And then, there are those who have to think about it for a long time and start to ponder. Nemo: I think you would agree with me if I said that I make many gut decisions. Don't you? Dodo: Yes, you are very much ‘the gut type’. And you've had to make a lot of decisions. Nemo: Yes, that's true. Dodo: Well, you just have a lot of ideas. Nemo: Yes, I have a lot of ideas and I decide very quickly in favor of one. But I also don't have any problems changing my mind. Dodo: I also think that's what makes you so special. That you're super relaxed with all your ideas. They are there. If it's not the right one, then the next one is already waiting. Or the next ten. (To the public) It's really cool when you work with Nemo in the studio. You plan the production of a song, and you can be sure that you'll leave the studio with three songs at the end of the day. And then you've already forgotten the first one. It was a huge hit, the first one. But the second and third were even bigger hits. Nemo: And how do you decide? Dodo: Erm... You have a thousand ideas and you want to realise them all. And if you can't do that with one producer, you’ll do it with ten. But that's the biggest difference between you and me. But how do you think people see you from the outside? What type of decision-maker do they think you are? Nemo: I have the feeling that we talk about everything in great detail in my team. I have to back up my decisions very well with arguments. But sometimes I'm also good at rhetoric. Sometimes I come up with good arguments. For something or against. But I think I can convince people quite well. But I might very well say the next day that I changed my mind. Maybe that's why others think I'm a bit impulsive. Dodo: Just a little. Nemo: A little bit (laughs). I don't know, YOU worked with me! Dodo: I think you've reflected yourself very well. Applause for Nemo. Applause Dodo: That really is one of your greatest strengths, that you can do that so well. And that's also how you approach people. But you're very persuasive. When you're convinced. Maybe an example: about a month ago, we (Dodo's band) came back to the studio from a concert. Nemo was sitting on the studio sofa. At three o'clock in the night. And I look at them and ask: What are you doing? And Nemo: Listen, this beat is so good. I have to finish it. Listen, Dodo. Listen to it. And Nemo started singing. And I had to say: Nemo. I can't. I'm too tired. I have to go to sleep now. You can sing now, but I can't do it any more. And that's so great about you. That you have so much energy and so much passion. Nemo: Thank you, thank you. Dodo: That wasn't a question. Nemo: What should I say to that? Dodo: Looking at you… yes, people could say you're lucky. But I want to tell you that you're not just a lucky person. You are a person who creates opportunities and has the courage to seize them. It has a lot to do with hard work and less to do with luck. Do you think of yourself as brave? Nemo: Mmh... Yes. I would say so. I do many things that require courage. But if I know that I like doing something, that I can stand behind it, then it doesn't take that much courage for me. Do you know what I mean? If I'm convinced and enjoy it, then it's the easiest thing in the world to put it out there. But other people might see it as brave for me to jump around on a stage. Or that I'm doing the matrix move on a huge turntable. Do you know what I mean? Dodo: That really amazes me. You know, millions of people are watching you. For me, that really takes courage, the moment you realize: now I'm about to go out there! Nemo: Well, yes. But to be honest, I was also a bit lucky. Many people asked me afterwards how I did it. They asked if I had magnets in my shoes. Only then, did I realize that it would have been a mega good idea and then I went to the director, Benke, and told him: Hey, why didn't we think of that ourselves? It would have been so much better. But luckily everything worked out. We just thought: If I fall off, then it just happens. Then, it's part of the show. But I had to be able to surrender to the moment every time and overcome the fear. Dodo: But that's not what I'm talking about. I trust you to do that, it's acrobatic and you've practiced it. But the moment of: I'm going out on stage. Now! Nemo: I've often thought to myself: Hey, why didn't you choose a simpler staging? It was always clear that the first 30 seconds are easy and from then on, a lot can go wrong. And I think that's why I felt a lot of pressure. But this pressure also forced me to let go. Even if something goes wrong, you can use it. That gave me the courage. (Maybe it's not clear in the translation. In Swiss German Nemo says in between the lines: Falling down would have been OK. It would have been part of the message: If you put yourself out, you fall or fail. Then you stand up and continue or try again.) Dodo: I can... No. I would have shat my pants. I can understand it a bit. I know the feeling. I've had it at the Gurtenfestival, for example. It's a nice feeling and we get a bit addicted to it. When you're an artist, you want that thrill, that nervousness. But when you have to sing a perfect pitch and do a circus act to go with it - that was pretty incredible. You have my utmost respect. The fact that you have this courage also makes you a role model for many people. And I don't know if you realize that. That the courage you show also makes it easier for many people to make decisions. They then think to themselves: Nemo did it too. Nemo: Yes, of course I've noticed that in the last few months. People have told me that. How much courage a person who can stand up on stage and tell their own story can give them. These are those people who are going through something similar or have a similar story. They can identify with my story and then they can suddenly explain it better to their friends or family members. That's when I realized that it's a huge privilege to be one of these role models. We are now generally in a time where there are great queer role models all over the world. It's easier as a young person growing up now. I don't think there have ever been as many openly queer people as there are now. Never before have there been so many role models. At the same time, we're still at a point where so many people haven't understood what it's all about. Many people are not yet kind enough to each other. It's mega hard to take place on these two levels. But basically, I think it's really nice to be a role model for others. A person that young people in particular can look up to. Especially because I didn't have that as a child. That's mega nice. Applause

Translation Part 3 (10:50) Dodo: Nemo. What can we expect? When is the new song coming out? Nemo: I already said it at the concert. It's coming next Friday out. It's called Eurostar... Wooh... Eurostar. And it's... I won't say too much about it. Because I read in a book about good marketing that you shouldn't give too much away (laughs). But I will say one thing: before the ESC, I already had a lot of songs. You know me, I always have a lot of demos. And when the label asked which song we should release next, I realized after listening to all of them, that I needed something that was actual. Something that is “in the now”. I think it's great that The Code is retrospective. That I'm telling my story. But I wanted something that felt like the present. Then I went into the studio with Liam in July and we made Eurostar. Then everything happened very quickly and now it's only a week away. I'm enjoying the song so much and I hope people out there feel the same way. There will be a lot of extra things happening around the song. I'm super excited and also a bit nervous. Dodo: And then you're also going on tour. Can you give us a little insight into that? Nemo: Well, yes. There are a few shows in Switzerland this autumn. Next year in March I'm going on tour in Europe. That's crazy. And it's mega nice. I'm working on my first album now. That's incredible for me. Then I moved to London four weeks ago. I'm very happy that the European tour is now within reach and that I'm in “album mode”. That I can write, make new songs and then perform them in 25 cities... no, countries. Dodo: Countries. And how many continents? Nemo: One. It's a European tour. Dodo: OK, OK. I'll come to Japan then. Let's go 50 years into the future. You have grandchildren and you look back on your time in Malmö. What do you think you will still remember? Nemo: Oh, I think my grandchildren are in for a boring slide show. I tell them every detail about every photo of every person who was there. What country they were from, what their name is, what we talked about. But who knows, maybe they're in the mood for that too. No, I think what will stay with me - and I've already felt this over the last few months - are the friendships I've been able to build. I think these will be in my life for a long time to come. I have also been able to build up my self-confidence and trust in myself as an artist. It's difficult to go out from Switzerland with English music. We all know that and few have dared to do so. The cards are stacked against us. It's not an obvious path and I think the whole thing has given me, but also Switzerland as a country with many great creative people, self-confidence. And I think that makes me happy and I will still be yapping about it with my grandchildren. And I'm sure they'll get bored. Dodo: Ladies and gentlemen and everyone in between.
