I am a Sea To Summit fan; they are from my hometown, but I have owned the Ether light XT for 3 years. It feels like a beautiful cloud, but it now has a slow leak. I have discovered that this is a common issue with around 30 sleeps which is nothing. When I contacted Sea To Summit and the store, they refunded me without any questions. I have heard some people who love the pad are on their fourth replacement due to the same issue. You can do your own research, you will see for yourself.
The Tensor is more comfortable but it’s made of tissue paper. The Etherlite is comfortable but more balloony and it’s made of a durable material. The better comparison would have been the Etherlite XT wide rectangle
The StS etherlight xt insulated have serious issues. They start leaking unprovoked in the middle of the night. Leakage occurs in the air springs dimple holes. So, Don Buy ! I hate waking up on the ground at 4 in the night. Happend five times now. Mine is now going into the plastics recykling bin.
Thanks for a another great video 🙂 How come you say both in this video and in several of your other videos that the R-value scale goes from 0-6... Just to let you know, It goes higher than 6, and to give you some examples the Therm-A-Rest Neoair XTherm has an R-value of 6,9 and the Exped DownMat 9 has an R-value of 8 and are useable down to minus 40 degrees celcius and thats equal to minus 40 degrees fahrenheit.
6 is only the XT extreme Version which is Black Color , more bulky and Heavier . Its their Winter Pad from S2S . The Etherlight XT INSULATED has an R Value of 3.2
Btw you can fit the S2S Aeros pillow inside the end of the Etherlite stuff sack for packing. Saves a little room in the pack and you can ditch the little stupid pillow stuff sack.
The “pillow lock” system is pretty aggravating tbh. I ended up going with only one of the four “stickers” - it does the job but without the crazy noise and stickiness. Sometimes you just wanna move the pillow around. The full pillow lock system is overkill.
A whirlwind? No; it’s Bernoulli’s principle. Because the blown air is moving faster you create a low pressure zone that the air around it flows toward in the bag.
I really wanted to get the Sea to Summit, but was worried about the rubbery balloon type noise it makes. I heard it a few times in your review and also read some reviews where people complained about the noise. In your experience was it that bad?
I honestly had no issues. The microphone is picking them up far louder than they are irl. I toss and turn, and there was a little bit of noise but nothing major - however, if you put something between the pad and the tent floor (I use a 3mm / 1/8inch foam mat I also use as my sit mat) it eliminates most of the noise :)
I know this is an old question…I have both too and find that the StS is a lot louder compared to the Nemo. I sleep with a quilt during summer trips and find that makes the mattress a lot louder. It does tend to quiet down a tad more with a bag where your skin is not in direct contact. The Nemo def is more fragile though and just had my first leak 😢
You definitely need to be careful. Using a good ground sheet, and checking the terrain to make sure there aren't any sharp objects, can help a long way.
@@TheAdventureJunkies trust me you can be as careful as Mary Poppins with a new infant but nothing is going to save the Nemo Tensor on a multi day desert trip.
@@TheAdventureJunkies but were you able to inflate them while inside a tent? If it's raining hard you don't want to inflate it outside surely, or if hiking in A snowstorm?
I always blow up my NeoAir Xlite using the pump sack inside my Big Agnes Copper spur tent. No problem. I could imagine if you use a tent with very limited head room or head space, that it could be a bit difficult, but probably still doable.
