Fun fact: in a behind the scenes stream boiwhat mentioned this song is mostly about his own feelings towards these kinds of AI. He even mentioned the clap clap clap bit represents how people will celebrate this stuff without acknowlaging the potentially negative reprocussions.
@@sargeanthawk4108 its the thing where most people will only ever look at stuff like this at face value and not actually listen to what the song is trying to say.
The consequences are there. If artists can use ai like this and there’s balance it can work but we all know far too many people are greedy as hell. Keep making bangers dude bring the amazing song writing and have fun
It's easier to type a prompt into a musical AI generator than to write it. It's a matter of humanity losing it's creativity and industriousness which is how we got from stone axes and spears into the modern age.
holy shit this isn't just a silly AI song, this is a warning. "what's real and what's fake will be left up to fate" "you're the demand so I'll supply" "no love, no truth, no lies" I'm so conflicted on how beautiful the melody is but how utterly terrifying that this is might be the start of the collapse of independent, creative industries.
It is a voice changer, but it is also AI; it's both. But that doesn't really matter, because at the end of the day he made the song entirely himself, no? The message still hits hard don't get me wrong, but you make it sound like he just pressed a button and this entire thing was done and uploaded. I don't like that idea either, but in this case, and the same with Glorb (from everything I know anyways) it's made by and sung by them. The AI part is just the voice changer, which isn't a problem. The people, and it has happened of course, who do make the AI do everything is the questionable part-- though it's not usually very good to say the least. Eventually that may change, but that's besides the point.
Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.
I volunteer my services. Nobody has heard my yet so I can't give a proper pitch, but I can absolutely do some gnarly metal vocals :) working on my production skills right now lol
This is such a banger. The chorus is insane. Truly whoever you are, those vocals really are insane. (Edit: he’s singing under this, AI needs a blueprint. This is wild)

The irony of the song and its view on AI, because this is how it should be used. To ENHANCE, not REPLACE. This is...I am beyond words at how good this shit truly is. It is everything.
This man is showing up the metal scene with a fucking Plankton voice changer. Respect. Edit: For clarification, the vocals aren't entirely AI, he sings the lyrics and runs it through an AI-Powered Plankton voice filter, so that's why I call it a voice changer. It's still nuts that this sounds so good though, hoping to see more!
@@StormierNik first of all i'll say that idk sht about IA, but since digital voice tuning exists, wouldn't be as easy as telling the pc the tone and rythm? Not saying this is the case, but It doesn't seem like we are that far from that.
This is a really profound warning wrapped in goofy spongebob wrapping paper. And surrounded by AWESOME instrument backing. This made me think about the future.
I love the deeper meaning behind this whole track. If you listen to the lyrics or watch the video and think of Neon Tide as AI in our current climate, so many lines are warnings for AI and how devastating it will most likely become as time goes on. My favorite is definitely the end. "The Neon Tide is here to CALL YOUR BLUFF" I cant help but interpret that as a clapback to all the AI bros who have been saying for years that they can control it. They can't. No one can.
@TitanClub-spiceO9 He didn't use AI for this. Just voice filters. He wrote it and sang it. He's been public about how the world is handling AI so this fits right in there with his train of thought.
@TitanClub-spiceO9 Using AI to make funny voices and warning the world about the dangers of using it in more wide-reaching avenues are 2 very different things. Using AI to make spongebob voices is NOT the same as using it political campaigns or deceptive marketing strategies. You can't label it all as a blanket diagnosis under "AI bad." Also learn how to speak to people. You come off like a total asshole.
for now you can control it it will never be sentient never be human but that is the bad part it will be like the one who programed it which is more likely corrupt
This almost feels kind of meta? Like self referential to AI, robotics, and tech itself, with the Neon Tide representing technology rolling into Bikini Bottom. Plankton supplying the demand of more and more technology wanted by the consumer, thinking they want something that will inevitably ruin them and "calling their bluff" through it. Choosing convenience over Neptune's(Nature's) Gift, or in other words, the natural order. And through this, "what's real and what's fake is left up to fate" as technology and AI is able to increasingly warp reality in an increasingly artificial culture. Giving Cyberpunk corporate dystopia vibes. No love, no truth, no lies. Just Neon Tide.
Maybe SpongeBob’s verse is supposed to represent what once was the innocence and fun behind the idea of AI covers (I know he’s singing through a filter but bear with me). This trend became so popular that we clamored for more (“You’re the demand so I’ll supply”) but in that frivolous demand and fixation, we became blind and ignorant to the implications of this technology being utilized more and more. It has the potential to reach a certain level of independence and to get out of our control in this ever advancing world, but of course none of us thought of that at the time Boi What’s stuff became popular. SpongeBob just wanted to sing until the consequences of us letting AI develop beyond comprehension came into play. He’s confused now and the message behind the songs has shifted. It isn’t the same. (“What happened to my home?” It’s not the place I know.”) Now, because we’ve allowed it to do so, AI is playing such a big role in more artistic mediums that it’s gonna be hard to distinguish “what’s real and what’s fake.” Banger of a song and honestly a cautionary tale.
@@pinepickle9210 Oh I’m entirely aware of how much I’m reading into it 😂 I just love contributing to discussions on analyzations for any piece of media
@@sirowain6252honestly it gives you that feeling of soulessness in its production. That even throgh giving it heart, he cant revognize his own art and distinguishing it from the sona of plankton he created with ai. The machines being others producing ai content which clap over its succession, until they cant take back whats been done
45yrs here, raised my kids on SpongeBob, with a healthy mix of deftones, tool, in this moment, otep, and damnnnnn BOI WHAT slapppsss in the best of waysss🎉🎉
To be honest, this is masterpiece. The sound, mix is just hitting the spot. Whenever I hear "cuz" or "breaking" in chorus it his feels great to my ears.
As for PLAN Z, I was just thinking about the fact this guy does absolutely EVERYTHING so nice (since Plankton's voice is just an AI filter and not an AI singing) just blows my mind everytime. This is so good, he definitely needs to make a full album! He's not in the same league as the others AI songs where people just put an AI singing over a song.. The singing is really well done (the chorus is perfect), the screams as well, the guitar fits so well, then entire instrumental in general is so clean. Can't wait to see what's coming next🔥 (also I'm curious to hear his voice without the filter, because he really is a good singer)
@@abdelilhmanflores oh no, don't get me wrong, although I don't think YBS is better, that isn't to say I think he's bad. I'm actually in the top 0.7% of listeners of YBS according to the RU-vid recap. Thing is, I highly prefer how Glorb and Boi What make their songs by actually singing themselves and running it through a voice changer as opposed to YBS using text to speech to sing. I mainly brought up that opinion because of the original commenter saying how BW isn't in the same league as other ai artists who do basically what YBS does
@@abdelilhmanflores They can't, same in art and everything in general (cartoons, animes, films, cars, etc...). People always have to write a book to tell and "prove" (lol) that what they like is "better" than what other people like, and sadly it will always be like that.
I've previously had mixed feelings about AI, in both good and bad directions... and you sir... this song... has moved me greatly. Aside from the RIDICULOUSLY catchy chorus. These lyrics hit my soul, and hit it HARD. What at masterpiece!
Bruh you produced this? Holy hell you just keep getting better with the mix. Amazing that a parody type song is a serious contender for best song/best mix of the year.
@brandon_caelum you're welcome bro! And oh trust me I know about stray view I'm an og Dave fan. But I've been about you since you released escape with him I fucking loved the mix and those electronic elements in that song especially. And all the small bands you produce for have such a nice sound thanks to you.

makes me think of Violence (Enough is Enough) by ADTR when he says "What's the world gonna say when I call your bluff, punk?" right before the breakdown
I cannot stop listening to this. It's epic, soaring, beautiful, angsty, angry, a bit silly, topical, and it just hits that part of my brain that needs it. Thank you.
I honestly can't stop listening to this, I've just listened to it for like the 8th time today. There's simplicity to the song structure and a lot of popular metal formulas being used in the best way possible, double time for the last chorus going into extended chorus, BEEFY patty breakdown, etc. but they're mixed together so well, especially love the dynamic between the narrow intro opening up into the huge chorus and the Plankton voice changer actually being able to keep up with how hard the vocals go is crazy to me. I'm really curious what BOI WHAT sounds like without the filter though, and I would love to here a non-parody metal song from you, if you do have content like that please let me know! Using popular character voices is certainly good for marketing the song and I'm sure does better than a serious track without the voice changers so it may not be an efficient use of your time to do a serious track, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants to hear you after PLAN Z and Neon Tide. I also kind of want to hear something like this with a Vegeta voice changer, there's parts in this song that actually sounds pretty close to Chris Sabat's Vegeta and I love it. Not sure if you'd consider branching outside of the Spongebob stuff and even if you don't I am absolutely here for it. Incredible work from you and Brandon on this and I am eagerly waiting for more.
We need a Marvin the Martian voice over too where Marvin starts out by singing about how there's no intelligent life on this side of the galaxy and that us earthlings have laughed at him for years because of that Duck Dodgers then gradually escalates into him sarcastically lamenting about how Mars should be a warning of what Earth could become if these foolish humans don't heed their actions and protect instead of destroy their world, it would be dope too if he mentions how he's based on the God of war with screamo thrown into those parts!!!
@@TheBlaskarthe voice possibly replicates Pearl, daughter of Neptune, basically: keep going down the wrong path until it's too late. would make sense since it's after the line: you chose convenience over Neptune's gift
i can't believe how fucking amazing this is and how it is not more popular!! your work is amazing keep going i need more of this super epic songs either they're about cartoons or whatever
I really love how different the tone is from Plan Z. Plan Z was like an incredibly cocky diss track, with standard rap segments and all. Full of threats while Plankton tries to hype himself up. But here, the tone's different. No more rapping or diss tracks. The tone's a little more somber, and the lyrics a little more profound. Plankton's entered a new era and he doesn't think he's gonna win; he knows he's won. The character growth between the two songs is really cool, and for being a Spongebob fansong, the ability to really tell a cool story through this music is honestly really cool. Both songs are super well written and I'm super excited to see what comes next!
after watching this numerous times tonight i think my favorite part is the subtly of the background instrumentals like the trumpets and also just how impactful you allow the parts that are screamed to feel
As a writer, i gotta say that the lyrics are absolutely clever! I'm ashamed in seeing most people not reading through the lines of this song, how your actual stance on AI is negative and these songs are meant to scare people in realizing just how Dangerous AI technologies can get for the music (and artistic overall) industries if we let them grow uncontrolled. No idea if you write your own songs or if soneone else does it for you, but regardless its a 10/10 for me
Great lyrics "Blurring the lines of reality" "What's real and what's fake will be left up to fate. No love, no truth, no lies" "You're the demand so I'll supply" "You chose convince over Neptune's gift" A critique on AI, but even possibly on our over reliance on technology as a whole
@Fredy_The_Yeti precisely, it's extremely clever and it makes me like these songs even more. It's sad that people don't really understand what a song says no more, they just listen and that's it
Not just music but in every single aspect of life. We are going to be even more like those lab monkeys, pressing shiny buttons for food (We already are but its gonna be worse)
I agree. I can just imagine the "Neon Tide" being an unstoppable force of AI´s that constantly replicate more of themselves and act without mercy. There is no fighting back against an exponentially growing wave of quickly adapting robots. The few people allowed to survive are constantly being fed different informations, without the possibility of distinguishing what is true and what is fake. Maybe the Neon Tide will even gaslight humanity into believing that this is how the world has always been or that the Neon Tide AI´s themselves don´t even exist. Such an evil and sublime concept conjured up from the twisted mind of... Plankton...
Everything about this song is so great. The production quality, the arrangement, the message, and ironically even the AI vocals. You chose convenience over Neptune's Gift goes HARD. Finding this randomly inspired me to pick my guitar back up to write my music.
