Fr shinji is literally parentless, alone, got no one to talk to him, his father treated him like shit and being used as a key to the human instrumentality program and accidentally creating a international genocide but he still managed to find happiness While reiner is still depressed 💀
also, if you look closely at the plugsuit she’s wearing, it’s actually the plugsuit that asuka from the original series wore, implying that the asuka we see in this scene is both soryu and shikinami
I want to upset you, but this is an Asuka clone costume, since Asuka from the original has red breasts, and this one has orange ones. This is one of the most obvious differences between the clone and the original that you can observe. this is her costume from the second movie of the rebuild
@@khunalawlxWould like to point out too, that Shinji gave Asuka her human body back, that's why she is suddenly an adult when she rescues her from Instrumentality.
25 years later, and Shinji was finally able to redeem himself, and save them. The crazy bastard managed to pull it off, he managed to fix the world of Evangelion.
when i went to see it in the theatre and this scene came up, everyone stood up applauding and then we all stormed out and evangelicised all over the street
What does the Morbius morbed all over the enemies thing mean? I know the morbin time was “it’s morphin time.” Thing but I don’t get the last bit “morbed all over his enemies.” Wait… don’t tell me what I think it is…. THATS DISGUSTING! 🤮
@@cyberzpacwhow i see it, Mari was the only girl that Shinji hasn't had issues with In the end Shinji gave everyone a happy ending, except for Mari and himself. They both meet up at the beach and get a happy ending. Together
It's a good ending, bittersweet at most. The timeline got re-written so they never met to in the first place. In the new timeline asuka, shinji or rei are simply strangers.
no it's not, shinji says sayonara to asuka, which in this movie specifically has the meaning of "they will meet again", although both of them said "I liked you" to each other, it's actually "I like you" behind those words, they all made confessions before they thought they would die(asuka's before battle begins, shinji's before his sacrifice) the fact that they made those confession saying "liked" works as evidence for their feelings for each other too, they don't want the confession to apply harm to each other after death
@@arthurvainer9866 Yea I watch it most days, I have it on my list of all time favorite videos. I just love how Matthews McConaughey reaction complete resembles my reaction when I first saw this scene, also the music is so beautiful in the background with the voices of Shinji and Asuka!
No. Shinji wishes for a world with no Evas, but he only arrives there with Mari. Kaworu and Rei chose different worlds, but Asuka (now in her adult body), as well as the crew of the Wunder, stayed behind in the now-restored Eva world.
@@tahirmehdi It's all in the movie, sometimes between the lines, other times you gotta pause some frames. Asuka's "happy place" is with Kensuke (her entry plug arrives there after Impact) in the Eva world. The crew of the Wunder lands near Village-3 in this same restored Eva world (except for the moon which remains in closer orbit but with its pre-3I features restored). The people inside the "studio world" are the ones that can see and choose different worlds. Keep in mind that "studio world" is not a world per se, but in lore it appears to be more akin to a "terminal" or "crossroad" into *different Eva worlds* , which is exemplified by all the props and doors which both Kaworu and Rei cross into. This can also be cross-referenced with NGE"s episode 26, where in the same "studio world" Shinji witnesses the "school world" and realizes there exists other universes out there. Thematically this room is Hideaki Anno's way of telling the viewer that Evangelion is NOT the real world, and that it can be whatever it is made to be. When Kaworu returns to his cycle in a different Eva world with the events yet to unfold (this is all heavily implied by his own dialogue and the evidence with the coffins), Shinji tells him that he now remembers they have met before, and that they will keep meeting, again reinforcing Kaworu's curse? to keep repeating the same similar events over and over in different Eva worlds. Rei also crosses one of the doors in "studio world", but we are never shown or implied where. Shinji leaves the Eva world when he "dissolves" into sketches (losing form). Mary *catches up* to him, which is why she says she made it "in the nick of time", before Shinji completely crossed over. We know he crossed over into another world and didn't simply changed the old one because he has the DSS choker when he arrives, something that shouldn't exist if the world had simply been altered.
But why Asuka, Rei, Kaworu appears in the train station of the new world created by Shinji? What means that? Are they variants of the originals? I don't understand that. 🤔
I actually liked the first ending , it is painful but seeing Shinji and Asuka together was soothing enough on the other hand in rebuild series ending is happy but it still left a hole in heart as they say goodbye 👆
Ironically, that's basically most relationships between soulmates. The ratio of "perfect of each other" couples are so bad, you're more likely to end up with the person you despise than get with your perfect match.
I'd say it wasn't as self-reflective as the OG but more like a much needed closure for everyone, Anno and the fans. This scene was the perfect example of that, for me at least. Shinji finally said it, now his heart and soul are lighter.
Evangelion series is like anno himself He made the original when he depressed so is depicted on how the show going But now he can move on so he put it in the rebuild series A more happy ending that end of Evangelion
Thrice upon a time had me ugly crying the whole way through. I just kept yelling “He fucking did it!” The entire rebuild quadrilogy was god-tier outside of the fan service.
@@eclips_total2215 people complain about mari as a character. but i believe she was a nevessary character for shinji to get rid of his love triangle with rei and asuka and finally be happy.
@@derknistermann5613 I think that Mari was very weak as a character, she never had any kind of difficulties or problems. Asuka and Rei are both iconic and well written, while Mari is none of the two.
@@derknistermann5613 I think that Mari was very weak as a character, she never had any kind of difficulties or problems. Asuka and Rei are both iconic and well written, while Mari is none of the two.
@@derknistermann5613 but she isn't there to be with shinji tho, all along she has been trying to repair the relationship between asuka and shinji, make no sense at all if she and shinji have a relationship
Despite the reality Shinji had to face, he accepted it with both faults. His parents longing for each other, even though his "mad" father longing for his wife, Yui, in the other dimension. But in fact, she was always there near him, residing within the Eva Unit 01. When Shinji was about to rid the world of Eva's and rewrite their reality, Yui saved both her husband & song (Gendo & Shinji), shinji became content upon seeing his mother... & father one last time blissfully together again. Mari was there for him after the world had reset, both completely love each other happily.
Makes no sense. Mari knew him for about 3 minutes in 6 months. Then the world ended and he spent about 30 seconds with her as it caught up. She's also 40. She's as old as gendo so how does it even make sense that when evas dissappear she's not his moms age but is someone his age? I think she was literally just shoved in to make a hotter girl for the main character.
The ending of the last movie made me cry ..... and right now i have tears in my eyes.... truly a lengendary anime that will forever be in my memories..and yes Asuka is the best waifu u not telling me otherwise
I think it's endearing (and a little revealing), that after being freed from Eva 13 she ended up at Kensuke's house, which is where and who she wanted to be with. Those two low-key had something going on between them.
It's crazy how a show can make you feel something so painful yet so amazing. When I saw all this I cried from the depths of my soul. It was the same crying I had during the hardest time of my life. But once it ended it was like a pain lifted . This will always be my number one favorite show forever. I'm sad it ended , however I'm happy it did with everyone finding some sort of happiness. Good bye Evangelion.
I like that they didnt make it as dark with shinji choking asuka like the original. We are just so used to seeing them together even though they had so many complications as a couple so maybe thats why they changed it. I dont want it to end like this either. But oh well, how i see it is that all evangelions, the original and rebuilds, have the same continuity. Existing in multiverse and different timeline, i think Karou is like the watcher.
one explanation i heard is yes shinji and asuka had a crush on each other, shiji in the og series kept her alive and came back because hi didnt want to be alone (giving love and expecting it to be reciprocated) and asukas constant need to be validated to be seen is the only thing she can do to know she exist. but the rebuild series, shinji learned his lesson he is able to love him self and go out and grow rather than staying on the metiphorical/literal train to run away or making the decision to live not to wallow in self pity blaming everyone but him self neither choosing life nor death.
@@jzapien1377Shinji didn't keep Asuka alive in EoE, both were simply the first two people to return from the LCL ocean. Shinji chokes Asuka because earlier, during Instrumentality, Shinji begs Asuka for love and acceptance, but Asuka denies him because she realizes Shinji would love anyone, as long as they validate him in any way, thus Shinji doesn't really love nor loves himself. Instead of retaliating, Asuka caresses his cheek because although she finds him repulsive, he truly understands him now (because of their shared experiences during Instrumentality).
@@GreenDbz Probably, tho Rei and Tabris explain to Shinji that anyone is able to return, so long as they can see themselves as individuals and recognize their own shape. Some of the dialogue seems to imply that people can return from the LCL with different shapes altogether.
@@R.DeMorayes but that’s the irony of it all that shinji gave everyone the chance the return but they didn’t want to come back to reality. ironic how the two characters who suffered the most in the series were the only two who came back at the end, also one of the original ideas for the ending was supposed to be only shinji who comes back, not asuka too. maybe others did come back too but in my head canon no one else came back except those two. the new adam and eve
I’ll be honest I saw a piece of fan art 🖼 with shinji meeting asuka at the train station 🚉 at the end of this movie 🍿 so I’m just going to go with that for my head cannon. with shinji and asuka ending up together like at the original end of evangelion. It’s not that I don’t like mari character I’m just not the biggest fan of her being with shinji. Man I hope I can find this movie 🍿 on blue ray or dvd 📀 👍🏿this new Eva series seems good 👍🏿
Ik I’m replying to an old comment lmao but technically it’s the still the same series since this story just continues after all the other endings. All the endings are cannon as they are not truly independent stories or remakes they’re all part of one continuous story where shinji can’t come to terms with who he is and accept change. Think of it as a linear time loop. So your head cannon can actually be canon somewhere in one of shinjis realities.
i don't think Shinji ends up with Mari yet, the world in the end has just reseted by Shinji and still continues the "14 years later" that's why he is an adult. That explains that Maki just remove the choker from Shinji's neck that he just restarted the world. Also, the part that Shinji tells Maki "cute" it's jusf him being grown up, they're not together yet. Sorry for terrible grammar.
i thought the anime ending (Episode 25/26) are generally considered to be an un-abridged version of what Shinji experiences whilst in Instrumentality during The End Of Evangelion
i really want more it leave me with unsatisfaction MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEE i hope in the future there will be an special episode that told the story of all of them after shinji wish ..... and then i will be satisfies :((
So I guess everyone got their dream ending but shinji will never see auska again and she won’t see him again it’s sad when you think about it like that it’s just sad it kinda feels incomplete and I hope that they make a story about auska and leave shinji with his dream life that would be cool a whole show or movie dedicated to auska she would finally get some spotlight
@@aboba4760 practically another dimension but then turns out she didn’t fully die then the angel/big robots LCL pod is eject and auska is ejected somewhere in the Omniverse meaning she’s now in her dream universe and their all in the same universe technically rei Kawrou Shinji and Mari but they won’t ever be able to see each other because auska chose a diffrent world
Actually, its happy, theyre moving on, theyre no longer children bound by the curse of evas, thats as much happiness as you can get from the entire situation
i'll always root for Asuka: throughout the rebuild she had it the hardest, with EVA Unit 3's malfunction in the second and her sacrifice in the fourth. She and Rei deserved to come back and join Shinji and Mari
Hideaki Anno should do one more movie for this franchise in the future. Evangelion 2.5 where we get to see the events unfold after N3I during the 14 years Shinji is asleep through Asuka's point of view. Throughout the film it goes into way more depth with Asuka's feelings for Shinji and how she longs to see the idiot again. She is angry for what he did but also still loves him and wants to be with him. It especially bothers her that Shinji didn't get to taste her cooking that she tried so hard to make for him. Mari teases her at every opportunity as she notices whenever Asuka is lost in thought over him but always assures her that she'll get to see him again. Mari follows this up by singing a love song which always aggravates her. We get to see Asuka bond with Kensuke over the years, which was stemmed from him asking her if she still thinks about their mutual friend, Shinji. After many battles with Nerv and the Evas, we get to see how all the other characters have been affected by the N3I. The movie ends with Asuka and Maki being briefed about the mission to retrieve Unit 1. Asuka looks shocked at first but then scoffs with a smirk. The movie fades to credits and afterwards, we get an epilogue that picks up after 3.0 + 1.0. We see Mari introduce Shinji to Asuka, they look at each other, confused at first. They both discuss if they know each other from somewhere and Asuka eventually calls him an idiot during the conversation. They both gasp as the memories come flooding back. "Idiot Shinji? Is that really you?". She barely recognises his adult appearance. "I'm glad I got to see you again, Asuka". We then see Asuka's cheeks going red and tears start forming in her eyes. Shinji smiles while wrapping his arms around her and holds her. With his new confidence and now being aware of his feelings towards her "Liked might've been an understatement" he pulls her in and they kiss. Mari laughs, "You two have a lot of catching up to do. See you around". She walks away while singing one of her love songs she used to mock Asuka with. The movie cuts to black. Let me know your thoughts in the comments?
How dare you write better character development that would establish an incredible base for the main characters of a 25 year franchise that could span into a 116 minute movie instead of wasting 10 million dollars are a dumb steering wheel fight scene with a marching legs cannon as an opening for no reason.😂 yes this would have been absolutely better for establishing the growth they had in the first 2 films and then the final resolution as to why she's disgusted by him choosing to starve to near death when he still has someone like her fighting for 14 years just to see him again.
@@OGslays I absolutely agree. A lot of people seem to think that letting their feelings go was for the best since they seem to not be right for each other with their toxic traits. The thing is, the reason why they had those traits in the first place was due to miscommunication, along with the issues they were currently dealing with at the time like the Evas and Nerv. They actually emotionally and mentally compliment one another in a lot of ways and had they ended up together they would've been an amazing couple since their issues would've been left in the old world. There was so much set up between them in not only the Rebuild movies but the original series too and it's a bit of a kick to the gut to see them end up like this. I honestly think it was a big mistake to have the 14 year time jump happen and for Asuka to grow up and experience life without Shinji. The rebuild series seemed to be setting up their relationship much better than the OG series and had it not been for the big changes like Asuka being the Eva 3 pilot or Shinji creating the N3I then I believe we would've gotten a romantic ending between them. In the last movie, I originally thought that Shinji was going to resolve everything by going back in time (hence the title of the film) to prevent Asuka becoming the pilot for the 3rd Eva or to not cause the N3I but alas it never happened. For Asuka to wait 14 years and hope that her relationship with Shinji would pick up again only for it to not actually happen was quite devastating, and to be fair, even though Shinji got a good ending I don't think Asuka did. I'm hoping for the series to continue again sometime in the future even if it's without Hideaki's direction just to get their happy ending, but that's wishful thinking.
@MultiMegaMadness thank you someone eho understands human relationships and can actually explain them coherently and not just be like "yOu DoNth uDerStaNd tOxiC rElAtionShips" luckily this comment thread has been pretty nice
Yeah I agree, It was a punch in the gut to see them not get with each other after all that time and trials. They should've been together after all of that despite their traits.
I dont get why they made Asuka end up alone😂 she's alone at the train station and for some reason shinji is with his moms 39 year old friend? Plus another 14 years shes 53😅
him ending up with someone thrice his age is probably some weird Japanese kink, and no sense of logic at that considering they haven't really talked so much in that 6 months of being together which is just like....30 seconds in that timeline 💀
the abslute madlad. After all the suffering, all the trauma, therapyzed himself, his father, half the people he hurt or who hurt him and ended up really close to, if not dating, the most mentally and emotionally stable woman he met, the only one who was always upront with him from the very start. Shinji deserved this good ending.
This shit broke me once again after NGE and EOE... Asuka was truly my favourite character since the first time I watched NGE, she was always the most relatable for me.
Ngl, while I appreciate the happy conclusion, the ending of EoE was more thematic, it was a brilliant scene that used symbolism to show Shinjis bittersweet acceptance of the painful reality of existence and connection.
Am I the only one who consistently takes the angular route and pines that they do end up together when Mari “takes him back” to the real world? Everyone just seems to take the ending at face value and forgets it’s Evangelion and nothing is ever as it seems
Just finished the last movie, basically finished evangelion… RIP Asuka I guess… ORRRRRR let’s say the movies never existed, Shinji found peace in episode 25/26 and everything ends well!
I liked end of eva ending more Yeah the last scene was painful to watch but I think if we exclude that scene that ending was better than 25/26 ending where the other character were clapping
This ending make GoT even worse than I was thinking it was... Amazing ending to a masterpiece that anyone who live on the time That Hideaki Anno set ink into paper had a remarkable life... That future generations will ask in wonder...
In that scene Shinji still is 14ys old and Asuka like 27 years old 😂 just watch better the body proportions, those curves, shoulders, hips and legs are from a fully developed woman not from a teenager.
He converged all timelines together and said no more evas, no more clones, no more twisting fates, and no more time travels. Everything moves forward now be damn if its better or worst. A really powerful message
Sorry for the large Text.
