I am a member of a FB page that is all about 90's stuff a fellow member who owns one posted about it in the page yesterday this would be awesome to have they have tons of them on e-bay
I’ve just bought one of these watches but sadly it’s not working properly. It randomly crashes and dies. Is it normal that if you press all the buttons it resets the watch (including time) or is that a symptom of a fault?
I just tried pressing all the buttons on both of my Star Fox watches and neither reset so I would guess it is a fault. Admittedly a lame suggestion and equivalent to telling someone to restart their computer but if you just bought it and if it came with a battery then try replacing it. Sometimes when the battery is low it seems fine just telling time but when it tries to play it will act funky, particularly if playing with sound since that adds to the power draw. If changing the battery doesn't help then you can try opening it up and looking for signs of previous battery corrosion. If there is you can try VERY CAREFULLY rubbing it off with cotton swabs that have been moistened with vinegar. While I haven't had to try this with any of my game watches the Panzer Dragoon Pocket Arcade that I show in another video didn't function when I first received it because of battery corrosion but after cleaning out the inside with the above method I got it working again. If the corrosion is very bad though the traces of the circuitry might break when cleaning, then unless you or someone you know is capable of soldering tiny wires it is a lost cause. That said as far as the soldering, I wasn't being glib I have seen a couple videos (years ago so I can't point to them now as I only remember the content not the source) where a game watch was made functional again this way.
@@SumSquareStory many thanks for checking. I took it apart and gave it another round of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton wall swab that lifted off some acid residue under the white sticker located in the battery compartment. Fingers crossed it stays functional.
I have the style on the left at the beginning of the video, everything works but the sound is very faint or completely inaudible from the watch itself. Headphones work just fine, fresh battery, took it apart and it seems like the speaker is some kind of piezo buzzer built into the back panel of the watch?
@@480JD Yes, all the game watches that I know of just used a simple piezo buzzer. I find they usually are loud as long as the battery isn't dying so something isn't making a proper connection. I don't have any suggests unfortunately.
