Since there has understandably been some disappointment (we couldn’t put everyone in the top 10 unfortunately 😭), we thought it would be good to clarify our decision process to you all so you know how we’re judging each and every submission. We care hugely about the meme animation community and are dedicated to making this a fair and thorough process so it’s enjoyable for everyone involved and people feel seen and heard. So we hope this clarifies things a bit for you. Our judging process begins with all 7 of our team viewing each and every submission, from which we all pick our favourites based on Animation Quality, Creativity/Originality and Emotional Connection/Story. These then make it to the final round where every member of the team gives each finalist a score out of 10 for each of the categories mentioned above, these scores get averaged out for each category and each category’s score is weighted equally to give a final score out of 100. We then decide our top 10 and honorable mentions based on those final scores. This way we give each and every submission it’s time of day and the chance to make it to the final round and ultimately to the top 10. There will always be an element of subjectivity at the end of the day but we think this process makes it as fair as possible. And just remember even if you didn’t make it to the top 10 that doesn’t mean your effort was for nothing, your dedication and skills are astounding and we’re so impressed with everyone who took part, so don’t be discouraged - keep drawing, keep animating and we appreciate all of you!
Oh, i see now how you are judging! But are the judges animators like wingedwolf94? Or they just do music like you :/ because i have a friend who is in art school and i don't personally do art. Something that i find cool they are finding mediocre or just bad... So maybe you should look into this? Maybe the problem is like with me and my friend 😅
I don’t know if this is already a thing, but perhaps include at least 5 community favorites along with winners and honorable mentions. If one of the community favorites is already a winner then go on to the next one. The downside to this though is that ppl are gonna be biased towards their favorite animators or even popular ones, but after browsing other entries I’m shocked that some of them didn’t at least became honorable mention.

Yeah.. i do kinda feel like there should’ve been way more people that should’ve been shown here. There were entire 3D animators! But congrats to the winner’s though. I feel horrible for all the good people with good BS’s,Quality, and animation that didn’t even make the list. Congrats i guess, but also congrats to the good people who didn’t make it!

I think that some animators deserved to be shown at least in the top 10 instead of some here... Don't get me wrong, these are AMAZING animations but so many more talented artist made super animations with lot's of backstory and orginality and they didn't even make it to the honorable mentions, almost as if they have been never reviewed... I just feel sad for them.
I really loved your submission! it's literally so smooth, and the pallet is eye candy, I do agree with you, some people should have been recognized more, but still, the people who were recognized are talented!
I genuinely feel like mine was never viewed by anyone who hosted this competition- I didn't think I was gonna win, but it feels like the ones that DID win were the ones that had higher view counts and likes etc etc, it's a terrible feeling :/
@@ShuxYT If you look at the previous contests, you will notice that they constantly do not show good animations. I don't know what the problem is. It seems that the judges do not watch most of the animations

oh my gosh! it's such an honour to be one of the runner ups, i was totally not expecting to get a place since the Loser animation is one of my very first and I just started animating a few weeks ago! (I'm such a rookie compared to the other gods in there!) Everyone did such an amazing job, I'm absolutely speechless! Thanks again for hosting this, I guess I'll look out for more!

Everyone did so good, there were so many different ways people did this meme!!! I loved making this meme, trying out a more "complex" animation style in this that I have never done before! the artists shown here are amazing, but i'll be honest, i personally would've judged some particular ones much higher or at least placed them in honorable mentions one of the things i noticed is that... aside from the original animation and first place, they're all humans/mostly human, when a majority of submissions were furry characters, as is most of the animation meme community. some of the best entries to this contest that should've definitely made it in featured furry characters. i think it's worth bringing into question how bias towards the subjects of the animation may have played a part in the judging here..?
I don’t think it doesn’t even matter if it’s humans or not??? I think it depends on creativity, if it’s a loop, the amount of time and patience, and how good the animation is. Most of the ones that didn’t make it into the Top 3 were loops. I don’t think it’s because of that.. you got to be kidding me-

Reminder to people in the comments to be civil, and that pure technical skill was not the only choosing factor in this contest. An entry with a 5/5 animation score and a 2/5 visual storytelling score is still beat by an entry with a 3/5 animation score and a 5/5 storytelling score. Also, this is a fun contest with the purpose of promoting a new song (fantastic work, Neoni! Been looping it since release) and having fun. It is not a thesis film competition with a prestigious review board. Anyway, fantastic work from every applicant and congratulations to the winners and runners up!

I figured I wouldn't win since there's so many other videos that were better than mine X'D But since the youtube algorithm is difficult to deal with and using the search function might not show everyone, how about we use this comment to give exposure to the others who entered and hadn't gotten shown in this video? That way it takes the pressure off the hosts and we keep the good vibes going? So reply to this comment if you entered the contest so we can check out your video, maybe tell us a bit of the backstory on it or what programs you used? WHAT IS THIS!? A lot of really good animation weren't shown here NOT EVEN IN THE HONORABLE MENTIONS. These animations are not bad but compared to some of here and in the honorable mention they are just bad. This is sad and disgusting

Was they looked at at all?? :( So much unrecognized work, like I looked through competitors myself and thought wow these are SUPER HIGH QUALITY these are 1000% 1st-3rd place! I was also thinking about writing some kind of criticism about the decisions made, and though I'm happy for those who were chosen as runner ups and winners - they deserve the recognition, since they worked on their entry -, I also can't lie about my shared disappointment. I've seen some freaking great entries which made me think the same, that they'll be the winners and they are much better than me, since their work looked extremely good, aesthetic or well animated. I was genuinely surprised that they weren't even in the honorable mentions, and I feel bad for them - it's really a shame! Obviously I'm feeling bad about myself too, since I spent all August working on my entry to put out a fully animated (not tweened!) stuff, and seeing the result of this contest, I feel like it was a waste of my time, which is a lot, considering the amount of time and energy I spent on it :'D Also 0.6Chii, your entry is freaking gorgeous, I especially love the color TT.TT

I completely agree with you. Check out the previous contests from them. There are also a lot of worthy works that did not even get into honorable mentions. I am really sad for those animators who worked hard, and in the end they were not even watched by the judges

i'm going to be as respectful as possible here- i understand what you're trying to say and i agree that every video that was reviewed should have been listed in an open google doc at the least so everyone who entered could know for sure that their entry was seen, but what you've written here is incredibly insensitive and insulting to the people that were chosen as runners-up, winners, and honourable mentions. it comes across as simply because they don't impress you/you don't like them as much, that they HAD to be randomly selected and just thrown in there instead of the vids you did like? dude, you've been really rude in your comment. the people shown in this vid worked hard, too. they aren't just "LUCKY" because you don't like their entries as much as other people's. your entry was incredibly beautiful and extremely well-made, too, and i'm sure it would've been at least an honourable mention if it hadn't been uploaded past the deadline, too. i'm sorry that you were too late in uploading so you couldn't be counted- you definitely deserved an exception, but, if you got one, then everyone else who was late would also deserve one and that'd probably be a mess. i'm sorry that you're upset, but, please understand that you've come across very condescendingly.

YOOOO CONGRATS EVERYONE. I REALLY LOVED ALL OF EM. Had no clue serenity would win, but they deserved! I remember being in shock when I first saw their animation!
If I'd been judge, the Flavency would've been 1st place, Zero paint 3rd and PaintedSerenity would've instead had the 2nd place. I appreciate PaintedSerenity, but that animation just wasn't as impressive to me as Flavency's. I don't agree with this ranking, (I mean why was the winning animation one where a bunch of dog-like creatures were killed?) but gg anyways, I guess. Well drawn.
Honestly, I love the animation from Flavency. Not because I love Omori, but the animation is hella smooth and the edits matched well with the snaps of the song. But compared to PaintedSerenity, it's not as outgoing. PaintedSerenity has some good character animation and the scenes were astonishing as for Flavency being simple. But that's me coming from an animation view. I do think Flavency should've gotten 2nd place tho
1:29 after two years i finally know who those people are! I thought it was just someones oc but now that ive joined the omori fandom i remember each and every one of them! (Aubrey, Kel, Sunny, and Basil) Im so happy i finally understand. I even noticed that this is pretty much exactly what happened in the game. Even the designs and personalities are spot on! (sorry im a little obsessed with it right now lol)
