Awesome video but Im still stuck on choosing Neo or Pilot's Life. It's like going TOGA while your parking brakes are still on. Would like other pilots opinions. Thanks.
Thanks for watching, I haven't tried Pilots life so I can't really offer you any thoughts. Hopefully someone will comment. They all have their ups and downs, the only other one I've done is OnAir which I don't personally think was worth the subscription. I like NF even though its kinda silly and geeky, mostly because its got its own personality, and I like the dev and support people on their Discord. Good people. The design decisions they make are sometimes kind of bizarre, but Neo's vision for his program is is uniquely his own. Here is their discord server if you want to poke around a bit... discord.gg/88cHtEkR
Jesus christ this looks ridiculously hard. He'd have been better off spending time upgrading the clunky interface. I also think not required, what we love about flight sim is exploring airports and airfields. No interest in making my own runway 😢
Its really not a difficulty kind of thing, but yes there are a few steps to getting it running. As for the UI, I can't disagree with you on that! I remember talking with him a little about that a year or so ago, my memory is that the UI tool he used to build it just comes with some limitations. I also suspect he doesn't have a lot of experience in UI/UX design. There are a lot of odd decisions in the way he laid it out. But I have a lot of respect for the fact that he grinds through it alone, and learns as he goes. He would for sure benefit by hiring some help. But I suspect he wouldn't do that. On the flip side, there is that other career add-on that has a very slick interface, runs on a subscription model but manages to take that income and achieve nothing particularly better with it. So I guess we pick our poisons...
Cant wait to tey it out hey. Just earned my Senior Captains Stripes the other day. So far ive managed to aquire 5 Dc 3's & 3 A320's with hired pilots. I normally run my ol faithful C208 Caravan. Such a great add on for Msfs.
@@kurtvwSims yeah I will try this out somewhere in the upcoming week. I haven’t decided what location to pick. And I have insufficient funds at the moment 😅 about 800k now, so I few more flights and I start to think about building an small airfield.
Can you setup a home base at a real airport already in the sim? Can you choose the Terran type for the runway? How about the terminal size & location, etc?
If you want to operate out of an existing airport, that's already in Neofly, that would be using the Airlines add-on which allows you to set up hubs and such. So you'd create a hub at an airport of your choice. Runways for the Homebase can be Dirt, Grass, Asphalt, or water. With regard to terminal size, you really don't set those up with a terminal per se, it gets a hanger (or cabin in the case of the one you'd use for a seaplane base), and in there you can have an office, maintenance, passenger lounge and so forth. NF doesn't really worry too much about the size of those facilities, as what they are really doing is providing various perks to your operation... Thus, having a larger passenger lounge (at least in the current design) would do anything different. I think the design intent of home bases is that they are typically going to more like a private small field. You can certainly have a huge runway, but I don't think he was thinking you'd build your own major international airport. Good questions, and thanks for watching and asking.
@@weazalnews2442 It only affects ILS if you decide to add one to your airport. I don't really do any IFR flying with NF, so ILS was never in the picture for me. Charts are only accurate at 30 minute intervals and everything less than that is guess work, so I can't imagine a few minutes of variation would matter. But again, since I don't really do IFR, I'm no expert on that.
