Nemo is great service. So is BA. I loved that tent. Sad I sent back but needed to fit in bag. Loved vestibule, short poles & stealth.

I figured out how to get all 3 grommets to fit on the pole ends. you have to put the tent grommets with rounded dish up and then put floor grommet on then you have to put the floor grommet with the rounded dish facing down. Top and bottom opposite like gives enough room to get all to hook on. Sorry hard for me to explain but they can all fit on pole end.

Great honest review! Sorry to hear you had trouble with both rainfly's that's a bummer! The worry i have always had with the dragonfly tents is the rainfly at the head end doesn't cover the entire tent body! I get that their trying to save weight but have read many reviews where the tent wet through in the head end where the rainfly does not cover. Their is a guy out point right there which is a must but tent body is still somewhat exposed. Love the gear closet idea for the vestibule. This tent also packs super small, that for me is a huge plus! These ultralight tents do require extra care when out on trail! A ground sheet is also a must have imo. Saves on the life of the tent and also helps with cold ground convection. Thanks! Hike on!

Thanks! I was worried too about the rain getting into the tent, but didn't have any issues yet. I also sleep w/ an EXPED Downmat so R value is over 7 so never really have issues w/ cold ground.

Very detailed review of the tent. It was a very important point on the pole to ground sheet and fly grommets to make an adequate connection. In spite of bringing up that problem with Nemo it was not adequately solved so you elected to not taking the footprint. I myself appreciate footprints to save wear and tear on main tent floor and also they prove an added flood protection during exceptional rain events. I have had one Nemo design tent that is discontinued now. It was a single wall 1p , air bladder style “pole” which you pumped up. Needless to say it proved an abject failure in multiple reasons so I returned it to them listing the failures and I did not expect or get a refund. I still reservations on how the outer fly is shortened on one end which during a heavy driving rain could get wet inside as there is only the main tent body now preventing moisture from coming in.
@GIRLplusDOGAdventures
@GIRLplusDOGAdventures 2 года назад
Thanks Donald. Since the footprint also added more weight to my pack, I felt it was one of the things I could cut weight on since I knew I would be in the CO dry season, I decided to take the risk. For sure, I would take some sort of ground sheet in the spring or fall because of the reason you mentioned above.

I often add a bit of that thin black insulation foam under right where I go in & shove it under the tent body, so it protects the floor where I operate mostly, adds a bit more R-Value under pad & hang it out a bit so my knees hit it & a sit pad.

FYI, I haven't been able to get a Nemo footprint. So I purchased a Northface brand 2 person tent and it worked perfectly. The stacking of the grommets were better than what you showed on your video. Even though the Northface says it's a inch shorter the grommets were a perfect fit when it came to the length and width.

@@GIRLplusDOGAdventures expeditions which is my situation and the yellow label three season is not heavy. Cost twice as much but offers safety. My wife and I have used this tent maybe 15 nights across Iceland and Germany. Thank you for some of your insights. My major complaint is the condensation. It's bad and I find I can't even use the daisy chains to dry my stuff. The inside of the rainfly has so much condensation it prevents my items from getting dry. I also would like to point out that in the rain it is very hard to enter the tent without quite a bit of water entering the tent. When you open the rainfly to get in, the rain drips right into the tent and onto my sleep system.
@GIRLplusDOGAdventures
@GIRLplusDOGAdventures Год назад
Hi Stephen- I definitely can see condensation being an issue especially with 2 people in the tent. That was one of my big worries, but in Colorado it's generally pretty dry so I didn't have deal with it all the time. I'm also pretty short so I might not have the same problem w/ the rain fly dripping when I get in/out because I don't have to open it too far to get out.

Really appreciate your comments and follow-up from your initial review video. I’m currently trying to decide between Nemo Dragonfly, BA Copper Spur and STS Telos TR2. Like a lot of the Telos features, but no bike pack version yet. Was worried about rain entry with that shorter/higher fly on the Dragonfly, but sounds like you didn’t have issues with that at all.

Hi @ole Gunnar Sveen. The bike pack version also has the gate keeper clips, daisy chains for hanging clothes, and landing zone. And if you don’t care about the length of poles, the regular version will be fine. I loved the shorter folding poles and color of the bike pack version.

Hi Adriano- yes it is! You will need footprint though to hold the poles in place. With the Jake’s foot attachment, you can leave the attachment on the footprint instead on the inner tent. Then to do a fast-fly set up, you will just insert the poles and throw over the rain fly.

I can't decide between the Nemo Dragonfly 2p bike pack tent and the Big Agnes Copper Spur 2p bike pack tent. I am leaning towards the Nemo. I think I am concerned about condensation, but I am not sure to what degree. Any advice? Thanks!
@GIRLplusDOGAdventures
@GIRLplusDOGAdventures 2 года назад
Where are you taking the tent and would you take it out year round? Although there is more likelihood of condensation on the NEMO because of the higher bathtub floors, it also helps for the wind protection. Also, Remy probably contributed a lot to the condensation I experienced with his breathing.

@@vslifeofcycles5415 Strangely enough when I was camping right next a lake on the CT, I didn't have condensation. It was always just completely random. The reason why I do love the Dragonfly vs the Copper Spur is the floor space and storage locations. It was just right for me. If you're looking for the feel of more volumetric space and are using it just for yourself the CS might be the better option. The only watch out on the CS is the Tiplock buckles w/ the mud/sand. It definitely gets stuck in there so make sure to bring something to dig it out. Luckily I had a bobbi pin on me.

@@GIRLplusDOGAdventures I remembered two other things. You mentioned that the CS did better with wind. Was it a lot better, or only a little bit. I don't plan to camp in high winds, but you never know. The other thing with the Nemo is the side that doesn't allow tensioning. Was that a deal breaker in the rain? I'm not super experienced with tents that have adjustable tension. Thanks again!
