im an american. Sonoma County! 45 minutes north of san francisco...i became enamored by some German and endeavored myself to learn it, complete with accent. i think German is a beautiful and expressive language. im glad ive learned it.

Very true. Although, the writers were obviously concerned with whether the English version would rhyme. That is why it rhymes no matter which language it is in - despite the similarity between English and German (English is a largely Germanic language, dating back to the overthrow of the celtic by the Saxons) which led to the Norman's overthrowing the Saxons and installing a short-lived, French, 'official' language as the language of the goverment. This is why English, which was historically a Celtics language with further foreign influences, has so many similarities to so many languages; even languages that bare little similarity in their etymology. If people didn't know, France and Germany were both part of the same kingdom (Frankish kingdom). This, however, did not remain the norm; the Frankish kingdom developed in an area that was largely 'Roman' or 'Latin', but Germany proper was never actually conquered. This is the reason French and German are so different linguistically and culturally. The kings of both kingdoms were sons of 'Charlemaine'. Originally, both kingdoms spoke a diluted version of Latin and eventually, French. Over time, this divide led to major culturally boundaries that were established between the two countries; the king of Frankia, and the king of Germania - despite having a father in common - adapted and adopted the aspects of their respective kingdoms. So, the languages between these areas is drastically different than other countries that did not get conquered or heavily influenced by the Roman empire, such as Russia and other 'Russo' or 'Baltic' states. They were far enough removed from the Latin equation that the languages display stark and obvious differences. In fact, the origins of Russia actually has roots in several different cultures, including native Baltic, Nordic Russic, Latin and Greek. At least, this was before a certain 'missionary' suggested the use of the 'Cyrillic' alphabet. This divide has only deepened, leading to an angry an isolated Russia that has misplaced the world's inherent distrust of the country - or rather, the country's past - as 'Russo-phobia' while also ignoring the damage done by the precedent, the Soviet Union.
