Heritage of the South Pennines - Neolithic pottery
The use of pottery for all manner of household roles from cooking, eating, drinking and storing food and materials has been ongoing in the South Pennines Park for at least 6,000 years, arriving in the Neolithic. In this video, archaeologist Mike Copper from the University of Bradford discusses and demonstrates how prehistoric pottery was used, made and fired. A must watch for school groups, organisations and individuals interested in these ancient and effective techniques.

Is it correct that the pottery of this sort decorated with these cord 'slugs' is called corded ware? Interesting stuff. I would like to know a bit more on the finishes on the neolithic pottery. When did pottery first appear in Africa? Did it develop separately into Africa or spread from Eurasia? How did it reach the Americas? Thanks
