.5w power in a smaller area making it more effective or in other words, seems more powerful. Thanks a lot for this great video! I did just like you showed and - at first - it worked like a charm. Then I got an issue with the COM port which I solved. But now the laser beam interrupts or is off completely while the movement still is fine. Might be a hardware problem, Does anyone have any hint?
Hi, Penasch; thank you for your comment. Could you be more specific about the way it interrupts? Does it interrupt while working, if yes have you noticed if it is related to the power? Did you change the power adapter to the 5A one? Last but not least, if none of the above is the problem, try moving all the wiring harnesses one by one while the laser is on, perhaps is a simple false contact. Let me know. Ciao

Hi, @williedog1127; thank you for your comment and belated Happy Birthday :) The next step up to the NEJE A40640 is the new version of the same module, the E40 and the E80. Great video, I've been searching all over but couldn't find much on adding the N60460 laser module to the ortur laser master 2 but I've seen it done so I tried it. Module recently quit working and I found that the old motherboard on the x axis had burned out really badly which was causing it to no longer have power and could have been a huge fire hazard. I've written to support but no answer and was wondering if you might know what I did wrong? I had it grounded per the Ortur advisory but maybe I had a short? My other thought was maybe it wasn't just plug and play and I need to upgrade my power supply since you did that in your video. Long shot but I was hoping you might have a video or advice on how I went wrong and where I could find a suitable power supply. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hello, I saw on one channel a measurement of the optical power of the Neje A40640 40w (which Neje used to call 80 w), and this module produced 8.6 watts of optical power - less than the Atomstask M 50 (with a smaller focus point). Have you measured optical power?

I've ordered the measuring device, therefore I might be able to give an exact number soon, however, I found that the laser that shipped with the Aufero Laser 2, the Module LU2-4-SF, rated at 5W optical power is somewhat more capable than the NEJE A40640, which by the way it was rated at 15W when I bought it, now I saw it recently rated at 10W. It didn't sound right when I bought it since there were around multiple A40640 rated at different powers like 40W (the one I bought), 50W and 80W. Stay tuned for the testing video. Ciao

Is it possible to use the laser head and mother board on a different manufactures chassis? Also does using this head cut down on the taper in the kerf?

You can do that, but you will need to override the driver to let the motherboard know that the size has changed and if different types of stepper motors are used in the other chasse, also if the line motion is of screw-type instead of belt type. I do not think it will be easy, and definitely, Neje desktop app won't let you do that, paraphs you could try with LaserGRBL or LightBurn. I hope it helps Ciao
