You have been a superhero for almost your whole life. But now that season of your life is coming to a close. It is a troubling time for you. It’s not easy to move away from all you’ve ever known. If you were honest with yourself, you were scared.
You walk down the streets of your city, enjoying your final day as a hero when you run straight into a bank robbery hosted by the well-known villain, Dr. Doom. You freeze in the street, wondering whether or not to stop it. Dr. Doom stops in front of you, watching you make your choice.
“I want to defect,” you say, quietly at first, then louder, “I want to be a villain!”
Dr. Doom smiled and passes a slip of paper into your hands. It is the name of a bus station on the outside of town. You turn away from the bank robbery and leave before any of the other heroes could show up.
You sit at that bus station for an hour. It starts to rain. Your mind wanders to all the years you’d spent as a hero, saving the world with your old master and friend. But that is all over now.
You are tired. It is time for someone else to save the world.
It is time for someone to save you.
