Personally I think about "God" in this song not as any specific figure, but more loosely as a metaphorical force. "Back in God's hands" means to me that the love is no longer under our control, and whatever we try to do will not influence it anyhow. Lyric-wise, it sounds like a surrender, but Nelly's powerful voice also gives me a sense of acceptance. The relationship is falling apart and floating away, but there is hope that this is for the best and fate has its own reason. The closure leaves us all bare, regretful and vulnerable, but it's also the beginning of another journey. Nothing we can do about it without realizing that it all is "part of the plan".

When I was little this song always made me think of my dad. he used to be my best friend and suddenly he never had time for me. He worked all the time. these lyrics described those feelings so good. I used to cry to this when I was 12. I'm almost 20 now...

It was around 04:30am...I fell in love with it. It was the last music video of Loose. The end of an era that cemented her into pop star olymp. It's 12 years old now, how time flies. Back as a teenager I didn't find this song and video too special. Now listening to it again it touches me so deeply. Nelly you did that. You may be a smaller celebrity by now but no one will ever forget what you did with this album.

I remember listening to this when I was just a kid, about 11 or 12. I recall always watching the video on vh1s top music videos but I never really understood its meaning. Now that I'm older, 18, this song's lyrics mean so much to me and I finally understand it. It's soothing to listen to after you lose someone you love. Beautiful song. my fave song of nelly's, i listened this six years ago, when i was 14 and my dad died day to day. Then when i was without any hope, without my the best friend and authority, this song gave my so strength to fight with my sorrow, grief and depression. Thank you Nelly that in the darkest moments in my life you gave my a spark of brightness. Your music recovered my soul.

English version is nice, but this song in Spanish is BEAUTIFUL. I think there are songs not meant to be done in other languages. Another example is "Fuerte" feat Concha Buika, the English version is kind of mediocre, but in Spanish is pure gold! Nelly's vocals anyways, will never let anyone down! ❤️

This song reminds me of my ex, my soulmate. He overdosed in 2012.I was with him, I'm the one that found him. I had fell asleep but when I woke up, it was too late... He had already passed away!!! At the time this happened, we weren't together. We both were dating someone else but always knew we still loved eachother. I felt it was my fault he died. Sincerely never going to ever forget him. I loved this song as kid, 27 now, but I could never understand the pain in her voice when she sung until I just recently went through a breakup after being with her for 5 years...every time I hear the end verse i nearly break down crying. I remember I listened to this song a lot when one of my fur babies just „ disappeared“ when I moved in where I live now. I found his brother when he disappeared right after him in another place far away from here, but I never found him again. I remember it really felt as if I lost my „baby“ and for some reason it was so brutal to just don’t know what happened to him, how he disappeared... I didn’t know when to stop searching for him or his brother. I found his brother 10 months after he disappeared, so it’s better to never loose hope. But for some reason I knew that his brother would be ok, cause he was much braver than he was. He wasn’t scared of so many things including people, so I knew he „would ask for help“. So I somehow knew that he went „back in God’s hands“ when I couldn’t find him. It was probably the worst time of my life. And now, after his brother just disappeared and reappeared three times in his life, he was found dead this time and I lost another baby, because he got killed. If a fur baby is sick and you loose it, you can eventually live with it, but when you know they were both so full of life and in good physical condition when they „went away“, it’s so hard for you to live with that... It‘s like somebody murdered or kidnapped your baby. But I hope God is taking good care of them now and that they are together again in heaven now. They didn’t deserve this and they were brothers, but they were completely different characters! It‘s true when you say that every pet has its own personality and is greatly missed when „not here“ anymore... That’s why I really love this song. It has helped me with grieving. I‘m so sorry that I couldn’t protect you from the evilness of the people that took you away so many times. I tried so hard to protect you and watch over you like a mom should, but I failed and that is the hardest thing to face...
