@@killinglonliness88 I loved I’m Like A Bird! Admittedly, I only really listened to work she did from like 2006-2008. I need to check out more of her older songs. Anything newer from her I also haven’t listened to. I’d give it a chance though.
SHe is a queen, keeping up with times the way Madonna and Cher did but her and Dido are very very extremely underrated oh man I would love to hear Javon do a Dido review!!!!
Dido Review:The best that shows off her voice is between two songs one is a break up song that is the most brutal breakup song I’ve ever heard in my life called “see you when you’re 40“ and she is the most upbeat happy get out of bed after a loved one has died beautiful song called “See the Sun” At this point in your career you would know her singles so now you really have to start digging at some of the songs from these artists especially Chris Cornell and look for the ones that weren’t singles because we can all agree that sometimes those aren’t the best on the album but it’s what made you buy it in the first place back in the day when you had to buy the CD ha ha Dido!
See you when you’re 40 by Dido, the ultimate stick it to you break up song. And then the live version from the same show of a song called see the sun. It doesn’t matter what you’re dealing with you hear that song and it makes everything all better even just for three minutes. Sending love Javon I even turn my husband onto Dido who is currently in five bands none of them include any genre near what this is. But he said hell yeah absolutely tell Javon about Tite. Now we’re battling back-and-forth as if you actually whether or not you read these !
@@heatherspence3848 Yes! I love Dido as well. Anything from her first to albums. I personally like Sand in my Shoes. Unfortunately, I'm not as familiar with her stuff after the Life for Rent album.
Nelly Furtado is an artist who has literally spanned one genre to another. Her first album launched the song “I’m Like A Bird” which has a very 90s college radio feel to it. Then she dipped off for a minute, worked w/Tim and this sound was brought out. My favorite song of hers is “Give It To Me” w/Justin Timberlake. Another Timberland produced song w/a beat that keeps you moving.
@@joshuafult84 it’s kind of a pop-rock-w/an Indie music hint. Artists like Gin Blossoms, Better Than Ezra, The Meices, REM, Crowded House, Fiona Apple, Weezer, Sheryl Crow, Oasis, Natalie Imbruglia, Smashing Pumpkins. Bands like that. Hope I explained it enough for you to understand me, 😊😊😊
Apparently, I heard Tik Tok made the song popular again. I went to the comment sections of the official music video back in 2020 sometime and was seeing all these comments like "here because of Tik Tok" or "I'm here before everyone from Tik Tok comments 'I'm here because of Tik Tok'" or "Who listened to this song/heard of it before Tik Tok?" The list goes on. So I'm guessing sometime in 2019 or 2020 Tik Tok made it popular/trending again. Of course, I was in high school when it came out, so I'm one of those that got to hear the song when it was originally released and in its prime on the radio.
Timbaland... heck yeah... he started out with Missy and Magoo... Check out their history with Jodeci... It's some crazy stuff...Timbaland is very versatile and I love Nelly...I wonder if she would bless us with a comeback.
Glad to see appreciation for Canadian Artists. We do have many talented people that don’t get recognition or aren’t acknowledged as Canadians! And as a immigrant to Canada I couldn’t be prouder of these artists!
Nelly is utterly gorgeous in this video. There's a fun flirty feel to her and Timbaland's exchanges and its still an absolute banger - the man made beats that sounded future in the 2000's and they're still pristine today
The songs back in the day 2000s were so much fun! They used to constantly play this in the club. Imagine that! We don’t really have these kinds of songs anymore Aww I miss that.
Portuguese Canadian she is a fav. of mine Canadian artist get a special place in my music heart. But you have to go back toward the beginning of her career with her songs "I'm like a bird", "Turn off the light" or "Song on the radio".
I was in the club dancing when this song came out and you’re definitely right! It has an insanely fun dance beat and everyone used to run to the dance floor when that first beat dropped!
Bro you gotta hear Tmbaland and Magoo’s gong “Luv to Luv”. That’s Timbaland’s first hit. You’ll love it. Also check out his song “The way I are”. Trust me u’ll love those songs
I really like that you appreciate how well a person's singing voice is. A song definitely isn't just about the beat. I don't think this song showcases Nelly's voice as much as some others. Her debut single, I'm Like A Bird, which received a lot of airplay and awards, and her follow-up Turn Off The Light both show more range with her voice.
Nelly Furtado is an incredible artist! she made his debut mixing Pop and Folk Music, took the turn towards hip-hop with this album, then turned to Latin music with a Spanish language album, to return to high quality electro / pop. After watching this video, I suggest you watch the official "Try" video to understand how versatile this girl is.
I love Nelly and Timbaland! This was huge when it came out. That song was it everywhere! Nelly is versatile. The first song I heard from her was “I’m Like A Bird”. I loved “Say It Right” and “Turn Off The Light”. But besides Promiscuous my absolute favorite is “Fotografía” a duet in Spanish with Juanes. Not only can she sing in Spanish but I believe she does in Portuguese as well. Thank you Jovaughn for the reaction . I haven’t heard this song for awhile but it’s literally one of the best songs to dance to!
I remember the local Pop/Today's Hits station in my town played it ALL THE TIME during Summer 2006. There really was no escaping it. I was still in high school though (I think it was the summer between my junior and senior year of high school), so I'm not sure what it was like at clubs/bars. I'm going to say it was pretty big.
@@projectpat8807 Yeah I was similar to you. They played it constantly on the radio except at the time I was in Middle School. I would be going into 8th grade after that summer of 06.
Timbaland is a Renaissance man & can do just about anything 😀 this song was freaking huge in 2006. Every time I hear it I think of Rota Spain. I was living there for work and this song was on constant rotation 💕 Say It Right & Maneater…. Girl was a hit maker that year.
Wow, I'd forgotten all about Nelly Furtado!!! What an amazing artist!!! I've actually never heard this song and it's not a typical song of hers I think. You really have to react to her song Try to get her full vocal range and what she can do as a singer. I also love her duet with James Morrison, Broken Wings. Others from her that I love are Turn Out The Light, Maneater, and I think her first hit She's Like A Bird. Thanks for reintroducing her to me!!! I think she's Canadian-Portuguese if I remember right. Beautiful singer, beautiful woman, those eyes and that voice, what a combination!!!
I know it's probably unfair to compare to another Canadian singer, but I hear a lot of Alannis Morrissette in her style, with some Latino passion added to the mix. Is this just me?
The collab with Timbaland definitely made this song more edgy and hot. This definitely was the jam back in the day, and the video still holds up despite the flip phones! 😂😂😂
Lol I had this as my ring tone way back when I loved the song so much. Only problem was if it rang at work I had to jump on my phone so my boss wouldn't hear it! 😳🤣
The Best part is they became really good friends and produced quite a few songs together. He also pulled her into a few other hits of his sometimes in the back ground vocals. You can see the chemistry they have as a friendship
I remember this song was a big summer hit in 2006. Timbaland was the HIT maker, everyone wanted to work with him and he produced one of the best pop record of all time with Justin Timberlake in that same year. Also his work with the late rnb princess Aaliyah was superb! So ahead of his time.
Timbaland ruled the early 2000s….he, Nelly & Justin Timberlake were the trifecta. They were everywhere and it was hot. Check out any track off of Shock Value, you won’t be disappointed. JT’s Sexy Back, Nelly Furtado’s ManEater or Say It Right. So much great music. Makes me realize I miss Timbaland.
Hey Javon, did you notice Justin Timberlake making a cameo in a few of the clips near the end of the song ? Listen to Say It Right. Got a great beat as well.
If you want to get to know Nelly as an artist you need to check I'M LIKE A BIRD, TURN OFF THE LIGHT and SAY IT RIGHT. Oh, I was forgetting MANEATER and ALL GOOD THINGS!
The extremely talented Ms. Furtado and I went to the same High school. I just went there around 20 years before her. It's one of those weird things where you feel proud of someone that doesn't even know you exist!
Listen to "All good Things (Come To An End)". The single featured Chris Martin, frontman of the band Coldplay, harmonizing throughout the song. The original version had him say a few words at the beginning, and sing the chorus behind Furtado.
Damn it I miss Nelly furtado. This woman was h back when I was in middle school. Idk what happened to her over years. She's retired now but man her music was something else
Nelly is brilliant. I've loved her since I'm Like A Bird and have all her albums. She's very versatile and has done varying styles. I hope you listen to more of her.)
Turn Off The Light by Nelly Furtado will always be a fave of mine. But I can't believe I went through so many comments and no one mentioned that this wasn't the first time Nelly and Timbaland worked together. You should check out, Ching Ching by Ms. Jade featuring Nelly & Timbaland.
4 Minutes - Madonna, Justin Timberlake & Timberland 👌🏼 But yeah this song makes you wanna move!!! Also check out Aaliyah and Timberland Are You That Somebody.
Checkout Timbaland and Magoo "Luv to Luv Ya' and "Up Jumps da Boogie" for more of his bars, the second song if you wanna see the whole squad at least making an appearance.
Woooo! This song Will forever remind me I’m driving from South Florida to Arizona and a bright red two-seater five speed manual convertible in my cowgirl hat and a pair of high heels with the top down. The straw hat blew off my head and I pulled over and ran down the interstate in my high heels to go get my hat because my stepdad gave it to me 10 years prior and this was probably 10 years ago lol I was running down the interstate in heelsAnd truck drivers were honking and blowing their horn’s, I remember when I got back into the car with my hat that this is still playing and I still had 1400 miles to go
Thank you for bringing a fond memory back to me. Every time I put that hat on I think about that time early 20s carefree and traveling the world and now here I am 37 married with lots of dogs to a musician that has the attention span of a handy wipes. It’s an exciting life.
Man you got good vibes, you not doing all that extra shi other reaction people do, I'm just bopping with you and u so wholesome it just puts a smile on my face, just subscribed man, good stuff
Every time I see Timberland, I laugh. I was working for Sprint during college and I fixed his managers account (got his phone working). The guy was SO happy I fixed it, he offered me VIP tickets. I then told him I had no idea who Timberland was, he was completely shocked. I said I'm sorry, I don't know who Timberland is, I listen to Slayer. He immediately goes oooo, you're one of THOSE. Right after the call, I told the girl next to me, I"m like...who is Timberland? she begins telling me all about him. I go, I just talked to his manager, she FREAKED out and couldn't believe how I shot him down for free tix.
If you want to hear her in a totally different style check out 'I'm like a bird' from 2001, I believe it was one of her break out hits. It was played a ton on the radio back then.
I was such a late Nelly Furtado fan, I hated I'm Like Bird when it was released and the radio killed it. MANY years later when I met my husband he played the whole album and I loved it. Many of her songs are scattered through my playlists. It's a MUST for any party playlist that my cousin in-laws are attending. They stop what they're doing and groove together. 🤣
