I have a ton of books that have been collecting dust for about three years, and a new set of 30 Neos that have never been used. This background sparked an interest in pulling things out again and having a go. Tfs
NEO ll pastels are AWESOME!! I have the small set, like what you started with and I LOVE them! That big set is on my holiday wish list... actually, it' s been on my wish list for a while. Yes, they are expensive. But, they are worth every penny!! THANK YOU for the video. I love the back ground you created! It is beautiful!
Color me Autumn with Zest (soulds better than green with envy.. LOL)... is there anything as beautiful as a brand new set of 84 Neo's.. LOL. Well, probably Yes, but I can't think of what it would be right now as I'm dazzled by how wonderfully you handle them. Looking forward to watching you work with these some more Karen. Thank you for sharing your techniques with all of us.
Love it! Never seen the finger tapping technique but it worked great and I will definitely try it. I like the way it blends the colors out better than just using the brush.
You have convinced me to try harder with my Neocolor II's in colouring books! Maybe I had forgotten the versatility of our most important but underrated colouring tool; the humble finger! I have used it with great success for getting natural smudgy effects in acrylic paint, & you have just shown it is similarly useful with wax crayon! Plus, yes, I should have guessed, the distress ink! You have achieved a wonderful finish Karen; love it.
Hello! I love this collection you have. Just gorgeous. I got the set of 15 about a week ago and used them for the first time tonight. I have no experience with this medium or really any medium. I was told this would be a good start into art journaling. With these being pretty expensive I worry my lack of experience won’t do them justice and I may waste them. But I’m going to try to keep working with them a little at a time. Art supplies can be so intimidating! 😳😂
Good for you Karen, will look forward to seeing you using these. I have, 40 set, the autumn and bright set, now buying singles, love these but need to practice more thank you for showing your techniques beautiful work as always.😍
Congrats on getting these for your self. I have been wanting these for a long time. I'm going to get my self a birthday gift. It's either the 15 set of the Neo ll or a 10 set of Pan Pastels. I am having trouble deciding. I want them both so much. But you know how it is, I have to control my self a bit & only get one for now. LOL TYFS
I’m excited about these backgrounds. I have a set of Neo II’s. They’re fun to work with. Thank you for sharing this! (I have taught medical terminology, here’s a helpful hint I’d use for my students for difficult words: although not a medical word: Alizarin = “a lizard in” without the “d”!)
I had been struggling with what new medium I should buy to start learning my background techniques and was on the edge about these but you just convinced me to buy them. You do such beautiful work and have great talent, I'm so envious. Hopefully one day I will be there.
Curious instead of using your finger to dab and blot as you mix with the water brush, what about using something like a makeup wedge sponge? It’s not sure if there’s any chemicals in the Neocolor is that shouldn’t be observing into your skin so maybe it’s not best to use a finger.
Love this background will definitely try this technique on my next picture. So happy you treated yourself to the larger set of neocolor II you deserve it. I hsve a set of neocolor II and haven't been brave enough to use them. I just know you are going to do some incredible pictures with them, Take care and hope you have a good weekend
You have such talent that you deserve to splurge on art supplies. I am jealous but only minor. Earlier in the year I invested in the 15 pack. Just like you, a good start. For more colours I am trying out the large set of those made by Sargent Art. I just love watching your channel. Thought you should know.
I am so excited for you!!! I only have a 40 set but I've decided I have enough books for now so I've made a list every single Neo you can own lol there is 126 and each month I'm going to buy 20 of them and a few different stickles and build my collection up
I have to stop looking at this....I want them but I hate putting water on my coloring pages, how very nonsensical is that? You are making me so envious with your purchase, yet I am unsure of the outcome I would be able to get with them. I am no where near your competence....I love they way you introduce them and the giggles you have because you don’t take yourself seriously......even though you are a PRO! Congrats to you always! I love everything you do.
When I color I am using what I have on my desk around me, I don't store napkins or paper products on my desk, but I do have art rags so thats what I grab...
This one is from Ruby Charm Colours, she has a new one I use now, I will give you a link to both: This one: www.amazon.com/dp/1727654498/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_GJ7RGP7A1RPPNFYVEGFQ New one: www.amazon.com/dp/B08KQQF7ZD/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_PXJNWKPH16ABWWZJX2MW
I’m new to your channel so I’m very sorry if I’m missing something or this question has been answered… What is the swatchbook that you’re showing in this video?
Dear Karen, you probably know, darken the colors with the complementary colors, not with black. Try red with dark green to get wine colors. Experiment with various greens and reds. Having billions of color pencils robs you off the pleasure of color mixing unfortunately. I understand pencils but there are watercolor "teachers" online painting with 24 or 48 color sets LOL About max 12 will suffice. Best wishes and regards, Zuheyr
what is this fabulous book you have there with the swatches in it? Also i have typically picked my color up from the caran board , do you think putting it on paper first is better?
Karen, If you have too many of those crayons......I sure could use some..... 84....you should be ashamed of yourself HA! You deserve every one of them!
